We wanted something to store and hide shoes in by our front door. This did the trick. Pros: 1) Solid wood (not sure what kind but it is) 2) Nice finish, nice hardware, 3) Well made, overall a nice piece of assemble-yourself furniture 4) Instructions were well laid out and relatively easy to follow. 5) Excellently packed to prevent damage in transit. 6) It’s a nice-looking piece of furniture and a good price. Cons: 1) If you are not handy with hand tools, this kind of furniture isn't for you. There are lots of parts and they take some time to assemble. There is just enough ambiguity in the picture instructions to allow someone to assemble some parts backward and thus have to disassemble and reassemble correctly. It's not a big deal really but an annoyance. I am great at this kind of thing and still, it took me upwards of 3 hours to put this together I needed help with parts of it because, without 4 arms, you can't always screw things together while holding them in place. 2) If you have LARGE shoes, such as boots or ankle highs, they aren't likely going to fit in this as designed. You can remove one of the separators on one of the tilt-out doors and it may fit large shoes better, but it will then hold fewer shoes overall. 3) Its shallow depth and light weight make it a tipping hazard. If a kid climbed on it or if you opened all drawers at the same time, it could tip forward without some sort of anchoring. They give you hardware to address this but that requires attaching it to the wall which were loath to do. I may design some sort of removable anchor so we can move it to clean under it from time to time but for now, we will just be careful with it. Along this line, the design only permits the storage drawer to open halfway which makes it a bit useless. We chose this design item specifically for the drawer to store dog leashes and other such things. I was able to change how the drawer stop worked so that the drawer could open about ¾ way and still not fall out - this addressed that deficiency. Overall – Happy with the purchase – looks good and served the function for which it was purchased. ... show more

I’ve assembled countless pieces of IKEA furniture, so I’m not new to self asssembly. However, it took me an appreciable amount of time to put this together. I did not find it difficult, just time consuming. Have to pay careful attention to the instructions, which are reasonably clear.. this is a handsome cabinet and worth the price. ... show more

This is the piece that started it all. Wanting quality real wood. I added frosted vinyl to the glass because the cabinet houses shoes. However, I do wish it was a bit deeper for my hubby's larger shoes. Ended up ordering a trunk to place his boots and complement the cabinet. Next will be a couple of side tables for the living room. Overall I really like the quality, style and ease of putting it together. They give plenty of extra hardware. I even like the prongs on the square knobs so they don’t twist. Eventually found the drawer stops attached to the back of them. Took me a minute to notice them, probably in the manual but overlooked. It was a woo-hoo moment. Some things don’t line up perfect. One door is slightly off and one draw seems to stick a little. Overall nice furniture. ... show more

I ordered this cabinet with some trepidation because RTA furniture is not something I generally think is worth the money, but I saw that it was solid wood so I decided to go for it. The assembly instructions were about average, but bonus points for being extremely well packed and arriving in almost perfect condition. Every part was clearly labeled and instructions were detailed enough that assembly was pretty simple. The holes in the back of both drawer fronts were clogged with something (probably excess stain/laquer) that I had to manually chip out, and causing the cam lock pins to be difficult to install straight, but I’m pretty handy and that was the only challenge I had with assembly. I like that the back is scewed on rather than nailed in like some pieces. The resulting cabinet is lightweight and the wood is easy to dent, but overall since it’s actually real wood I consider it a good value. The style of the piece certainly makes it look more expensive than it is. I added some film to the inside of the glass to hide the contents from view. 4.5/5 stars isn’t an option so I give this 5. It’s really a very nice piece for the price. ... show more

First the piece came up under the stereo cabinet search so I assumed that it would hold stereo components; not the case. It is just a storage cabinet with no holes for wires or air circulation. Further the shelves are too narrow to hold any components. Secondly the quality of the piece looked good out of the box, but as it was put together things did not fit and required some mussel to make things align. The doors do not line up and the shelf pins did not want to go into the holes. I will say that the parts and assembly instructions were good. While I still liked the looks of the piece the quality was just not there and it would not serve my purpose. Amazon was great about returning it. They credited my account and arranged for pick-up of the now assembled unit. They were very gracious about the whole situation. ... show more
