This is a fun toy for kids, promotes activity, and get's them away from TV and off their cell phones. It requires three AA batteries. It has seven levels from easy to difficult to help keep the kids from getting bored. I set this up for a group of five year-olds and it was the hit of the birthday party. It does seem to be a bit on the flimsy side, so I it will be interesting to see how well it holds up.

We live in Florida, and with these record temperatures, it's too hot for the kids to go outside and run and play. At the same time, we don't want them stuck on screens all day. I ordered this mat to hopefully give the kids some motivation to get moving inside. The mat takes four AA batteries. After we got it working, the kids really did have fun. It's perfect for ages 5, 6, and 7. Younger ones and older ones lose interest after just a little while. Pros: it's got fun colors, lights, and gets the kids moving. Cons: the mat is a bit flimsy and may not hold up well for a long time, the buttons can be a little hard to push and the directions are a bit lacking. Overall the kids are enjoying it, and I like the fact that they're getting a little exercise and off their tech.

This mat reminded me of a kid version of Simon Says & Twister. It is a lot of fun and will keep the kids active. The mat requires 3-AA batteries. Once turned on, the machine will go thru 7 levels. It increases in difficulty. It will show you different items to step on and once done it provides you another. My main dislike is that the voice is repetitive. It cannot be connected to any outside devices so there is only so much that can be done. Luckily, for a child, they will find hours of enjoyment with it.

Have purchased few dance mats. They're all fun and have subtle differences. I am not a particular fan of the cones in this. Would have preferred the square regions for landing zones. However, I would prefer a dance mat any day over most other gifts. And this one is no different. Lots of fun and different games that can be played on this. Definitely recommend it

I thought this would be really cheesy and not work very well, but was pleasantly surprised. The different difficulty levels help keep the grandkids of various ages still interested in trying to get better. The little kids just love the music and dancing. It is very portable and folds up nice to store when not in use.

A dance mat without a TV may be a hard sell, but this one has some variety that may keep it more interesting. There are seven modes to play, though not all of them are games necessarily. All settings can be chosen by stepping on the start button, but the only way to turn it off is to actually flip a switch on the unit. The mat does seem durable while still being responsive. It doesn't take much force from your foot for a valid input. Menu options are easy to cycle through for a child. And the difficulties range so that a younger child won't find it too frustrating, and an older child can speed things up for a challenge. Altogether this is a well thought out toy that will inspire some exercise, and good listening/looking skills.

If you have a youngster who is into dance, this will be a fun mat for them. Whether they want to do the dance challenge and try to follow along, or turn the mat into a piano and let them make their own music, or turn on the music mode and let them dance to music, there are lots of choices. There are also varying levels of difficulty which means it is easy for them to use in the beginning, but also keeps making it more challenging so they don't get bored. Uses 3 AA batteries. Non-slip so it is safe for them to dance on without fear of the mat slipping out from under them.

So get the rechargeable kind because this dance mat will get a lot of use. It is fun for the whole family and keeps the kids off the electronic screens. This mat is non-slip so you don't have to worry about it skidding all over the floor or causing falls. There are four dancing challenges for different levels. I use this at night for family time in addition to the times the kids get on it themselves. The nighttime use is great to get the kids energy out so they will go sleep quickly. Recommended.
