  • Build quality feels a little cheap but the thing works
The housing is very much plastic and a somewhat cheap feeling plastic but the sound quality and power output is quite good. Little noise, clear audio, and it seems to be able to power even power hungry headphones with hundreds of ohms of resistance.

  • Really good power and sound
The sound quality is really clean and clear. Does help with noise floor sound on my ford radio input. Sounds better than if I went direct phone to car radio. I do wish it also had a built in transmitter but I guess not enough space lol. It really has enough power to drive my dt990’s and sundara headphones and at this tiny package is pretty cool. It s pretty pricey but it did good for me. ... show more

  • Apt-x DAC 5.1 Bluetooth receiver
I was using my PC’s internal Bluetooth receiver and couldn’t figure out why apt-x wasn’t that good. It’s not like Bluetooth receivers tell you which codecs are being used. After some research I figured out, despite having a 5.1bt receiver, it was incapable of handling apt-x without the codec. Combined with the internal DAC, extra available codecs and Dolby atmos pass through, this receiver is capable of getting the most out of my expensive headsets. While I still use 2.4ghz most of the time, I’m able to use Bluetooth now with negligible latency compared to 2.4. The sound quality is better on this receiver but when using the lowest latency settings it’s comparable. Can be used for gaming, especially if you want to use your expensive audiophile headphones but really shines as a high end wireless audio receiver with a very large bandwidth. Little package but amazing product. ... show more

  • Super Compact, Great Upgrade!
When I decided it was time to level up the audio experience in both my car and at home without committing to an expensive overhaul, I found the Slash4 Hi-Res Hybrid Bluetooth Receiver. It promised an easy upgrade and delivered beyond expectations, all in one super compact package. The advanced noise isolation caught my attention first. The isolated DC/DC converter truly blocks out power noise sources, creating a pristine audio environment that's immediately noticeable. Pairing the Slash4 with my smartphone was a breeze, thanks to its smart connectivity. The automatic re-connection feature is fantastic, removing the hassle of manual setups every time I get back in the car or walk into my living room. And I love how tiny it is! It's a testament to how a small, intuitive device can make a massive difference in sound quality, bringing out the best in your music collection. If pristine sound, ease of use, and smart functionality are what you're after, then the Slash4 is the way to go. It's a great upgrade that won't break the bank. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Sounds excellent, and works very reliably. I just wish it could also be a USB DAC.
I don't have many complaints about this little DAC. It sounds amazing, has a wide range of supported high-quality codecs, and just works without any fuss. The sound quality is very clear, in a way that just makes each individual instrument easier to pick out from the others. Bass is especially solid and clean. There's not much else to really say, it's just very precise but easy to listen to, especially when using LDAC. It compares really well with my Fiio BTR3. It's a shame that Slash didn't add the ability to use this as a USB DAC. I really wish they had, it would have made this product absolutely perfect. Note that there's no microphone on this device; given this is for music, I don't miss it. Physical construction is also quite nice. It's fairly large, but a rounded shape. I also quite like the blue. These are of course secondary to the actual sound quality, but it's good to see there was some attention paid here. Displaying the codec by status LED color is a nice touch, although it does blink green annoyingly when connected but no music is playing. The included 3.5mm audio and mini-TOSlink cables are also very high quality. I didn't get a chance to test the optical digital audio output, as I don't currently own anything with that as an input. Given how good the built-in DAC is, I don't think I'm missing out. Overall, a very impressive bit of kit. The price is quite steep compared to other 'generic' bluetooth adapters, but the sound quality increase due to better codec support and a high-quality DAC makes a solid argument for the cost. For in-car use, it may be overkill when competing with road noise and such, but for home with some good speakers... excellent! I just hope Slash will add USB audio support in the next iteration to round it off. ... show more
