So far though, this clamping light has been great. The lamp sits clamped to the fence in our back yard, and has gone through 2 rounds of heavy rain. It still works perfectly. It's light, but durable, and the clamp is seriously sturdy. It latches on tightly, and isn't affected by the wind. Because it's so light, and because the clamp is so tight, I can move the light around easily. I can hold it with one hand while I work, or just clamp it on to the wood portion of my grill for a more closeup lighting source. This clamp lamp works great. Now, it is not a real heavy duty like the ones I bought at a supply store many years ago. It is thin aluminum and has a lightweight build. But it functions well. I actually kind of like like that it is a lighter weight metal because when these type of lamps get too top heavy it is hard to keep them angled right. The light bulbs I use are already pretty heavy so I think that having less weight to add on top of that is a good thing. Of course you need to be more careful with it because it will get dings more easily than a heavyweight metal lamp would. I am using it in a pop-up greenhouse and I never really have to move it around or anything so that's not really an issue for me. Someone working in a garage or shop might want a heavier-duty one but this works perfectly for me. If I find that I need more in the future I will happily order this brand. ... show more

Very simple, very cheap. Cheaper than my local hardware store, but the build quality is also lower. For my use case, though these work very well and don't need to be durable. I took 4 of these and attached them to the rafters in my partially finished garage. Add 4 cheap LED bulbs (Cree on Amazon, 2x warm, 2x cool) and you have a very nice quality of light for under $50. No new electrical. No fancy fixtures. They move very well so I can put light where I need it. A word of warning though, these are soft. They will get dinged up very easily so I would be careful or get a sturdier brand if you need durability. ... show more

Very good for a $8 or $9 dollar light fixture. I was especially impressed with the clamp -- it is very strong and it is made out of rubber so it is less likely to scratch or damage whatever object you might clamp it to. My dad commented that this clamp light fixture is also a very convenient way to move a light around -- and I would say he is right. This fixture seems to be a great choice for a portable light source. (Certainly easier than trying to move an entire lamp around). You might need to use an extension cord with this lamp as the cord it comes with is only six feet long. (This lamp fixture does *not* include a light bulb). My dad is currently using this with his "TaoTronics LED Grow Lights Bulb" for indoor plants -- this clamp light fixture fits the TaoTronics bulb just fine. ... show more

I read the reviews indicating that it might be a flimsy product and it certainly is. Depending on what your purpose is this may or may not be a good choice. In my case it was a temporary solution so this flimsiness may not affect me that much, but I suspect this is not the case for most people and therefore I cannot give it high marks. It hasn't shorted or anything, but since the materials that make up the dome are weak I would have a hard time feeling comfortable trusting the rest of the product as safe. GOOD: It functions as it should and the clamp seems to work so far. CONS: The metal that it is made of is very cheap and malleable. When it arrived it was dented in multiple locations and I was able to push the dents out with almost no force using my fingers. It took about as much effort to fix the dents as popping a plastic carton back in place. ... show more
