The media could not be loaded. I hate that moment cases cover the color of my phone just to be a part of their ecosystem. This takes the ability to mount my favorite glass and goes further by providing other Cinema Tools that make for a PHENOMENAL experience. Only feature that could be considered a con by some. This is a large case. Past that, if you are a mobile filmmaker there is no other option you need to pursue.

Used with iPhone 14 Pro Max with Filmic Pro and an anamorphic lens for a unique project. It does what it’s supposed to do and the lens mounts nicely to it, but it has an issue: the Bluetooth shutter trigger has a considerable delay. I missed the beginnings of a few key shots because it started the recording late. If you’re aware, it’s not a big deal, but I didn’t know until it was too late.

I bought this with the intent of upping my iPhone video game. It is very well made and holds the phone securely. If I was starting from scratch I would have been very happy with it. The problem I had was that there doesn't seem to be any way to mount screw in type filters. I am not about to replace all my screw in filters with magnetic filters. This seems like it would be an easy fix for Smallrig, so I'm not sure why they haven't done it.

My experience with SmallRig products has been all positive. They make great quality products that have a precision fitment. This video rig kit is no exception! Disclaimer: Although this kit is for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, I was able to fit my 13 Pro Max in it with no issues. All of the buttons and ports lined up. The only part that doesn't quite align are the lens openings on the M-mount lens plate but that plate can be easily unmounted as I don't plan on using the alternative lenses in the near future. This improvisation will work just fine until I upgrade to the 14 Pro Max. This kit comes in a box that includes the cage and the dual handles. The instructions are very simple to follow. The product itself is so simple in fact that I didn't read the manual until after the initial test to ensure I didn't miss any features (I didn't). I simply assembled everything according to how one would use it. It's a very intuitive product and makes sense! After I got everything put together and Bluetooth paired to the wireless control button, I tried filming in both landscape and portrait orientation. Although this rig kit doesn't seem necessary on paper, it definitely improves stability especially with some detail shots that require steadiness. In comparison, even with a DJI Osmo gimbal, I was having issues holding the phone steady as it would sometimes wobble on close ups. I no longer have such issues so I am certainly pleased with this product. Some things to note. The dual allen screw attachment to the handles require the included allen wrench. Although the handle positioning is probably a set-it-and-forget-it type of deal, I would have preferred it to be some type of tool-less adjustment in case fine tuning is required when shooting on location. A set of allen wrenches is not a common set of tools I typically carry around. The fitment of the phone in the cage is extremely precise meaning there is absolutely no slop. That can be a good or bad thing. With the M-mount plate attached, I wasn't able to easily slide the phone out of the cage which resulted in some slight panic at first. It was only after I unmounted the lens plate that I could push the phone out after slightly pulling the two sides apart. Not necessarily a bad thing but it may require some extra effort the first few times. The handles can be positioned in any combination of portrait or landscape or both. I think some situations will only require one handle but we shall see how that affects the stability. The Bluetooth button pairing and functions are really as simple as it seems. The pairing process couldn't be any easier and all the button does is record or stop. Nothing else more to it. Love it. 5-stars for another well rounded product from SmallRig!
