Top Amazon Reviews

  • Awesome lens
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
All the reviews, here at Amazon and all through the internet stated this lens was a beast, 6+ pounds. This lens is a beast. My scale said a bit over 7 pounds (with hood and cover). Plays very well with my D500. Sharp and fast. Hand held shots are a tad bit awkward. Did I mention this thing is a beast. Only about a hour out with it and I found 2 problems: It's heavy and can be difficult with hand held shots in low light. I didn't have my monopod or tripod with me so I had to rely on my arms. Holding a stance waiting for the perfect shot was, to say the least, shaky. But reducing speed and upping ISO helped a bit, as did the stabilization. @nd and most uncomfortable issue I had with this lens was (and will be) getting used to not holding it by the camera itself. I need to work on getting in the habit of carrying, holding this lens by the lens. I ended up putting the neck strap on the lens, not the camera. And while carrying 2 cameras it became a tad bit awkward trying to switch between the camera with this lens and another with a super side angle. Again, did I mention this lens is a beast of a lens. But I managed. As I get used to the actual carrying of the lens on a camera I think it will all work out. Some 50 years of photography habits I need to break. As I play with it and get used to it I will figure out it's nuances and tricks. And I will most likely utilize the USB Dock to fine tune it. As of right now I would say this is a great lens, even for a crop sensor camera. ... show more

  • Wow Just Wow!!! For Challenging Action Sports Fast Sharp AF But It’s A Beast
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
I just test drove the Sigma 150-600 Sport at my 12 year old grandson’s state championship long course swim meet. Mounted on a Nikon 750 using a monopod standing while shooting from the top of the spectator gallery(see attached photo of venue). Swimming is a challenge to shoot with the subject submersed much of time tasking the AF and tracking. Using back button AF is a must. As you can see in the pics I am posting this lens was keeping up with the action quite well with focus speed faster than my Nikon 80-400 and Nikon 70-200 2.8. Shooting with available light indoors in large venues where long FL lenses are a must I needed a lens with additional reach. Problem solved with this beast of a lens. I just ordered a D850 from Amazon and looking forward to shooting all 3 grandson’s soccer and swimming with this impressive lens, higher FPS, and improved resolution when outputting. Couldn’t be more pleased! ... show more

  • Finally Capture Quality Photos of the Outfielders!
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
Ever wonder what the butterfly the kid in the outfield is playing with looks like? Get this lens and wonder no more! Super durable, a bit on the heavy side but honestly a lens this size should be paired with a monopod or tripod.

  • I found out that this was a gray market purchase.
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
I found out that this was a Gray Market item. It was not stated that way. Because of that, Sigma refused to provide any warranty. It came in an official Sigma Box. I found out that this lens was also discontinued by Sigma. I thought I was buying a product with a viable warranty. Buyer be ware!!

  • Product fulfiller may violate warranty
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
First let me say that I love this lens! I purchased it on 8/1/2021 and for two months it worked flawlessly. However, the day before the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta started (10/2/2021), the lens autofocus failed completely. As the window to return this lens to Amazon closed on 9/2/2021, I decided to send it to Sigma USA in New York for repair. I included a copy of my Amazon invoice and as it was only two months old was pretty confident that it was under warranty. Sigma customer service was fast and courteous. While they informed me that Sigma warranties their lenses for 4 years (the warranty PDF link on the lens on Amazon indicates 2 years, but let's not go there), I was informed that the seller, 42nd Street Photo, is not an authorized retailer of Sigma lenses, and as such, I had no warranty! I was surprised that the very seller that Amazon was using, by definition, nullified the warranty. As the sellers for any product change constantly, how is one to know? Currently, Amazon is using Photo4Less as the seller. Are they an authorized Sigma retailer? Your guess is as good as mine. So long story short, the lens is at Sigma USA being fixed and I'm out $300. I have purchased a sizable amount of camera equipment from Amazon in the past. I wonder how many of those purchases are not covered by a warranty? ... show more

  • Sharp lens. It weighs a ton (older model)
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
Well built (metal exterior), sharp lens at 600mm. Some reviews said auto-focus is noisy. mine is not. This is a heavy lens, more than 6 lbs. Do not put it on a weak tripod. Hand holding possible but difficult. Found out the manual focus ring works even when in auto-focus, which is a good thing, I think. Comes with a cuboid carry cased with strap, but It fits better (with Nikon D7500 attached) in my Victorinox backpack in 150mm mode. Of course not much else fits in backpack after that. ... show more

  • Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM ( S ) Lens...
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
Delivered in a box within a box within another box. Well packed for safely. The lens is amazing. The programing felt a bit intimidating but got through it with some guess work as to what might work and after 3 attempts, got the setting so that the pictures are tack sharp. I use it on my Nikon D810. It's heavy and I will have to get used to it and bought a monopod with a swivel head to help keep it steady which works quite well. I'm very happy this this lens. I hated the cloth lens cap and ordered a plastic Sigma 105mm lens cap which makes a difference of convenience for me. This is a monster lens. For the money, you can't beat it. You would need to purchase a lens that runs $8000 to beat it. Great for serious photographers who don't have that kind of money. I've added a photo shot at 600mm as there have been questions about it's sharpness. You can see that this is tack sharp even though this was shot in very low light (f/6 at 1000 ISO) ... show more

  • 3-Month Review
Style: Nikon SLR Mount Set: US Version
I have previously used the Sigma 50-500mm. Wanted to get just a little closer to the birds I film. The 600mm seemed to be the ticket. It has turned out to be a very good investment. The Focus is fast and precise-- doesn’t seem to wonder all over searching. The lens is heavy, and while I have shot some great pictures without a tripod, I would recommend that anyone using this lens for any length of time consider at least a monopod (my go-to-perch). About the only real issue I have had with the lens is the lens hood attach screw. The issue only shows itself when you attach or remove the hood. Attachment is very good and secure. It takes a little practice and maneuvering to remove the lens and put it on and I’ve dropped and lost (then found) the tiny nut a few times now. I’ve done a personal mod that will make this hood thing work better for me. You probably will want to do the same. Pros: Price, Focus, autofocus, feel of lens (feels solid, not cheap plastic, etc), lens lock Cons: Weight, lens-hood screw/nut. Regrets in purchasing: NONE! It’s a great lens for the price. ... show more
