When I first received the cutter, it wouldn’t cut. I started a return with Amazon and then thought I really need to give the manufacturer a chance to resolve the issue. I really wasn’t taking any risk since I could still return it to Amazon if Singer didn’t provide a timely support. I contacted Singer and they were great. They did try to support troubling shooting via email, but I still couldn’t get the machine to cut. Singer immediately said they would provide me a new machine and sent me a UPS shipping label. As soon as they received notice that I shipped the machine to them, they started the process of sending me a new machine. I received the machine two weeks after I sent mine. This is over the Christmas holidays, so two weeks was expected. Their customer support kept me updated during the entire process via email. The replaced machine works great and will be a great timesaver when cutting out fabric for bags. I just love the machine and glad I made the effort to contact Singer!!! Their support was excellent!

So I ordered hope for the best, but got the worst. It come a day earlier than expected so that's about all that was good about my experience. So starting off, the Amazon box that this came in had all its edges dinged and bent, granted this was a big box so that was given, but as I pull out the manufacturing box that the machine comes in, one side of the box was completely torn revealing the content side. I gave it the benefit that maybe the protection around the machine did its job. As soon as I pull the machine out of its box, the bottom of the machine has rubber pads and under neath thr rubber pads are screws. All the screws were loose and one even fell off. I tightened all the screws still hoping this would be fine. But as soon as I go to plug in the machine there is no power. I unplug it from behind the machine and as I try plugging back it throws out sparks. So I give up and put it all back in it's box and get it ready to return. I was very disappointed, I really wanted this machine to be the one.

This machine really is powerful! We have been able to cut so many things for our crafting business (and pleasure). The instructions are detailed and easy to follow and understand. It was fairly simple to set up and connect to our PC. The display is clear and bright. Love it!!!

The cutter is great. I love it already. I have three Cricut Makers and just everything about learning them, in the beginning, was unnecessarily difficult. The Singer Momento is much easier to learn and to use. And, the software is free, which is a bonus. The downside is the mat that was included with the cutter is terrible. It is cheap and has lost its stickiness already. It is also warped which messes with the loading and accuracy of the cut. The Singer mats are on backorder and the customer service SUCKS so I purchased some off brand mats off of Amazon. Overall, I think the machine is good for the price.

It’s a solid build, but the software needs to be flushed and it’s not as clear. The manual is a bit unclear as well. Not really a great cutting machine and requires a lot of time of troubleshooting and getting it right.

This cutter has so much promise! I love the idea of cutting fat quarters of fabric. Unfortunately, it only worked as expected for one day. On the second day it began starting all cuts about 3/4” below the top of the cutting area on the mat. Obviously, that’s a big problem because all cuts are shifted down and you cannot use the entire cutting area. Plus I am worried that at some point it will cut in the correct place, in which case I will have placed the fabric in the wrong spot. I did all that I could to resolve the problem including trying different devices to send the file, restarting my devices and the Momento, and restoring the Momento to factory settings. I then contacted Singer about this issue twice with no response. The machine will be returned to Amazon. So disappointing.

I am very familiar with a variety of cutting craft machines. I own my own business and have gone through a bunch of them. I would say I have plenty of experience to give an honest and complete review. First, I noticed the shear weight of this machine before I even took it out of the box. Its a beast. If your looking for a travel machine that you can tote with you like the Cricut and silhouette machines this wont be for you. Its about 36" long and heavy. It came safe and sound and no issues there, as everything works perfectly and without blemish. The back and front doors folds down creating a nice stable and level cutting surface. It was easy to unbox and set up. Inserting the tools and pens is equally as easy as any other machine, but the quality of the rotary tool is by far better, and the pen is easier to change out and use. Setting up the machine does require windows or mac computer or laptop without having to call customer support to find out how to do this. First, you will connect your machine to the wifi using the machines touch screen. I also named the machine, and selected inches as my measurement choice. Buttons are very small but easy to use. This was very simple to do. Then I created my account for mysewnet through the app, (this is where Id learned of the devices that can be used. Upon installing the software it was as easy as pie to connect my machine, easier then other machines Ive used that require passkeys and bluetooth that can be a pain. You can use wifi or usb to connect to your momento machine. Moving on to the cutting software. It is still basic as its a new machine for this company and they are constantly improving and updating just as other companies have done over the years. So far Im only using the free version as I create my own designs and import them in. The crafting feature for the momento can only be used in mysewnet from a tablet/ipad or windows and mac. iphones at least (I don't have android to test it out) can not access the crafting part of the app at the time of this review; I do hope this will change in time. For now I am using my windows laptop to create new designs, and import new ones. I loved that this cut 24" wide but how long would it cut? 24'x24" is what it will cut with a mat but without a mat it allows me to custom create without a mat a 24" by 54" for example...but until I hit cut I wont know if this is actually possible but seems so; I will for sure update once I cut it that large. For the purpose of leaving a review I have gotten it set up and completed one project on my own that Singer doesnt provide much instruction on. They dont provide much instruction at all so some patience and trial and error my be needed if your inexperienced with craft cutters, but will be worth it in the end with having a larger work space. How to cut a file of my own making to create a vinyl decal was what I started with. I discovered that while the software will use a variety of files if you want more then just the print and cut options it does need to be a SVG file format for this project type. I find it has all the same stye basic tools (you just need time to reorientate to the new software) and can pretty much do everything the maker offers for example. I imagine with more time and users there will be more tutorials that become available taking out a lot of the trial and error or guess work. When you send it to the cutter to be cut you go through a series of screens to make sure all your settings are correct, similar to the cut dials on other cutter brands. The cut mat is not the same size as other cut mats, so you will need to get them from singer or use without a mat option. The machine does cut quietly compared to some others. It also cuts faster. Overall, Im truly excited now that Im not limited by reg craft machine limitations, giving me an edge ahead. Overall, the quality is very nice. The machines cut size is comparable to commercial cutters but at a fraction of the price of those cutters, and allows you to create more projects like smaller craft machines.
