Visit the Store Safe for recreational ponds, livestock, birds, pets, fish, wildlife, and the environment. Water treated with MuckAway may be used for recreation, swimming, fishing, and other activities immediately after treatment. Developed from over 20 years of research and comprehensive field studies, MuckAway is The Original Muck Reducer, leading the industry as the most effective solution for muck reduction. MuckAway tablets are designed to sink below the water's surface, traveling directly to the muck layer, releasing highly concentrated beneficial bacteria that instantly begin consuming settled organic debris, rapidly converting it into an odorless gas that escapes unnoticed from the water column. Muckaway is developed and made in the USA with BioMax technology, a proprietary method used to formulate the safest and most effective natural treatment. Developed from two decades of research and comprehensive field studies, MuckAway is a natural muck remover that rapidly consumes muck. MuckAway also improves your overall water quality and helps reduce harmful gases, including hydrogen sulfide, that get trapped in the muck causing a rotten egg smell. MuckAway tablets sink below the water's surface and dissolve, releasing hungry beneficial bacteria that instantly begin consuming and digesting the settled debris, rapidly converting it into an odorless gas that escapes unnoticed out of the water column. MuckAway precision release tablets are 100% safe and easy to use. You can target treatment around docks, along shorelines, and in beach areas where decaying vegetation, fish waste, or organic debris (pond muck) accumulates. No water uses restrictions. Have you ever waded into your pond or lake and had your feet instantly sink into slimy, stinky ooze? It can be unsettling. Thankfully, Airmax MuckAway ensures you never have to feel that way again! As ponds and lakes age, organic debris from fish waste, leaves, twigs, plant decay, and organic runoff accumulates to form thick, foul-smelling pond muck. MuckAway beneficial bacteria eliminates up to 2” of pond muck each month! Evenly broadcast one scoop of MuckAway for every 1,000 sq ft of treatment area using the included scoop or a spreader. Popular application locations include beach areas, fishing docks, and along shorelines. When to Apply MuckAway Apply MuckAway when water temperatures are above 50ºF. Treat monthly for routine, preventative maintenance. For more aggressive treatment and faster results, apply MuckAway every two weeks. Restrictions MuckAway is a completely natural product. It may be applied to lakes and ponds used for irrigation and aquaculture. Water treated with MuckAway may be used for recreation, fishing, and other activities immediately after treatment. When used in accordance with label directions, MuckAway is completely safe for recreational ponds, horses, livestock, birds, pets, fish, wildlife, and the environment. Not tested on water intended for human consumption. Is MuckAway safe to use in a pond used for swimming? Yes, water treated with MuckAway may be used for swimming, recreation, fishing, and other activities immediately after treatment. MuckAway is all-natural and safe for horses, livestock, birds, pets, fish, wildlife, and the environment. Does the muck disappear overnight? No. Keep in mind that it took a long time for pond muck and debris to collect in your pond, so it won't disappear overnight. For example, if your pond has 12 inches of muck accumulation and MuckAway eliminates 2 inches per month, it can take 6 months to achieve your desired result. Patience and consistent treatment will pay off in the long run. Can I just do one application of MuckAway? Just like vitamins, consistent use over time will provide the most benefit. Natural decomposition, seasonal changes, and storm runoff will continue to affect your pond. Regular beneficial bacteria treatments using MuckAway should continue, as well. In addition, MuckAway probiotic bacteria is developed for optimal results utilizing the listed dosage rate, and pouring the whole package in at one time will not achieve the results you’re looking for. Can MuckAway get rid of leeches? Leeches live in the muck and detritus in shallow areas of your pond or lake. MuckAway is perfect for spot-treating trouble areas and removing organic debris, destroying leeches’ habitat. Does MuckAway get rid of algae and pond weeds? No. MuckAway is an all-natural beneficial bacteria treatment designed to reduce pond muck and improve overall water quality. If you're looking to fight algae, consider Airmax Algae Defense. If excessive pond weeds have taken over, consider Airmax WipeOut, EasyKlear, or Ultra PondWeed Defense. If using an algaecide or herbicide, we recommend waiting at least three days before using MuckAway. This ensures that the chemical treatment does not kill the beneficial bacteria in the MuckAway. Can I use MuckAway in my small fishpond or water garden? Airmax MuckAway is all natural beneficial bacteria, and it will not harm the aquatic life in a small koi pond, fishpond, or water garden. MuckAway is formulated for large, acreage-sized ponds and lakes, and the dosage rates are listed as such. Can MuckAway be used with other water treatments? Yes, we recommend a proactive approach to pond management. Use MuckAway in combination with other Airmax products, including EcoBoost PRx,  PondClear, Pond Dye, and Airmax Aeration to keep your pond looking great. All these products are part of the Airmax Ecosystem, a highly successful approach to Pond and Lake Management. Effective Pond & Lake Management Combining Natural Water Treatments and Aeration

  • Great Product! Great Product!
Size: 8 Scoops
This is a great product if you have a pond with ducks or geese who refuse to go back into the water because they don't want to swim in their poo any more. Lol!! Follow the instructions on the package. It takes weeks for to work. We can already see a big difference in the pond. It is clearing up nicely. It just takes time. So in the mean time, go get a wading pool and fill it with clean water for your ducks and geese. It won't hurt them to wait it out. It beats draining out the pool, getting a shovel; scooping the carp out of the pond and then refilling it. It's a bit expensive but well worth it. If ya got fish in there like us; they will be ok, and they will be thankful they can see a lot better. 🙂 Get it! Update: On the coldest day of the year, (and yes snow in south TX) our silly ducks decided it was safe to swim and play in the pond again as you can see in the picture. Of course, the weather knocked out our banana trees but they will be back in the spring. So yes this stuff works. It's just a bit expensive. Just get it. It really works. ... show more

  • It definitely works, but slowly. Don't expect results overnight
Size: 48 Scoops
The good! This stuff does eat the muck. As the muck has a lot to do with the algae, that is good, as the algae was taking over. Must definitely use along with dye to block the sunlight as the algae needs the sunlight to thrive. The Bad! The price is hefty. We have a ten acre lake and $350 per application hurts. Especially when recommended to install every couple of weeks for the first few months and monthly thereafter. But, it does work with dye, but slowly. In cold climates, below 50 degrees water temp, it will hibernate during the winter so you will not see results during the cold spells. Keep in mind, if you shock the lake to kill the algae, you also kill the good bacteria that eat the muck. Do not let a pond management firm recommend shocking your lake unless the algae has completely taken over. These companies just make more money putting the good algae back later, at your expense. We only tested Airmax Muckaway and are very satisfied. ... show more

  • Works, but there are things to keep in mind!
Size: 16 Scoops
I purchased this product as a desperate hope it could help my pasture pond, which was absolutely choked with algae from a dead tree we couldn't get removed for weeks due to the ground being too saturated. The first dose, thrown into the mucky pond, did absolutely nothing, which was very disappointing to me. However, then we got another rain burst that flooded the pond and washed about 80% of the algae downstream. So with the intent to do the "aggressive" treatment (i.e. throwing in treatment every two weeks), I added in the next recommended dose to the remaining 20% of algae still floating around the pond. Three days later, the change is dramatic. About 5% of it is gone completely, and the rest is starting to die. So I eagerly anticipate what another month of treatment will do to the health of my pond. In all, anybody looking to use this product needs to keep these two important things in mind: it will NOT help a pond that is choked or otherwise drowning with algae. For that, your only recourse is probably physical removal of said growth, or being lucky like me and getting a well-timed flood. Secondly, temperature is probably another factor that is dramatically improving the performance of the second dose. The first dose was thrown in while temps were still relatively cool (low 70's), but within a few weeks our temps around here have spiked to high 80's and humid. This stuff definitely starts cranking when the temps start to rise. I'll update again in a month (two more doses), but if the last three days is any indication, I anticipate a pond completely clear of algae growth by then. And that will make me a VERY happy customer, and perfectly willing to continue purchasing this product despite its higher price. *Several months and a summer's worth of treatment later*: Our pond experienced a massive drought, which really dropped the water level and stagnated things. However, through it all, the water (that was left) never fouled with algae growth. I have maintained treatment every two weeks, and I think had I not the pit would have become a stinking sump. WILL definitely be purchasing again next year. ... show more

  • Slowly thinning out the muck
Size: 16 Scoops
It is working slowly and steadily. The silty muck is thinning out in the area we have been applying the Muck Away. Has not affected the plants or fish. This is not a quick result product - but we see a sand bottom in spots after using this product for three months
