  • Update 1/3/16 Still love this mug!
Size: 22.1 Ounces Style: SKWWF21
This mug is now my favorite cooking utensil in my vast array of microwave utensils. I have now been using this mug for just about every thing I heat and reheat in the microwave oven. Leftover vegetables, stews, soft boiled and scrambled eggs and just boiling water. This cup is also great for making instant oatmeal, hot chocolate and instant anything. I found that it's better to take your cup of soup out of the styrofoam cup, put it in this cup, fill with water and microwave for 3 to 4 minutes and let it stand. I also use it for cold canned and jar fruit, cold cereals and snacks. It's just a damn good mug. I have used it every day and there is no sign of wear and tear. I hand wash all my dishes so I can't verify it being dishwasher safe. I keep reading reviews stating the mug was purchased for leak proof heating and as a travel convenient mug. I have been over the description a few times and have never seen the claim that it is leak proof. As far as travel to the office or whatever, purchase one specifically for the office if there is a microwave available. As far as other travel? Even the so called made to be leak proof mugs leak in my experience. Sisters has a website you should check out. No where on that site does it claim any of their microwave products are leak proof or designed for travel purposes. I think the fact that there is a vent to allow steam to escape would indicate this mug isn't leak proof. By the way, I just used the mug to make a Vinegarette by shaking the mug and it did leak at the vent but that was my mistake. Excellent Excellent! I've been looking for a microwave mug for awhile locally for some time. I'm a widower who can cook well but on occasions a nice bowl of soup, the large 18 oz. size, hits the spot and is a pretty good meal to boot. I have been using a larger bowl with a plastic wrap to cover and heating it in a couple of intervals to heat through. Problems always arose when removing the wrap as the stuff gets like molten lava and transporting to the table or wherever the contents spilled. Then came along this Amazon suggested item. For the pride and from previous experience with this manufacturer I decided to take a chance and ordered the mug. Surprise! It was delivered the following day instead of the Prime two day delivery time. Removing the plastic and labels I washed and dried the item and set it out to dry. That night I decided to give it a try with a can of Chunky New England Clam Chowder. The mug took the entire can with a little space left over. Put the lid on, snapped the lid tight using the three locks and opened the steam vent. Set the microwave on high for three minutes on the turntable. At the end of those minutes I expected to have to remove the lid and as usual stir the soup and to heat another couple of minutes. I didn't have to. I don't know if it's the design or what but the soup was heated through. Place the top back on and moved to the table along with a green salad and crackers. I consumed the salad first then removed the lid to find the soup still steaming. Great! I don't believe the mug is designed for travel in an auto or other moving vehicles. While washing the mug I filled it with soapy water with the locked lid on and did notice some leakage. I plan to order another mug soon and to experiment with other foods to get the best use of the mug. I paid full retail for the mug and received no financial benefits. ... show more

  • Excellent Product that Exceeded my Expectations!!
Size: 22.1 Ounces Style: SKWWF21
I purchased this Mug for my Mother for Christmas and she absolutely Love it!! She uses it for her morning coffee and she said that it's the first Mug that was actually Comfortable to hold as the handle is the perfect size for her hands and it allows her aging hands to securely grip the mug. She also said it keeps her coffee hotter a lot longer than her previous Mugs did and there is no fear of dropping it and breaking it. But the best part is she said it doesn't effect the taste of her coffee like many others. I can tell they have a good QC standard as there was no sharp pieces of flashing left anywhere on the Mug or the Lid, like is so often the case with Injected Plastic Products. Another thing I really appreciate is that the product is made in New Zealand. Honestly that was the biggest selling point for me, as it wasn't made in China like almost everything. I would 100% Recommend this product to others. You cannot beat it for the price and the quality of the product. Would buy again in a heartbeat! Well done Sistema 👏👏👏 ... show more

  • Microwaveable Plastic Containers Work Well if you Keep in Mind:
Size: 22.1 Ounces Style: SKWWF21
I have bought about dozen pieces of Sistema microwaveable containers and use them regularly with no problems. I have noticed a number of very negative reviews for these products; even from the company's native New Zealand. Most of these are about: 1. not being leak proof (Filling them with soup or other liquids and carrying them in lunchbags where they leak) 2. warping or bubbling when used in the microwave. If you are considering these products there are some things I think you should keep in mind: 1. Sistema microwaveable containers (mostly inred plastic) are NOT leak proof. They are made to be heated with the lids on. If they were leak proof they they would tend to explode from the steam pressure. I believe there are pyrex microwaveable leak proof containers but the instructions on them say the lids must be removed when heating. 2. In my opinion, plastic microwaveable containers are suitable for reheating water-based foods, steaming, or short-term boiling. I do not consider them as cookware. If you look on the bottom, the containers are rated as microwaveable to 240 degress F. (The storage containers are rated to 212 degrees F.) This means to me that they are essentially for steaming and heating to the boiling point of water. Tupperware has some guidelines for microwaving that say to avoid heating food containing OIL or SUGAR. Both oil and sugar will easily go over 300 degrees F. I believe that people who melt their plastic containers are trying to heat food high in oil and/or sugar and not enough water so it goes over the melting point of the plastic. ... show more

  • Simple, sturdy, useful for travel
Size: 22.1 Ounces Style: SKWWF21
These cups are very useful while traveling. Being lightweight but sturdy, easily sealed, and microwavable are the primary benefits. We just bought two more in different colors, and now have a total of three. We did not get both of the colors we thought we ordered, but at least we still have 3 different colors. We have used them in hotel rooms to microwave leftovers, or heat water for tea. I have also used an immersion heater to heat water (carefully!) for use in a portable espresso device. They are just big enough for a small immersion heater with its cord to fit in the mug without trouble. The top is not designed to be left on while drinking beverages, but I don't use them as travel mugs. We have one for each carry-on suitcase. The same brand makes square boxes that are even more useful for storage and heating of leftovers. ... show more

  • No more splashes in the microwave
Size: 22.1 Ounces Style: SKWWF21
I enjoy using several of the Sistema Microwave products as they are sturdy with great functionality. This soup mug is great for office and home avoiding splashes in the microwave because of the vent.
