Is this is a great jacket? I can't tell, I don't understand how Simms can produce an XXL jacket with short 36" sleeve lengths. I really wear an XL, I have a 37 in sleeve length and the size chart isn't even close for a XXL. I commonly need to buy big to get the sleevelength I need. Common folks you have velcro cuffs put an extra 1.5" of sleeve length on your jackets. Continually cursed by manufacturers who try to save a few bucks on some material. I'd gladly pay more for a jacket that could actually fit. Do some customer research and solve this problem. Thank You.

Simms puts out some pretty quality stuff, but I was surprised at some of the details, tethered chamois in the chest pocket was a nice touch, but here’s what you want to know; the jacket is the 2 layer style which is more than a shell, but less than a winter coat, but it is slightly oversized for layering. I can wear a cotton hoodie under it with no discomfort, so thermal base layers will be perfect for fall and winter. I’m 5’10” around 195-200 lbs and I bought the large, it feels perfect. The jacket is very functional, but it’s not a bad looking piece either. If you’re in the fence for a jacket for winter fly fishing I would recommend it.

This is my husband’s second time purchasing this jacket (and bottoms). He loves fishing in it. One day a fellow fisherman was caught without rain gear and my husband lent him his original set. Well the guy loved them so much he wouldn’t give them back and just paid my husband for them!

My husband is an avid fisherman off the Oregon coast where it is rainy about 80% of the time. He is also a human furnace, so while he wanted rain proof he didn't want hot. He has gone through several rain jackets over the years but couldn't find the one that was rain proof and breathable. This fit the bill exactly! This beads up the water and it runs right off, but he doesn't get sweaty or too warm in it. It has plenty of room to layer underneath. He loves that the hood tucks away into the collar and isn't too bulky. I bought this for him as a birthday gift and he said it is exactly the one he would have chosen if he was shopping for his dream rain coat. It's perfect!

It blocks the wind, but must have something underneath (at least a layer of thermal underwear with T-shirt). With T-shirt alone - if the wind is cold, you will freeze your butt off. On the flip side - it is much easier to remove the base layer when its hot. The jacket is breezable and blocks the wind very well.

I am 6'6" 350lbs, I purchased the 4x and it is huge. I actually bought one a little big because I wanted the option of wearing a heavy hoodie underneath, this fits the bill. Coat seems excellent out of the box and the fit is exactly where I wanted it to be, cannot be happier. Will add to this review when I return from AK.

Wore these in the driving rain/wind for hours in Washington in January. I am 6’ 200 lbs. and I wear the bibs too. I have room underneath for two thermals and a flannel. I am warm and dry the entire time. I did not get the insulated version just the regular type. But totally happy. Worth the cost to keep me fishing during less busy times.

First time I wore this jacket I was fishing off the oregon coast in 40 degree weather. Light to moderate rain for about 6 hours. Kept me dry and warm. I'm 6'1" 210lbs and the size large fits perfectly for me. There's enough room for a few light layers underneath. I was worried about the collar being too tall but it along with the hood makes for a bombproof, but comfortable above shoulder set up. Match these with the bibs and you'll be ready to fish all day in the rain. We'll see how they hold up. Really happy with this purchase. I think Simms nailed the price to value on this jacket (and bibs).
