  • Sillbird robot kit is a nice project for an enthusiastic student
The Sillbird robot kit allows the user/student an opportunity to organize the plastic parts into labeled bags prior to the build. A young student will love this kit, but some adult supervision might be needed to help get the person started. In my experience, once that happened, the student was well on their way to a great building experience. We built the “rolly polly” robot first and it worked. We used a light bulb from a lamp to test out the solar cells that were connected to the electric motor. There are lots of gears in this build so you have to study the diagrams in the work book to get things right. I actually have two kits, so I can prep before helping on a future build. ... show more

  • Excellent customer service
I got this as a present and we haven’t opened the package for several months, when we put it together (a bit difficult, adult help needed for sure), the solar panel did not work. After sending an email to the manufacturer (in the product brochure) they answered back within 24 hours and they have sent me a replacement solar panel for it with no charge. Excellent customer service, will buy other products from them in the future. The only disadvantage of this little robot is there is no stop bottom, you have to disconnect it. ... show more

  • Make sure to help your kid with this
Do not think that this is like “Lego”. Instructions are more complicated and differences between pieces are not very marked. My kid is good assembling blocks but with this one he asked for help because is not so easy. But once that all is together is really nice to see how it works. Do not spect high quality pieces ... show more

  • Have to use under sun
Assemble is a bit challenge for a 8-year. Fun for adult though. The drawback is that solar power piece only works when directly under-sun, not "chargeable".

  • Great toy!
Difficult build but Grandson, 8 year old, able to complete with some direction! Part numbers were difficult to see.

  • Need an adult
It's too complicated for kids. Need adult help. The plastic parts are very small. Instructions are very complicated. Most importantly, the small plastic parts are hard to separate from the mold - must push hard in order to break it off for assembly and that scratches fingers.
