Just installed these and all I can say is wow! Replaced my jbl gto 629s with these and skar silk dome tweeters in my front doors. They are way louder than the gto's better sound too. Had to adjust my crossover frequency (handles best at 150hz) and equalizer. They sound so good fixing to replace my rear deck 6x9s with some scars. Already have th 10 inch d4 subs which sound fantastic. Better than my punch p3's. Skar has sold me now! Everything is running on a Kenwood deck and a infinity referance 5 channel amplifier. Haven't had a system sound this good since I did competition in the 80's. ... show more

Honestly. If these speakers hold up, this is a good deal. I reserve the right to change this rating because I’ve seen quite a bit a bad reviews on Skar months after the fact. But these bad boys rock my ride. Just straight wired to a Pioneer head unit, no amp. I do not see me needing to amp these anyway because they do get loud and they hold their composure very well. These speakers sound absolutely amazing the only thing I would suggest if buying them is to buy speaker wire as that does not come with them and two if putting them on doors of car to get the mount space bracket so your window clears. These speakers fit and look good. Good value for the money. They work pretty good if you are replacing your stock speakers or running them directly to the head unit. If you planning on using them with an amp, they'll fall short.

So this is not really a pro audio speaker as advertised. It's clear and accurate enough, just not compared to polyurethane cone mids. The polys are much better at reproducing voice whereas these are much better at reproducing crunchy guitar. But I'm happy with their sound and these are very inexpensive. My advice is if you're on a tight budget these will get it done. These are great little mids if you listen to a lot of rock and roll or metal. If you listen to a lot of vocal music or pop you might want to invest in a polyurethane cone mid, something like a Recoil or an Infinity Reference or Kappa if you want to spend a little or a lot more. The Recoil is the cheapest option for a polyurethane cone, but it's not the most accurate compared to the more expensive options. It's the next step up from these Skars though. It's also a little better at reproducing bass than the Infinitys, even though that's not really what you're going for with a mid. A pair of 6.5 inch two-way setup with crossovers will run you about $50 here on Amazon. I bought these Skars even though I have a set of Recoils in my front doors, just because I wanted to see how the Skars perform. I have no regrets. There's definitely something to be said for broadening the sound of your system by mixing and matching speakers. ... show more

I went to a stereo shop to replace my rear door speakers. They wanted 150 bucks for 2 speakers and 160 to install =310.. I watched you tube and bought these and WOW!!! they sound better than the Audi Factory speakers. They are great mid Bass speakers!! Highly recommend. Can't go wrong with Skar Audio!! ... show more
