Description

Black Stayfast Canvas with Heated Glass Window. This convertible Top is an excellent factory style glass window replacement for the 2006-2015 Mazda MX-5. It is the original factory one-piece design with listing panel and no deck seams. It includes pre-punched plastic retainers to ease installation. This convertible top is the Miata original factory one piece design with listing panel. The rain guard is sewn along the sides of the top. Includes a new tinted DOT approved glass window with embedded defroster wiring. The window is bonded to the convertible top using an advanced window bonding system that is guaranteed to not fail for 5-years. There is no piping or stitching around the window visible and no unsightly heat-seal press marks. This top is made from Haartz Stayfast Canvas, which was an original material beginning in 2003. Although it is not an original material as prior models, it makes an excellent upgrade from Vinyl because of its richer look, silkier feel and improved durability.

  • Great looking top!
Just got done installing yesterday, looks great and I'm very happy with the result. The cloth is nice and soft, and in my honest opinion, looks much better than vinyl. It's a bit tight right now, but that's to be expected. Probably not nearly as bad as a new vinyl top would be in this cold weather. Installation wasn't too difficult, there are guides out there and it seems like it's easier than older generations. One thing I wasn't happy about, but didn't detract from the product really, was that there were a lot of holes stamped out of plastic trim but not stamped out of the fabric right behind it. Having to make those holes myself just added a bit of extra assembly time. Also, the holes in the plastic where it screws in to the very front of the frame didn't perfectly line up, and it was difficult to get that screwed down with the rail on top of it. Otherwise, installation was a breeze, and all the rest of the holes lined up perfectly. I used this rivet gun: TEKTON 6555 Rivet Gun with 40-pc. Rivets , and bought some extra rivets at my local auto parts store. You will need lots of 5/32" rivets (I think around 25 total), especially if you're riveting the rain rail back on. The rain rail and tension cable will need slightly longer rivets than everything else. Drill out the old rivets with an 11/64" bit. If you're doing this yourself, good luck! EDIT 6/4/2019: After a few years, this top is still holding up great! I know some people online say to apply stuff to keep the sun from damaging the top, but I haven't done any of that and it's held up perfectly fine through a few Texas summers already. Unfortunately some of the adhesive that holds some strips (not sure what for) on the inside of the top did start peeling back, but that was easily fixed with some 3M 08008 weatherstrip gasket adhesive. I also elected to remove the bits that pull and tuck away the top when it's down as well, don't care either way and it should help the top last longer from not having to crease or be pulled at that spot. ... show more

  • Meh, it works, but didn't have all of the holes needed to install
I wouldn't buy this one again. It's fine quality and all, but some holes were not punched and I had to use a handheld hole-punch to make holes where needed in multiple cases. No instructions, either, which may have been helpful when it came time for those missing holes. At least it looks good installed and we've had no problems with it. But spend the extra money on a different one with all the holes where they should be. ... show more

  • Looks Great. I paid installer to put on though...
Looks Great. Good quality product. I paid installer to put this Top on. I chose "Pollet's Automotive" in Fairfax Va. They did a very nice job! The Install was a bit pricey but I'm pleased. *The Sierra Top offers no install instructions; one a list of recommended installers. I was told not to try install yourself due to difficulty with a lot of small pieces and parts, including seats need to be removed so I just paid to get it done. Here's a couple pics (attached) ... show more

  • 3 years later - the window slid off
My husband said it was difficult to install, but it was his first time. It looked beautiful when he was done. Cost us $474 exactly three years ago and the window melted off recently. We wish there was some kind of warranty. My advice is to keep the car in a garage or use a car cover. It gets pretty hot where I live and so I can't say for sure that the car cover would have helped keep the glass window from falling. ... show more

  • Great top. Hardware is lacking
I am trying so hard to get this top installed. The top material seems great. Everything seems well made. The problem is the bag or hardware that came with it. Stupid simple things like there were only four washers, it needed 4 zip ties, it came with two, it has a big pile of rivets (great), but none are long enough for the sandwich of materials to mount the tension bracket. To do it right, you need either 4mm or 5/32 rivets. Neither are available at any of the local home places. So my weekend is shot waiting for Amazon to deliver 4 rivets. Did I mention that there are zero instructions? If you are doing this yourself, do yourself a favor and don't disassemble both sides of the top, particularly for the tension cable. You'll need a roadmap. Update: The top has started fraying around the window on both sides. Sierra is not responding to requests for help for over 2 weeks. Downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star. Update 2: Fraying has not stopped, but it is manageable. I made multiple additional requests for help and got nothing. Too bad. The top material is great and other than fraying, I have no quality complaints. Support? That is another thing entirely. They have none. That means any warranty is essentially useless. ... show more

  • Great quality top
This is a great value. All of the holes were pre-punched and I did not experience any of the issues some others have mentioned with that. It is a very involved install but I rated it 5 stars for ease because the top itself, did not give me any problems. The material is high quality and I am very pleased with it. I have not has a chance to test the defroster but the top has withstood some rain already with no leaks. ... show more

  • The top is too small. Does not fit the MX5 grand touring
Had the top installed but its not big enough to seal around the windows. Rain and wind come in around the driver side window at the back of the glass. Ordered the first one, and it fitted perfect. This top was probably for the regular mazda
