If you’re not sure about buying this air purifier, let me assure you, it works! My daughter is a nail tech and does a lot of her friends’ nails in our home. Even when she’s in the basement with her door closed, the acrylic and acetone fumes can fill most of the house in just minutes and last for hours afterward. The amount of dust that is generated from all of the nail filing and grinding concerned us as well. After a lot of research, I bought the SilverOnyx (in white), put it in her “studio” and hoped it would help, even a little. Wow!! We were stunned the first time she did a set of acrylics with the purifier running. We COULD NOT smell ANY fumes…even while standing in the studio after her friend had left! Like, none! It was amazing! When the fan speed is on high, it’s about as loud as a little personal table top fan. You can definitely hear it, but it’s not so loud and obnoxious that you have to raise your voice to be heard. When it’s on sleep mode, you literally can’t hear it at all. Complete silence. It doesn’t take up a lot of space and it’s not heavy or ugly to look at. I love the ion and LED light buttons, too. I’ll move it into our open kitchen/family room/dining room area to get rid of occasional food smells and within minutes, they’re gone! We’ve had it for about four or five months now and couldn’t be happier. I haven’t had to replace the filter yet so I can’t comment on that. What I can say is that the SilverOnyx has delivered everything it promised and exceeded my highest expectations!

This thing is great! If you're thinking about it, get it. I love the idea of things getting trapped in the filter and hit with UV. It does come with it's flaws, but to me they are minor. Here is what I have noticed so far: There is no way to turn off the audio. It would be nice to be able to adjust the settings without such a loud beep at times. there is also a significant amount of noise increase going from fan speed 3->4 than there is between any other speed. I think they could have dialed in more consistent spread of speeds if they are going to offer 5 settings. If you are wanting the 500sqft setting be prepared for a loud fan. I have a modern window a/c unit and It can compete in volume to my ear. With that being said, it is a lower pitched hum than say a microwave fan that makes the db slightly less noticeable. Speed setting medium 3 is tolerable and may be enough for a bedroom or small gathering room while 4->5 are more of high and turbo speed. I'm not sure if speed 1 moves enough air to be worth the electricity needed to run the machine tbh however speed 2 would be ideal for a cubical. I had it on 5 During the entire Christmas Day and it made everyone feel a little better bc of the UV and Filter combo.

It’s a great little filter. Even in another room, the moment I burn (or “enthusiastically cook”?) something, it nearly immediately noticed and the color changes and it spins up until it’s satisfied the air is clean. I love the UV light option. Not sure how effective it is, but it helps me feel a tiny bit better during a pandemic. I eventually ordered a second one so I can run one per floor of my home. My main complaint is the sleep mode. It goes pretty silent when you switch over to it, but it keeps the lighting on. If you turn the lighting off, then switch to sleep mode, it turns the lightly BACK on - although it is not quite as bright as it normally is. Note that when you turn the lighting off, it also makes the LED displays completely useless to see what mode it is currently in (just tap the light “button” and you’ll be able to see). Also in case you’re having a dumb moment like I initially did, you need to plug in the power cable, flip the physical power switch on the back to “On,” then tap the power “button” on the top of the device in order to power it on the first time. I guess it’s nice to have a physical on/off button... in case the top buttons/sensors stop working...??

Im not writing this review based on my experience, but on the experience of the friend that I bought this purifier for. I had a friend over for dinner and I realized she was struggling in someway really bad. She explained that she has severe allergies to pretty much everything that’s flying around in the air. Sometimes it almost gets to the point to where she has to hospitalize her self because she almost can’t breath for hours on end. Right then I decided to compare at least 20 different brands (that were under $200) and decided to buy this beauty. When it came to me in the mail I immediately had it taken over to my friends house (she doesn’t know it’s me). She is in love with this thing, let me tell ya if this SilverOnyx was a human they would be married by now! She is now able to breath very deeply with no weasing or the ‘I just really want to die because I’m so miserable’ look; and breathing does not require any effort while inside her house. So based on my friends experience and the noticeable difference in her life, I would highly recommend this filter for anyone who is struggling with allergies. Just as a side note... I learned that this is a family owned company, and I believe that family owned companies are always worth supporting. Plus the customer service is amazing. They emailed me just to confirm that my package came to my house. No one does that anymore. I was and still am extremely impressed. (P.S. if your one of those that don’t have a lot of money to spare, I’d recommend stashing 5-10 bucks here and there so you can afford the replacement filter. Seriously the SilverOnyx air purifier is worth the purchase!)
