  • Works Great IF you know how to use it.
Style: Nikon SLR Mount
This is great BUT you have to learn the tool. My experience with these teleconverters is via a Nikon D7500 and the Sigma 150-600c telephoto. Numerous people will trash talk the teleconverters and I myself bought the TC-1401 first and didn't like it. I didn't understand some fundamentals of photography and COVID gave me a better understanding as I got a work hiatus. I initially got poor results until a month later I gave it another try on a bright sunny day. I then spent the time and learned how to use it and more important WHEN to use it. Once I learned the device I bought the TC-2001 as well. I use both but only when appropriate. In my opinion they are both great when you are shooting the sun, the moon and wildlife on bright sunny days. Those are typically the only 3 times I use them. Of course other bright and sunny times could apply that are not wildlife like surveillance. I have actually had some success on misty overcast days but only after I learned the triangle well enough to compensate (aperture, shutter, ISO). I had a still eagle one day and he was still so long I got kind of bored on that misty day as I shot probably 100 pics of him doing nothing so I said 'what the heck' and put my TC-2001 on because I had nothing to lose. I played with the triangle until I got some wonderfully close up shots even when overcast. I probably got 800 horrid shots until I found the triangle combo that worked. For wildlife they are fine if the wildlife is still. For fast moving things like a bird in flight, so far my skill level is below par on focusing quickly. I should note that I have a injured index finger that makes focusing with my left hand while I hold the body painful unless I go really slow. I am sure some less crippled people could pull this off particularly if the bird is not flying towards or away from you. IF you use a tripod this might work, I don't know I rarely have a tripod ready where I go. FOCUS: TC-1401: With the TC-1401 I am able to focus automatically throughout the ENTIRE range. TC-2001: With the TC-2001 you lose auto-focus at about the half way mark of the lens (300'ish) and it will still try to focus after that but will not lock on. You can get close with auto focus and then switch to manual focus. TC-2001: At 150, 180, 200, 250, and 300 (lengths on side of lens) auto focus worked pretty well. 400 and up I was not able to get it to focus except manually. It would just dance in and out of focus, unable to lock. Still, with manual focus I am able to pull off shots with bright light. F-STOPS: TC-1401: (only changes listed) 150mm = F7.1-F32 200mm = F7.6-F36 300mm = F8-F36 400mm = F8.5-F40 600mm = F9-F42 TC-2001: (only changes listed) 150mm = F10-F45 200mm = F11-F51 400mm = F12-F57 600mm = F13-F57 STACKING: Either I suck at puzzles or you cannot add the 1.4 and 2.0 together. Like anything else you have to learn the tool before you trash the tool. I use both teleconverters with a crop sensor D7500 which gives me an equivalent of 1800mm. I am happy with both teleconverters. If it is cloudy on a birding day they stay in the case/bag. I shoot both mostly handheld (so usually with a really fast shutter speed 1500+ if at furthest range while hand held). I only use a tripod on moon/sun shots and even then not always with a tripod. There is a FB group dedicated to the Sigma 150-600c which constantly posts pictures with and without both teleconveters. ... show more

  • Great addition for my lens
Style: Canon SLR Mount
I got this to go with my Sigma 150-600mm lens and my other 2 Sigma lens for my Canon Rebel EOS T6. It is a nice addition for my wildlife photography for when my subject is just out of reach! Plus the seller also registered the product for me.

  • Good, not great.
Style: Nikon SLR Mount
Combined with a 150-600 Sigma this thing gives pretty good results in good light. Not tack sharp but useable for the average person. Forget it in flat low light situations at extended zooms. Even mounted rock steady Ive been unable to achive quality shots in those situations. Be warned...and this is my fault for not researching more...I was hoping this would fit at least a couple of my other lenses. It does not. Sigma lenses only. ... show more

  • Sharp and versatile
Style: Nikon SLR Mount
I did these with the Sigma TC 1401 on Sigma 150-600c and a Nikon D850.

  • Nice additional reach
Style: Canon SLR Mount
The TC-1401 adds some nice extra reach and produces quality photos. That's the good. The bad is it affects so many different things about your camera settings. AF is spotty sometimes nailing it and sometimes not focusing at all. Loss of the ability to track a moving subject is also a bummer. Using the TC-1401 with the Sigma 150 - 600 C I found that setting the lens to Manual Override seemed to help the AF and when it didn't an adjustment of my fingers holding the lens gave me to ability to fine tune focus, although my eyesight is not the greatest. All is all the TC-1401 iss worth having in your kit, although imho it is a bit over priced due to the adverse affects it has on the camera and lens. Still, when it hits the price seems to be almost worth it. I have to recommend this teleconverter in the end. ... show more

  • Sigma 1.4 Teleconverter
Style: Canon SLR Mount
I purchased the Sigma TC-1401 teleconverter because Canon teleconverters can not be used with Sigma lenses and Canon cameras but the Sigma TC can be used both with Sigma lenses on Canon cameras and with Canon lenses on Canon cameras. I have used a Sigma TC 1401 on my Canon lenses for years and while I have not done specific testing with patterns I have not noticed any IQ differences when using the Sigma vs Canon 1.4 teleconverters. The Sigma 1.4 is only about 80 % the height of the Canon TC so it fits better I pockets. I avoid using the Sigma teleconverter on F 5.6 lenses because the focal zones available at f8 are limited compared to all zones being available when using the Canon TC on cameras that can use all zones at F8. I can't say I have noticed a difference in focusing speeds with the Sigma vs Canon but have to assume there is a difference considering the Canon 1.4 TC III was designed for improved focusing speed. The previous generation Sigma teleconverter can not be used with Canon lenses according to reviewers. I believe "pro style" Canon bodies must be used that are 7d II or newer to allow autofocus at F8 . Consult your Canon body manual. ... show more

  • Works well with some Nikons, not with others.
Style: Nikon SLR Mount
I bought this to use originally with my Nikon D7500/Sigma 150-600mm. Pictures were sharp and I loved the added reach. Only problem I had was it was slow to focus. I've had this for a little over 18 months and with practice, had improved on the focus issue. There was still a delay but it wasn't as much. I recently purchased a Nikon D500 and tried the teleconverter with that camera. I had to remove it-I CONSTANTLY lost the ability to autofocus. I switched it back to the 7500 and works like a charm. It's supposed to be compatible with the D500 but you do not have all functions. ... show more

  • Sigma 1.4x Teleconverter TC-1401 for Nikon
Style: Nikon SLR Mount
I am using this on my Sigma 150 - 600 Lens. Focusing is a little slow, but overall works great. Quality of the picture is good. I would recommend this Teleconverter.
