  • Outstanding Depth of Field
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
I've been using the Sigma 18-35mm for cinematography and photography for a while now due to its excellent performance, but I wanted the ability to reach out farther. This lens fits the bill nicely, getting up close while retaining that gorgeous bokeh that I've come to expect from Sigma's line of art lenses. Something to keep in mind is that this thing is heavy and bulky, but you can't expect a lens with this much glass to be anything light. It's sturdy professional gear and worth every penny. That being said, you'll definitely want to keep that in mind if you've got a tripod that has a lower end weight rating, but it's definitely worth upgrading your kit if you already have the money to spend on this type of lens. ... show more

  • Outstanding lens - It has specific purposes
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
This lens is heavy - built like a tank. The filter size is 82MM. Works great on my Canon 90D - all lens information is retained in the metadata for use in Adobe LightRoom, Premiere or Photoshop. I strongly recommend you purchase the Sigma USB dock for Canon (or whatever brand you use i.e. Nikon, Sigma, Canon...) It will allow you to calibrate and fine tune the lens for your purposes. If you care, this lens is actually made in Japan and not China. The lens auto focus is quick and silent. The mount ring is necessary for a tripod or whatever your intentions are. This lens works extremely well for video - but due to its minimum focus length you cannot be too close otherwise it will blur. So the best bet in my amateur opinion is to have it record video at a set distance, for that it seems to work well. I will take some test images and post when I've got the time. Enjoy. ... show more

  • Don't miss out!!
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
I don't usually take time out of my day to write reviews about products but this lens is worth the time. This lens is incredible but it is also heavy (about 3.5lbs). I'm a fairly strong person and I struggle with keeping the lens and camera still when taking photos when bent over/on my knees etc. I highly recommend buying a monopod for this lens; it even has its own mount on the lens. Other than its weight, I have nothing to complain about. This lens feels very sturdy and has smooth focus and zoom rings. It also comes with its own carrying case which is a plus. This lenses zoom and aperture capability is one of a kind. If Canon or Nikon were to make a lens just like this it would most likely cost around $5,000. The constant f/1.8 when zooming from 50-100 is unmatched (no other lens can even come close to this). The auto-focus is extremely fast and precise. The images come out very sharp with limited chromatic aberration. The bokeh (background blur) when at f/1.8 is incredible and it seems more like f/1.4 or 1.2. If you have the money and aren't completely sure if this lens is worth it, buy this lens! Note- the zoom ring is counter-clockwise which is a little weird getting used to but it's not a big deal. -with the lens hood on, this lens is about a foot long (a lot larger than most people would expect) -this lens does not work with full frame cameras, it is designed for crop sensor cameras. ... show more

  • Big and sharp. Updated
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
The lens is built well, and feels like an L lens in your hands. The focus and zoom rings are nice and big and very smooth to operate. Only have had it a day but seems very sharp with nice thin DOF. Only complaints are that it is heavy and the auto focus seems to have a hard time locking on. I say this comparing it to my 400 5.6L and the 17-55 stm kit lens. Like I said I just got it so I may need to just get used to it. Overall very nice and very sharp. Update after 6 months I like this lens, when its sharp its sharp! Id say about 75% of the time. Could be user error or lack of OS. The background blur is really nice and the zoom is great for portraits. I use it on an old 7D. ... show more

  • Sigma is doing what Canon isnt!
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
I Have a Canon T7 DSLR camera. I purchased this camera in 2022. Although this camera is fine for my skills, the lenses that Canon offers for this mount (EF-S) are of poor quality and have a limited selection. I understand Canon deliberately does this to move customers away from the crop sensor camera and into a full frame mirrorless. I could obviously purchase the Canon EF mount lenses which are of excellent quality and are fully compatible with the EF-S mount. They come at a much higher price, and I am sacrificing much of what I am paying for by mounting them on a crop sensor camera. Thankfully Sigma offers a line of lenses that are specifically designed for crop sensor cameras. Sigma “DC” lenses are for crop sensor cameras are of excellent quality… Much better quality than the EF-S lenses that Canon offers. This lens is fantastic, and the sharpness is amazing. This lens is fast at F1.8 throughout the entire focus range of 50-100mm. I’m so grateful that Sigma is doing what Canon isn’t, they are making quality lenses for crop sensor cameras. Thank you Sigma! ... show more

  • Built like a tank!!
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
The sharpest lens in my kit! I am a Canon shooter but I have been buying all Sigma glass. This Art lens is the sharpest lens by far. I absolutely love it. I can't say enough good things about it other than just buy it! I do have to knocks against it tho. The tripod collar isn't removable and gets in the way all the time and it's very difficult to mount on my tripod with a battery grip on camera. My last knock on this lens is it's weight. I don't mind heavy or large gear. Gear seems to be getting smaller and lighter and I am a big guy so I actually like the bigger cameras they are easier for me to hold. But this lens mounted on my camera and holding it for several hours during a shoot will really wear your arm out. So just be aware of it's weight when you order it. At least you know when you spend your hard earned money for this great piece of glass that it is built like a tank! ... show more

  • Stuck zoom ring
Style: For Canon Pattern: Lens Only
Just received my lens, fresh out of the box and the zoom ring will not rotate past 60mm it gets stuck while trying to zoom in and out. I’m not sure if it got damaged during shipping or if it’s a manufacturing error
