  • Out of 5 stars, I give this an 8!
Dear Skilsaw, THANK YOU!! But I have to ask, what took so long?!?!? I have a VERY old (40+ years old) Milwaukee recip saw with a 3/4" stroke that has been to heck and back. Have bought newer Milwaukee saws as well as other brands, but they "ALL" had too much vibration. EVERY - SINGLE - ONE of them!! For YEARS I've been looking for a decent replacement saw. So thank you Skilsaw, for making this old man's wish finally come true. To Potential Buyers: GET THIS! If you're looking for a low-vibration saw, this is it. It isn't the most aggressive, nor the most powerful, nor any number of other things. But it IS the lowest-vibration reciprocating saw I've ever had the pleasure to hold. My ONLY complaint is with the blade lock. On the last saw I got, you could open the tool-less blade lock and it would stay open, effectively allowing a one-handed blade change. With this saw, a one-handed blade change is still possible, but takes practice. Skilsaw has a big brother to this coming out soon, but I'm not interested. It'll be fine for demolition, I suppose, but I "build" things, so I need a --smooth-- saw. And at 13 amps, who really needs anything more? I've cut rear tractor tires (LARGE ones!) as well as steel, but not yet used it for wood. I have no doubt it'll perform flawless, but then I want a nice cut; not a 'rip job'. Updated JAN 2020: I've had my saw for about 1 1/2 years now. It is, hands down, the BEST reciprocating saw I've ever had the pleasure to use!! I've been tempted to try the slightly-more-powerful 15 amp model, but am too happy with this one. Besides, this saw does everything I need. Still have my older saw when I need to tear stuff up, but this one's a dream to use. Virtually zero vibration. I have to assume the 15 amp saw is just as good, and honestly I can't see how much difference those 2 amps would make, but the extra 2.3 pounds of the heavier model can certainly take its toll over a lot of use. So my advice is, don't discount this model if you're looking for a great tool. Again Skil, thank you for finally getting back in the tools game with such a winner as this! ... show more

  • Wish I would have bought this one in the first place
My first reciprocating saw was a Ryobi corded one I got at that orange colored box-store for about $65. The power was okay but the blade would get stuck and that ended up stripping out the gears to where I had to pull the trigger then whack the blade on something to get the gears to engage to start moving the blade back and forth. The 90 day return policy had passed and I didn't want to fork out money to ship the stupid thing off to get repaired under the warranty. On top of that, the motor vents would always blow sawdust and crap into my face as I would make cuts. I seriously hated that piece of crap. I started looking at various brands, Milwaukee being the front-runner obviously, but I kept seeing the Skilsaw one pop up on various ratings and review sites so, given the price difference, I went with it. Glad I did! This thing has chewed through pallets with nails, plywood, and once it stops raining, it's going to destroy some lattice work and dead honeysuckle plants. This is obviously one of those "time will tell" things as far as reliability goes, so I'll try to update this after a year or so. As for now, I'm completely satisfied with the quality of this thing. ... show more

  • A gentle giant
This thing is an absolute MONSTER. Cuts through almost anything like butter. Also, the buzzkill technology is like black magic, you can barely feel any vibration at all in this thing. One of the best saws I've ever used, and I have had Milwaukee, makita, and Ryobi saws. Pair this with a good Diablo blade and you're set for any demo work you might need. Oh, and don't buy the 15 amp one. It's unnecessary. This thing will rip through anything you need it too with no issues. ... show more

  • I love it
The thing I liked the most is the convenient twist of the lock and release mechanism for changing blades. The plastic lever that was on my Makita eventually failed making it worthless as I could no longer insert a new blade into it. I tried to disassemble the saw to see if I could fix it, but it wouldn't come apart. So in the trash it went. I really like how this chuckless mechanism works and I have confidence it won't fail. The buzzkill feature is also very nice, much less vibration than my old one. It is a little bigger and is definitely heavier, but it fits in my old Makita bag for storage. ... show more

  • A salvage yards dream!
I use this sawzall on a daily basis as an automotive salvage recycler. I cut exhausts and radiator supports with this and it doesn't flinch. I have cut a few truck cabs, dozens of A-pillars and many floor pans with this as well. It even makes it through the older f350 truck frames with ease. I would highly recommend this saw to anyone in the automotive recycling or demolition industries. ... show more

  • Works great
I'm 66 years old and recently retired from a desk job so I look for tools that will do the hard work for me. I have been using this saw with a pruning blade and a metal blade to take out a chain link fence buried half way with dirt and with a couple of tree stumps growing through it. I don't know what the prior homeowner had in mind but it has been quite difficult to undo his handy work. This saw has plenty of power and is quite maneuverable despite it's weight. I don't think it would be safe to take out these stumps with a chain saw due to the risk of kick back should I hit part of the chain link embedded in the stump. With this saw I never felt I was in any danger. The metal blade also makes short work of cutting through the steel fence posts. ... show more

  • Powerful tool! A pleasure to use
This is an awesome reciprocating saw! Powerful and a real pleasure to use. Makes demolition easy. I used this to cut up a storage cabinet that was starting to get old and fall apart some. This tool made quick and easy work of destroying it. It’s fun to use. It doesn’t vibrate nearly as much as my cordless sawzall which I like. As others have said, this thing is plenty powerful and I see no need for having the 15 amp one that Skil makes. Save your money and get this one. I’ve only had it a month so I can’t speak to its longevity but I think Skil hit a home run with this one. I recommend it if you’re in the market for a reciprocating saw. ... show more
