I bought the “youth” size for my 12yr old son to ride his longboard safely. He is 4’11” and weighs 100lbs. The pads definitely do their job, look stylish and have saved him some pain during his wipeouts.

The Tanden Skate Protective Gear set initially appealed to me as a way to add some padding to my yoga practice. Unfortunately, the fit wasn't quite what I needed for the poses I do. The knee pads, in particular, restricted my movement a bit more than I would have liked. However, the set found a happy home with a friend who rollerblades, and they were very impressed! They liked that the pads were comfortable and secure, staying in place during skating sessions even with a few falls. The adjustable straps seemed to provide a good balance of comfort and stability. Most importantly, the padding offered them peace of mind knowing they had some protection for their knees, elbows, and wrists in case of a tumble. They also felt the price was reasonable for a set of adult-sized protective gear. So, while the Tanden Skate gear wasn't the perfect fit for my yoga flow, it seems like a solid option for people who roller skate, skateboard, or participate in other activities where falls are a possibility. These knee pads saved my daughter's knees from some serious damage when she came off her bike last week. She fell awkwardly and landed on both knees. Thankfully she just got up and walked away without being hurt. These are very well made. The plastic armor is thick, strong and firmly attached to the padding. The padding is also nice thick and cushioned. They're very comfortable over her jeans. They're not as comfortable over her skin, but she said they're not bad and would still wear them that way. They adjust easily with the velcro which secures them well. The hand/wrist guards are very good protection, but not ideal for bike riding since they compromise being able to hold the handle bars well. The elbow pads fit nicely and don't restrict movement. They velcro strips are excellent and adhere well. I think the set is a little expensive, but since they work great, I would definitely order these again. ... show more
