  • Love this lens!
Style: Canon Set: US Version
First, I am not a pro photographer, more like a serious hobbyist. Retired, so don't have the need or funds to shell out thousands for lenses. This lens came on time and was well packaged. Looked like original box and included both caps. Second, maybe call it ego, but I normally buy used, renewed, older quality glass that seems to hold it's value. This lens cost me about $425. Seriously pleased with the cost. I took a chance because the buyer said it had a scratch on the lens but wouldn't affect the sharpness. Thrilled. I found no flaws in my photos and I did zoom in a lot to look. The lens is a beast. Shockingly heavy for it's size. But I do mostly astro stuff on a tripod, so weight is not an issue. Also don't travel or hike far to carry equipment. Haven't done astro with it yet but on the normal few shots I have done, the colors are accurate and quite pleasing compared to others I own. Wow! Sharp. Autofocus is quick, accurate, and relatively quiet. It is a prime lens but they're my preference anyway. Can't wait to try it out on a Milky Way Pano! ... show more

  • It's SIGMA Art for landscapes or astro. Absolutely incredible.
Style: Canon Set: US Version
It's SIGMA ART.. you literally cannot go wrong. I bought this to shoot astro. It does this very well, so long as you get the focus right (manually focus ASTRO). I initially shot on a Ti3, then a 6D Mark II. Took it to AK and shot the lights. Flawless. Some online report autofocus problems, so I bought the lens dock to adjust the AF. I did not need it. Shot perfectly out of the box. LOVE sigma. It's heavy (you know this), the image quality is just as good as Canon L (better in some cases), and is cheaper. DO IT. ... show more

  • Great lens for astrophotography.
Style: Canon Set: US Version
Just for those who are interested in purchasing a wide angle prime lens for some kind of astro or nightsky photography. I bought this lens just a couple of weeks ago and used it on my Canon 6D mainly for photographing the stars. The build quality of the Sigma 24mm lens is on the superb level. Infinity focus reference is very accurate, at least true for the copy I own. AF works smoothly and quietly (not tested at night, I only use MF and liveview on stars). At max aperture, F1.4, the vignetting is obvious and still visible but acceptable at F2.8 and so is the coma of the stars in corners. But all are gone stopped to F4. Impressively sharp from the center to outer region. I compared the Sigma 24mm to its rival, Samyang or Rokinon 24mm which is said to be the best for astrophotography especially for its unparalleled control on comatic aberration and found that, frankly, the Samyang does fairly better for this purpose than Sigma but, unfortunately, at the price of losing sharpness. After all, I'd surely like to recommend this lens to anyone who is looking for a wide angle prime lens for some night photography stuff. ... show more

  • Fantastic lens!!!
Style: Canon Set: US Version
As a long time commercial photographer, I am amazed by the quality of the Sigma Art lenses. The 24 is no exception. It is very fast, quiet, and very sharp. The focus could be a touch faster, but since it is a wide angle, it doesn't impact the ability to focus quickly. I have been using it on a 5Ds (50mp Canon body) and have been very impressed with the results. It definitely seems to produce images that are superior to the Canon 24 1.4 Again, I remember the days when I would never use anything other than Canon and certainly not a Sigma... those days are gone... Sigma is making some great lenses ... show more

  • Sigma art goes wide
Style: Canon Set: US Version
Sharp Sharp Sharp I am using it on my Nikon D750 and it has been nailing every shot. The 1.4 is perfect for street photography at night. Build quality: Its built like a tank and weighs as much as a zoom lens. Vignette: yes this is a minor issue, especially if you have a UV filter on. However it can be easily corrected in LR. Distortion:Very well controlled. I haven't tried its Nikon equivalent (which costs $2K+) but at this price point i would say i am satisfied with its performance. EDIT: The lens is not sharp beyond 5 feet, i tried tweaking and calibrating it but failed.going to return it to amazon. EDIT #2: I borrowed a sigma dock and calibrated the lens, the focus is right on now. If you have severe FF or BF issues please calibrate the lens instead of returning it. ... show more

  • An excellent prime lens
Style: Canon Set: US Version
An excellent prime lens, especially for the price. I opted out of this lens though in favor of the Sigma 24-35 f2 ART series lens which is so close in quality to this prime that it only made sense to carry this one lens instead of using the 24mm and the 35mm Sigma ART lenses although both were excellent the 24-35 were their equal in real world shooting and much more convenient..... ... show more

  • 24mm of Sigma greatness!
Style: Canon Set: US Version
I’ve been a photographer for over two years and this is my 3 Sigma Art Lens I have purchased and I’m not done with Sigma. Every lens is crystal clear and performs just the way I want it too! Highly recommend if you are looking for a prime lens

  • Amazing lens after USB dock firmware update and minor calibration
Style: Canon Set: US Version
This is a fantastic lens. All of the Sigma Art series lenses have been fantastic. I now own the 24mm, 35mm, and 50 mm. I currently have the Tamron 85 1.8 that is going to get switched with the Sigma 85 1.4. That's how much I've enjoyed my others. Fair warning, though, you will need the USB Dock to update the firmware on all of these. I had MAJOR focus issues with all three prior to updating the firmware. After I updated, I only needed to make very minor in camera calibrations (+/- 3) to get these things absolutely tack sharp. These adjustments were so minor I opted to make them via my 5D IV in camera calibrations by lens instead of the USB dock. It was just easier that way. After updating the firmware these things get the focus bang on at a way higher percentage than the majority of the Canon L glass I have owned and do own (at comparable apertures). Being someone that can afford all Canon L glass if I wanted, I would still buy these over the Canon versions. The only thing that would sway me would be if I required weather sealing, and I don't. If weather sealing isn't an issue for you, and you make sure you get the USB dock to update/calibrate the lens, this thing is a no brainer. ... show more
