I have dehydrated tomatoes and elderberries so far and it did the job. The timer doesn't work as many have said previously, so I just set my own timer and keep an eye on it. For the price, this was a great deal for my needs.

The body and shells are sold, looks great, but the temperature controller not accurate, the time not work at all, for this price, I just treat this machine do-not come with timer.

I did my first batch & it wasn't quite dry enough. So I did another round but this time the timer didn't count down. 6 hours later, the timer was still at the same spot I dialed it to. And 4 hours later, the same, until I manually turned the timer knob to off. Disappointed that it was malfunctioning already on my 2nd run. Thankfully it can be returned. ... show more

I got this food dehydrator to make some healthy chips and snacks. Finally, got to try it and started with some sweet potato chips. I put the raw steamed sweet potatoes in the oven at 140 degrees F and set the timer for 4 hours. Came back the next day with visions of delicious crispy sweet potato chips dancing in my head, but as I bit into the first chip I realized something was wrong - the chips were incredibly hard! I checked out the unit and the timer never timed - it stayed stuck on 4 hours and the chips kept cooking all night long resulting in hard chips. The unit works good for dehydrating, unfortunately, I probably got a faulty unit and so now I have to keep an eye on the timer. Other than that, the unit looks nice, comes with 8 racks and is fairly quiet. The top and sides do get pretty warm - not super hot like my toaster oven. I recommend as long as your timer function works so test it out and make sure it does! ... show more

    • Poor controls an imprecise heat ruin when should be a great experience

I actually prefer knobs over digital controls most of the time but in this case where a precision could be required, the knobs are just to imprecise. It’s impossible to dial a specific temperature within the range that you would be comfortable with for dehydrating food. I’m also not sure the thermostat on this thing works correctly because I ran some stuff for 24 hours and it still wasn’t dehydrated. I thought it was supposed to work much faster than that. I haven’t put a thermistor inside to measure the temperature but I probably should take that step next. I fully expect to see temperatures much lower than indicated. The timer just sticks and doesn’t work at all. Come to think of it maybe it does work but only internally and that’s why my feet isn’t dehydrating. I just thought of that. Maybe the timer is turning the unit off but I don’t realize it because the knob still says that it is running . And I think the heat inside is much less as well as being pretty uneven. The stuff on the top rack dries much faster than the bottom and I’ll I understand heat rises I thought it lower temperatures this should be drying much more evenly. If I had to sum up the union in one word I would say unreliable. If I had to use another I would say imprecise. I thought I might’ve gotten a bad unit but from reading some of the other reviews I’m starting to suspect that’s just how this one is made. I can’t really recommend this as I haven’t really successfully been able to make anything. I wouldn’t want to dehydrate something that could spoil quickly could because clearly I haven’t got the hang of this yet but it’s not supposed to be that hard to use. The build quality seems pretty good and it does have a large capacity so if I ever am able to get this working properly or it might be really nice.     • Very nice and very large food dehydrator.

This is a very large food dehydrator that is awesome if you do big volumes of jerky or something like that. For fruits it would take a TON to fill this thing up. I did five bananas and it only took up two trays. As far as the size, it is like a small microwave so make sure you have the counter space or some where to put it when it is running and when it needs to be stored away. When it is running it has to be clear of any cabinets or other stuff because it gets warm on the outside and has a fairly loud fan. It reminds me of what my pizzaz sounds like when it is running. It is easy to set the temperature and the timer function although I don't feel like the timer works. I set mine on 4 hours and it was about 5 hours later and it was still running which was fine because the bananas weren't quite done. The timer dial just stays where you set it at... I would think it would count down like an egg timer I guess but it didn't do that so make sure you are setting your own timer so you remember to shut it off or check on your food. The trays were easy to clean, I just wiped them down with a rag after taking off my fruit. Overall, this is a huge, nice looking, easy to use food dehydrator that works well and comes with good directions and a recipe book. ... show more

This is a fantastic dehydrator! Manufactured overall very nicely. Good quality stainless steel used however thinner gauge on the enclosure. So it might be prone to dings in the long run. Functionally this system works great! It has all the important temperatures used in dehydrating. Like most others have mentioned this is a very large unit which is great as it has a large capacity however can be bulky in a countertop. This is a wonderful unit for the price. I’m very happy with it and won’t be looking to replace it anytime soon. Would recommend! ... show more
