Description

The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF is the world's first 1.8 prime lens at the 14mm focal length. This fast wide prime features the same large aspherical element touted in the Sigma 12-24mm F4 art to control distortion and create stunning imagery. An updated hyper sonic motor (HSM) provides fast and accurate autofocus while 3 Premium FLD and 4 sold glass elements control chromatic aberration and sagittal Comma flare. Building on the highly reputable art line, The Sigma 14mm 1.8 DG HSM Art is designed to resolve the latest high Megapixel DSLR sensors. Like Each and every global Vision lens, The Sigma 14mm 1.8 DG HSM Art is handcrafted at our single factory in aizu, Japan and undergoes individual evaluation before leaving Sigma facility. Complementing the optical performance is an equally adept hyper sonic motor, which provides fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus performance. This focusing motor also enables full-time manual focus override at any time Just by rotating the focus ring for refined manual control and focusing as close as 10.6". The lens barrel is constructed using a thermally stable composite material, which supports working in a wide variety of temperatures and conditions, and the lens mount is constructed from Brass for long-term durability and mounting accuracy. Additionally, this lens is also compatible with the optional Sigma USB dock for FINE-TUNED control over focusing parameters and other lens characteristics. With its full-frame 35mm coverage, 14mm focal length for an ultra-wide Angle of view, F2 barrier- breaking F1.8, The Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is the true high-speed ultra- wide-angle lens for which so many photographers have been waiting. Although some zoom lenses are available that can cover 14mm, the large diameter delivering F1.8 brightness is a singular advantage. Going beyond fast shutter speed, this lens can capture a swarm of fireflies with crystal clarity, a beautiful bokeh effect, and outstanding control of light

  • Great picture quality, but heavy
Style: for Canon
Great lens in terms of picture quality, but before you buy, just be aware of the weight, and the fact that it's got a curved front element, so you can't slap a standard screw-in filter in front of it

  • Excellent for astrophotography
Style: for Nikon
This has been excellent for astrophotography. F1.8 is great and reveals many more stars that I am able to see by eye. It's a bit heavy, but feels solid and well built. I take it everywhere now.

  • Beautiful lens for astro and landscapes.
Style: for Canon
I bought this lens for astrophotography and it did not disappoint. I'd used a Rokinon f/2.8 lens and the extra f-stop here makes a world of difference in the noise level. I haven't tried an A/B comparison but this thing is sharp. It's a little large, though; not quite as transportable as the Rokinon but well worth it for the extra speed. And the autofocus is quick and snappy, and of course dead-on. I've also used it for landscapes (photos attached) and found it sharp and crisp. The extra two millimeters width is nice, and noticeable when I switch from my 16-35. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Love this lens
Style: for Nikon
I am not a pro and this was my first really nice wide angle so take my opinions with a grain of salt. I have not compared it to others except a manual focus 16mm DX format I purchased for my Nikon D3400. After moving up to a Z6 body I wanted a full frame lens and this has proven to be amazing. I can't wait to get back to traveling and taking pictures with this lens. ... show more

  • This lens is very, very good, just watch the flare
Style: for Nikon
This lens is another 10/10 from Sigma. Their Art lenses have replaced much of my Nikon glass now because in my direct technical comparisons they are simply superior. The focal lengths I've tested against Nikon's best glass, and now own are 14 f1.4 / 35 f1.4 / 50 f.1.4 / 85 f.1.4

  • Wanted to Love this Lens...
Style: for Canon
I really wanted to love this lens. The wide potential was very exciting to me. Once attached to my Canon R5 I could see at once that wide angle shots would be part of my everyday photography. However...the Sigma 14mm 1.8 just COULD NOT seem to focus where I pointed the focus point. (Yes, I thought it was me. But it was the lens.) I was able to see the missed focus in the EVF as well as the computer monitor and even in print. Inches away for up close shots, and many feet of missed focus in more distant shots. Wanted to love this lens. ... show more
