    • Defective pump, not as pictured.
The pump was defective right out of the box. As soon as the sunlight hit the solar panel it made a grinding noise and then died. That was 2 days ago. I'm still waiting for the merchant to arrange for a replacement pump. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one is that the glass dish is very pretty. But it's useless to me if getting it to work is going to be a source of aggravation. I should also mention that the stand I received has 4 legs not 3. As a result there is a crossbar at the bottom of the stand rather than the circular brace. Another consequence of the alternate design is that it uses soft plastic pads on the tops of the legs to hold the glass dish in place. I'm not optimistic that these pads will hold up very well over the long term and I suspect that if they decay it will be yet another headache for me to deal with. ... show more

The fountain is much bigger than I thought, which is a good thing, it's easy to put together, less than 5 mins. The glass bowl is beautiful! I think this is probably what your paying for. It's a beautiful iridescent peacock green and sparkles in the sun! I gave the bowl 3 stars!!! Here's the problem, even the slightest cloud causes the pump to stop! As you can see in the video I posted its only a slight change of shade and it stops. I live in California so it's practically sunny every day. If this doesn't bother you than I would recommend it. But if like me you want the constant tinkle of the waterfall when your in bright or less than bright sun this isn't the bird bath water fountain you want. I understand how solar power works but as far as I'm concerned it was still pretty sunny and it stopped. I think I will return it and buy a solar fountain that charges. I hope this was helpful. I pretty much bought it for my hummingbirds to bath in and the sound of the water. I think the sound of the water fountain is pretty loud, but I have this placed in a small courtyard. I purchased this solar fountain with the hope that my hummingbirds would like it. Unfortunately, they could care less. Using hard water in this fountain was not good for it and it is covered with hard water deposits now, is very difficult to clean, and really does not look that great anymore. I will probably be taking it down after the summer is over and I have no plans to put it back up next year. In all fairness, the fountain is very pretty and sturdy, but it does not work for me. The solar fountain pump is still plugging along but needs to be cleaned on occasion and never, ever let the fountain run dry, you will burn up your pump. ... show more

    • Very pretty, but the fountain only lasted a few days
I bought this as a present for my mom, who loves peacocks. It's very pretty and fits perfectly as the centerpiece of her garden with it's larger size. My problem with it is that it didn't work for very long. I set it up for her on the 7th, the fountain quit working on the 10th. I tried cleaning it out, but there were no clogs. I checked that the water tight seal was holding out water from the electrical connection, no issues there. There has been plenty of sun for it to run a few hours every day. It's very nice and she likes the size, so I don't want to return it. I just wish the solar fountain was better quality. ... show more

This is a pretty little fountain. If you walk in front of it, it stops. If the clouds slip over the sun, it stops but when it is working it is a soft sounding pretty little thing.
