The good news: A decent looking porcelain flush toilet that has functioned well in modest use. Materials seem of high quality. Customer Service was very helpful with a few setup issues and prompt. What could be improved? For a name like Silent Venus, well it’s hardly silent. A few seconds after flushing you loudly hear the macerator turn on briefly… then repeat one or two additional times. It sounds like a blender on high… which of course it basically is. But why didn’t they soundproof the macerating unit? Perhaps it’s much quieter than the competition - I can’t say. Anyway you’ll probably get used to the noise. A more bothersome issue is that very little water remains standing at the bottom of the toilet bowl so bits of solid waste can cling to the dry sides of the bowl and must be brushed free. Alternative: pre-flush to wet the porcelain surfaces and that usually solves the problem, but it does use more water. Now to make an obvious but important point: if your power goes out the macerator pump won’t empty the toilet. One final note. We have a rural home with a septic tank and leach field. The honest folks at Silent Venus frankly answered “Yes” to my concern about the possibility of macerated waste more easily passing through the septic tank and entering the leach field. Our use of the Silent Venus is only occasional. If you have a septic tank and anticipate frequent use, I suggest you consult with a waste professional to be sure you don’t jeopardize your expensive leach field. ... show more

It’s a nice looking toilet, though the lid and seat are a little bit jankey being cheap thin plastic. But hey, it’s a toilet. It was kind of easy to install. I did have a little difficulty with a leak but I eventually worked through it no thanks to their customer service. It’s a little loud but I think I’ve gotten used to it. I also don’t put solids down it as I installed this in a cabin that was next door to a public bath house. Everything I flush down this goes into a tank that I have to pump out every other month. So far, with limited use (I’m only at my cabin on the weekends) it has performed to my expectations. ... show more

I have had this product for almost a year now and had an issue with a part breaking, (Don't think twice about buying the product because of this as it may very well have been my own fault but they don't care if it is or isn't your fault). The company resolved the issue as quickly as they could and when there was a speedbump that cost me a little extra time and money they went above and beyond to make it up to me. All in all I love the product which makes installing a toilet just about anywhere possible without all the breaking of concrete etc and I learned the company truly cares about their customers satisfaction, which is very important to me. This product was maybe not design properly.. It has a few issues overall it basically works If you are only going to use it for urination. You know what the alternative is and it doesn't work for that purpose. It's like purchasing a 1/2 a toilet or just a urinal. I spent lots of time with Tech Support don't get me wrong they will attempt to help you however they basically gave up on their own product because they didn't have enough knowledge about their own products.. They had to go back to engineering as they are I guess creating a new product that will work fully. So they basically left me hanging with a toilet that is marginally usable. No offer of compensation, the only thing I actually got out of this was they'll let me know when the new one is available as if I'm going to purchase a second one of these. This is not the most expensive upflush toilet however for the price they charge it should at least do what it's supposed to do. Highly recommend you buy something else. ... show more

    • Noisy, but works for basement. Shower, toilet and sink all into one unit.
Seems to work well. Only downside is the noise when the pump activates. You get about a 1-2 second long burst with each flush. If you have a shower hooked up as well it will keep pumping every few seconds as the shower drain is being pumped out as long as you use the shower. Same with a sink, but slower. Again, it’s a bit noisy, but it works well with a shower, toilet and sink in a basement bathroom with no pre existing drain. Of course toilet needs to have a rear drain, not floor. And this pump unit will need an outlet near by. ... show more

I purchased the Silent Venus for a basement bathroom. After only 4 months of light use (1 person), it stopped working. The plumber said the pump was simply defective. The company sent a replacement pump, and they were easy to work with, but I was out $600.00 more in addition to paying for the commode and the installation 4 months prior. Also, the company sent a bigger replacement pump, which required bigger and additional holes to be cut out in the drywall. Now, it's on to pay for drywall work, as well. I seriously wish I had researched and shopped around. I would have gladly paid more for something better to avoid all this frustration. ... show more

It does function as it should, but was not the one described. Silent Venus has reached out to me to make it right. If you receive the one advertised, ie. plain bowl that locks down to the floor with tabs under, you may have a different experience than I. This is a great value for your money. I bought this to replace an overpriced one that has been having issues for about a year, and after several attempts to repair it, a replacement seemed like the way to go. I had it professionally installed but they didn't seem to have too much trouble even though the inlets weren't the same size. We are using it in a full bath with a toilet, sink, and shower. Ours did not come with a manual or instructions, but that was quickly solved by Google. We've only had it a few weeks but it immediately solved our issues we were having. I'd say it is about as loud as our old one but doesn't run as long or often, I'm assuming it is because it is more efficient. Save yourself some money and go with the Silent Venus. ... show more
