  • Working great, makes ice at the rated speed!
Size: 100lbs
This product is certainly "easy to install". I put that in quotes, since you need a water line coming in, and a drain line going out. It's very easy, in that it just plugs into your power outlet (no hard wiring), but if you aren't particularly handy you might need a plumber to run those lines for you. But it's not a complicated install either way. Some things to note, and none of these are 'knocks' on the Euhomy, this is the way all ice makers in this category operate, but if you're just getting one for the first time for your house, maybe you didn't know. 1) The bin where the ice is stored is just a bin. Ice in there will slowly melt over time. Only the part of the machine where the ice is made is chilled. This is probably a good thing for you. It makes this product much more affordable, and it is friendlier to your electric bill. 2) You need three things - a power outlet (regular 110V), a water line coming in (same as your refrigerator's ice maker needed), and a drain line coming out - remember that bin? When ice melts, it becomes water. That will pool on the floor, or you can run the line and remove the water. Do that. ;) In my case, we installed it in our garage. It's not obnoxiously loud, but if you put it in your kitchen, you WILL hear the condenser come on as it's making ice. It sits about 6 feet from our hot water heater, so we had a relatively easy install, we had a guy tap that water line for the heater, and run it also to the Euhomy. Voila, ice coming in! We installed a water filter in between the water line and the ice maker, because filtration! For the drain line, there was no way to get it safely outside my garage floor without a condensate pump. All ice makers like this rely on a gravity drain. If the drain line runs DOWN, gravity will ensure the water leaves. The further you run that line, the less likely you can keep it sloping downward. So any local big box hardware store will sell for under $100 a water condensate pump. Run the line to the pump, and then from the pump to a place where it's safe for water to go, and you're good to go. Our line from the ice maker to the pump is a downward slope, and the pump has a float, then when it floats that means enough water is in the unit, and it pumps it out of our house. Get a good pump, the cheap ones fail relentlessly. Our same plumber ran that line right next to where the water heater's exit line was, drilled a small hole, and boom - all my melted ice water flows safely to the grass outside my garage. One last thing... I'll say it again. If you need a condensate pump, buy a good one. The first one we had died really quick. The cheap ones are very cheap, and being in the garage didn't help (the motor overheated). We knew it failed right away, there was puddle of water on the floor one morning, and the unit was very hot. It had a small fan near the power supply that burned out within a month of installation. I bought a much better pump, and have had no problems yet. It also has a float-less design (one less thing to get 'stuck') and lots of indicators. Don't spend $400-500 on a ice maker, and possibly $200-400 on a plumber and then stick a cheap pump in there. Get a good pump if you need it! Because it's in a garage, and because that garage is in South Florida, I did use the timer feature to let it "freeze" ice longer. I have it set to +4 - which basically means it freezes the ice an additional four minutes before dropping it in the bin. The ice was a little to "soft" with some unfrozen water in the middle of the cube otherwise. Depending on where your ice maker is, you might not need that drastic an adjustment. It still makes ice really quick and really often. The ONLY other quirk is... it's rainy season in Florida. We get a lot of thunderstorms, and our power likes to blip out for a minute or two sometimes. This unit will NOT turn itself back on. So some morning I walk in, and the bin is less than full because the power in the house went out briefly. Push the power button, reset my timer to +4 and I'm good to go. I wish it had an auto-power feature to turn itself back on. I may add a small UPS to avoid the power interruptions, and to prolong the life on the unit. ... show more

  • Review on Euhomy Commercial Ice Machine
Size: 100lbs
The media could not be loaded. Hello I am from the Bahamas and i am an entrepreneur, I was interested in buying an ice machine because i sell beverages on the road, and stumbled across this product, based on the reviews. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the bad reviews so I asked a friend and also my dad what were their opinions, my dad told me to give it another week (decision making process) and my friend told me to get this. So I got this the following week, as was advised from my friend, as this was and probably still is number #1 top Commercial ice machine and a fast seller. The installation wasn't all too hard, despite me having no experience in plumbing nor electrical, it took back and forth trips to the hardware store and probably about $300 in labor and supplies which comprised of the electrical and plumbing work of course. After the installation was completed I gave it an additional 12 hours prior to starting it up to ensure the PVC glue cured well, hence the machine received more than 24 hours in an upright position as stated (advised) on the front facing. I started the machine the next day and allowed it to self-clean for 20 minutes before making the first batch of ice. Everything sounded normal, however during this phase i thought the machine encountered a problem due to the length of time it took to fill up with water (flashing arrow indicating machine is filling up) to my avail that eventually disappeared and the machine cleaning phase had completed and it went into ice making mode automatically. All i did was watch as the ice was being slowly made, i stepped out of the shed to do some other work around the house and came back to see what was the state of it, it was flashing "08 min" indicating 8 minutes left before the completion of the first batch of ice. The ice fell into the bin( a bit loudly), but i didn't mind all i wanted was ice. There it was my first (premature formed) batch of ice. After witnessing it dispense the first batch, i left it alone for 2-3 hours, coming back however i was shocked to see how little ice it had made. I then began to observe it more closely to discern exactly what could be causing it to make premature ice and not fill up. I noticed after every batch of ice that was made, the dispensing tube would wet the bin up (that the ice would drop in) and sort of defeat the purpose of what the machine was intended to do(make ice). Immediately i contacted customer support, and was advised to send videos accompanied with other information. Willow responded in about under a day, after all it was over the weekend so i had assumed company hours was offline at the time, fortunately i didn't had to wait until Monday for a response and got a message from Willow @ Euhomy customer support on sunday. Willow said the tube letting out the water above the ice trays was not positioned properly and if i would not mind to rotate the tube where the holes (nine of them) would point downwards. I did that (very easy to do) and started the machine again. WaLah ! :) Happy Boy, Ice was now maturely being produced and was not melting down after every completed cycle. I will upload pictures and a video. The machine has been running almost 7 days str8 so far it has encountered one (E2) error, but i think that was because the bin being full of ice held down the white flap for a while (presumably speaking). I am pleased that with this product and would advise other people to buy it as well, customer service is quite reputable. I wanted to upload the video of what it was doing prior to the fix but i could of only uploaded 1 video. ~ Additional note: Makes a TON of ice ~ Update: Excellent Customer Support, I'd recommend this product or any Euhomy product to anyone interested in ice machines(No wonder they are #1 in commercial ice machines ^_^), just based on their customer support reliability. ~SIX STARS ~ ... show more
