I knew going in this would get me by until my larger drill press was fixed. Overall this thing is built pretty good. Easy to assemble, packaged well. Mine had a little runout issue at first then I took the chuck out and reinstalled It got better . It's not a precision machining drill, but pretty good for its size. I started with 1/4" steel plate with a 1 1/2" hole saw. It did rather well with cutting oil. "I honestly thought I'd burn the motor up right at the start. It didn't. The belt slipped some on the plastic pulleys and the motor has some sort of cut out when it gets stuck. Worked pretty good. I then went onto 3/8" aluminum plate with a 1-3/8" hole saw "not carbide tipped" and it did pretty good even with the galling. I'm hard on equipment and this little sucker did good for what it is. ... show more

i would not call this top quality, it doesn't feel like the components are that beefy.. but it does the job and seems to drill through steel on the slowest setting with no problem... a bit of vibration until you make contact , then it drills true and does a decent job . good enough for a tinkerer like me... light and laser were spot on for me and assembly went smoothly. it's also fairly quiet and smooth.... again aside from a slight wobble when free spinning . ... show more

    • Why have I waited
This is really a fairly nice drill press. I am 54 machinist, welder, engineer, and hobbyist. This really is a nice piece of equipment. Super easy assembly and very accurate. It has a 2” travel, that was the one spec I didn’t see in the description.

    • Good budget drill press!
I really like the laser feature because you can dial it in basically right on the money. It took some getting used to on the adjustments. My recommendation when you're tightening the adjustments, don't go too tight because your laser lines will move as you do so. Bringing it to snug should be fine I have not had mine move yet, and I have used it several times since I received it. The speed change is fairly easy and the chart is very nice to have and reference from for different materials and applications.     • Plastic pulleys! Shakes pretty bad.
Assembly was easy enough. The motor looked okay but it is loud and sounds “off”. I know that statement is vague and discretionary but I don’t know how else to explain it. It just doesn’t sound right. There is a lot of shaking that affects the accuracy. This drill must be bolted down securely to a near immovable surface or it will be unstable and therefore unusable and dangerous. I was very disappointed (and shocked) to see that the pulleys were plastic. What a ridiculous design decision. I am seriously considering returning this drill. It is obviously designed for extremely light and infrequent work. Maybe okay for Susie Homemaker. ... show more

A little tricky setting it up. I found a YouTube tutorial for set up was that was helpful getting it put together. Once assembled it has run perfectly. Plenty of power for my around the house and general repair needs.

    • Power/accuracy for the price
I really like the power and the laser to mark where the drill is going to go. Some are complaining about the wobble in the table as you raise and lower it but really doesn't matter cause you should lock the table in position when drilling. Table springs a small amount when putting alot of pressure on it but just minimal. The accuracy of the chuck was crazy cause I was thinking of getting small keyless chuck for accuracy but the accuracy of the normal Jacob's chuck was comparable. Not $500 drill press but very good And accurate. I'm very happy with it ... show more
