  • 5 star on a budget
This scope is clear and has great eye relief as well as light gathering in the 50mm version. Great value and bought 3 so far.

  • Awesome scope for the price/quality ratio. I will be buying these in the future for range rifles.
Update: I just put 500 rounds through my AR this past weekend with this scope. It stood up to the beating and held its zero perfectly. It held up mechanically just fine and I had no eye strain from looking through it for so long. I can't recommend this scope any higher. It's a great deal for the $! See below for original review: I am really happy with this scope. Surprisedly! I almost exclusively put Leupold optics on my rifles, but I was interested in mounting something on my AR for shooting at the range. I didn't want to buy a new Leupold just for my AR, hate it on the AR (obviously you can't hate the Leupold itself), and then have something sitting in my safe waiting for my next rifle purchase. Here's my thoughts: Pros: - The price for this can't be beat. Seriously, for the quality of scope that you get with respect to the price, I am really impressed. No, it's not Leupold quality, but it's also not even close to the same price. You can buy close to 10 of these for the price of a Leupold. Would I put one of these on a rifle that I am packing into the mountains, heavily invested into an elk hunt, no. But for a range rifle, heck yeah. I'm thrilled. - The zero has held between trips to the range, and that's an important hallmark of a good scope. Your zero cannot drift. My last trip to the range, I started to drift bad, and was confused, but soon realized my rings were loose on my Pic rail. Tightened them back down, and back on zero. - The clarity through this lens is quite good, again, with respect to the price. I am equally impressed. There's a slight blur around the edge, but nothing worth worrying about. It's very slight. Cons: - None to report. Overall, I am thrilled with this scope, especially with the price. I did decide that I didn't like the larger objective on my AR, so I ended up taking this one off, buying the 40mm objective of this same scope, and mounting it. Now I have an excuse to go out and do more shooting to get it dialed back in. I put this 50mm on my 45-70. So far, the beating that the 45-70 puts out hasn't affected the scope at all. • Good scope, Great price.
(By the husband of "momtoall5.") Just received the Simmons 3-9X50mm rifle scope. I am quite impressed with it so far. I say so far because I have not had the chance to mount it yet as I will explain later. Initial impression of the scope was positive. Very nice looking scope with lens caps and cleaning cloth. Feels well constructed and solid. Now, I don't get overly excited about scopes in general, it's a scope. I looks like any other scope. I have used very few scopes in my life having preferred to use open sights. I do have a few cheap scopes around though and I have one mounted on my .22 cal air rifle I use for squirrel hunting. It is a 4X32 that came standard with the gun and it leaves alot to be desired which was my reason for getting this scope to begin with. Having nothing more than that cheap 4x32 scope to use as an "average" scope (or 3 stars) I have to say this is well above average. The magnification of this scope at the lowest setting gives me a crisper, brighter image than the 4x32 by far. (Also seems to be equal in magnification) At the most powerful setting (9x) ,with a properly sighted in rifle, you could easily maintain a 1" grouping at 100 yrds. By the way, the parallax is set to 100 yards. As for mounting, be sure to get yourself rings which will allow clearance of the 50mm objective lens. If your rifle has a dovetail, it may be easier to pick up a dovetail to picatanny rail adapter so you get more options. Unfortunately, My rings and rail adapter have not arrived yet so I haven't been able to mount this on my rifle. But, that's okay because I was so pleased with the optics that I decided it needed a better rifle to be mounted on...and it hasn't arrived yet either. Now for the downside. The only one I have so far and it's not anything major. The "audible" clicks on the windage and elevation adjustments are more like pauses with no click what so ever. You can most generally feel where those stops are supposed to be, but it's very easy to go right past one or two if you aren't turning slowly. Other than that, I am pleased with the scope. If anything changes after it is mounted, I will update this review. ... show more

  • Good for the price
For the price it’s great valve. Adjustment knobs are on the stiffer side and clicks aren’t as audible as I’d like. Zoom is pretty stiff to turn as well. Glass clarity is good for the price. Does not come with rings. I’d put this on low recoil rifles (Rimfire or 223). Wouldn’t use on spring piston air guns or larger calibers Easy to zero on my .22 ... show more
