Santa used this super easy kit to turn our PS5 gold. Kids at school do not believe my poor 7 year old—but he is still over the moon. It made Christmas morning so fun as that’s all he wanted for Xmas. Snaps right onto the disc version console, similarly to the stock white PS5 plastic plates, so the install could not be easier. There was a small dent in the center, however. The dent appears to have been there from the manufacturing process, not caused by shipping. The plates are plastic, not metal, and plastic doesn't dent. It's not that big of a deal, not very noticeable unless you look for it. Seems a lot of other reviews mention dents as an issue with these face plates. Aside from the dent, these aftermarket face plates look a lot sharper than the dull white OEM PS5 plates. The vents are a bonus, allowing for better airflow and cooling through the console. The shiny finish makes it appear as though the PS5 is made of metal. Not sure how these face plates would improve shock absorption, there's no silicone padding or anything adding a layer of shock absorption. Perhaps the ABS plastic is more durable than the OEM plates, but I wouldn't recommend dropping the console onto a tile or concrete floor to test this theory. A worthwhile upgrade for the venting alone.
