This ice maker is is very easy to use. The screen is lighted to it's easy to see, even in low light. It turns out ice quickly. It has a large water reservoir so it can make a large amount of ice before needing a refill. It has an insert on the top so you can put a water bottle on it. I don't know if that works well or not as I don't have enough room above the ice maker to utilize this feature. I use only distilled water in it so the ice always tastes good. You need to empty the ice out and store in your freezeras it's made because it doesn't store the ice for you. And you need to break the ice block apart before you put them in your freezer so you have individual cubes. I put them in zip lock bags. You also need to unplug it after use. Not a big deal. All that is much easier than plodding of to the store for more ice. I love this ice maker. I don't have an ice maker in my fridge freezer so this is super convenient. I hate having to go to the store for ice. This ice tastes better anyway. And the cubes are long lasting, not like the bullet shaped ice. I had a problem with the first one Amazon sent, it didn't work. But the ice maker company includes the customer support phone number in their instruction booklet. I called that number and talked to a real live person! What's a concept! He was very nice, gave me some ideas to try and said if those didn't work I needed to contact Amazon for a new one. Which I did. And I got a new one within 2 days. New one is perfect. Now, I don't know how long this one will work. The last one I got (a different brand) lasted less than a year. So we'll see how well this one lasts. I'll post another review if it gives out. But if you're looking for a good ice maker at a decent price get this one. It's great! I have had this machine for about 6 months. No problems. I do use distilled water instead of tap water or reverse osmosis water. I have super clear ice every time. I had to experiment as to my preferred thickness of ice that I like. I held the on/off button for a count of 6…..which made the ice thicker than I wanted. I then held the on/off button for a count of 3….. this made perfect ice for me. To the count of 2 when holding the on/off button the ice was thin and melted in my glass too soon. Everyone has a special like of their own. I hope you find yours. Some reviews have had very negative experiences with this machine. To you I say, “I am sorry.” I have been there myself on occasion. I know it sounds a bit extreme to use distilled water in my machine. For me it works very well as my husband makes distilled water at home, Even if I didn’t have “free” distilled water, I would purchase it and use it in my ice machine. I get “no” mineral deposits attaching to my ice machine. A gallon of distilled water weighs 8.3 pounds and costs around 1.35, depending on your location. $1.35 for over 8 pounds of ice isn’t bad. I do hope that you will enjoy your new ice machine as I have been enjoying mine. ... show more

I bought this solely for making ice for my polar plunge tub and its amazing. The timer function is awesome, it puts out pounds of ice and it keeps ice cold in the container until I can bag it up, that being said, if I was using it to make a cocktail or something im not sure I would like it due to the blocks of ice that it dispenses vs individual nuggets so I would keep that in mind when purchasing. ... show more

The ice is good and long lasting. I live in NC so it gets hot. It is best when using distilled water but you can use bottled water or filtered water. I would not use tap although it does have a cleaning function. The fan on this this can be a little loud… about the same as a quiet dish washer. When low on water (and trying to suck from the reservoir) the noise can be annoying. Also, it can blow some really warm air as it makes ice. The only thing that could make it better would be more insulation in the ice bucket area. I would recommend. It is worth the price. ... show more

I got this countertop ice machine for some outdoor entertaining, and for in the garage. I spend a lot of time in my garage and always have to come back in the house to refresh my beverage. Having cold drinks in my minifridge and and ice machine makes it so much easier. And, I don't dirty up the house as much, trapsing in and out. Here are my observations about this machine: It works by chilling the stainless steel 'tray' and running water over it. As the water gets colder it freezes in the tray. After the tray reaches a cold enough temperature, that signals the machine that the trays is full of ice. The system pauses and the ice drops into the bin. The next cycle begins. 1. I really like the way it is designed. I understand the tech inside it and am very impressed with how well it works. It is so capable, yet so compact. The fit and finish of all the components equals that of commercial machines. Very well made. 2. I like how quickly it produces ice. After I filled the tank with room temperature water, it was about 20 minutes until it dumped the first 'tray' of cubes. That load was not as well formed as the subsequent loads. But, it was good enough to ice down four tall glasses of tea. Then, it continued to pump out a new 'tray' about every 15 minutes. Each tray being better than the last. About half way through that first gallon of water, it was chilled enough that the cubes were completely formed and crystal clear. 3. I like the quantity of ice that one tank of water will produce. As you can see in one of my pictures, I have two 1 gallon storage bags full of ice, all from one tank. 4. I like the convenience. Not just about having an ice machine where I want it. But, also for the filling options. You can either fill the tank manually, and / or place up to a 2.5 gallon water jug on top for continuous operation. (The instructions really didn't go into the jug option. But, all you do is leave the black jug adapter plate in place. You have to lift it off, to manually fill the tank.) There is a trip plate in the ice collection bin that will stop operation, once the bin is full. I really look forward to the warmer months, when I can be outside more, in the garage more and have cold, iced beverages on hand, thanks to this Silonn countertop ice machine. ... show more
