As suggested by another reviewer, as soon as I received the pillow I took off the patterned cover and played the pillow under the ceiling fan on the bed to air, turning it over a few hours later. At bedtime I put the patterned cover back on. The pillow I used before was a lot flatter all over so I had to adjust to the hight the first night. I did not remove any filling yet. I did find that by pulling the tip of the curve behind me, it adjusted and offered more support to the back of my neck and my back; by pulling the tip of the curve in front it adjusted the support for my cheek and face. And after pulling both tips a few times my head felt more 'cradled' and the height was a lot more comfortable. I will keep it like this and will not change the amount of filling. I love the feel of the patterned cover against my skin. I wish they would offer the patterned covers in more colors to change from time to time. I bought a cooling silky cover but have not added or needed it yet. And the covers they sell separately are regular bed linens material, not the patterned material. All over I am very pleased.

This pillow system is the best! I love the customization, support and softness. I decided write a review after almost a year of constant and exclusive use to give a honest feedback. I never had an issue with neck pain, which is a first for me. I held on the my favorite old pillow just in case and found I didn't need it after the first week. I have since thrown it away after about 5 faithful years of solid wash/dry/use. I usually have to acclimate to a traditional, store bought pillow ($10-60 ones that claim they are for back/ side sleepers ) and the pain usually starts after the first night, crescendos over 7 days and then subsides over another week. Never happened with pillow. I let the base and extra filling air out for 72 hours after opening, which I highly recommend. Not tossing in the dryer, which is an option, but I can't see how that will get you the best value for the investment of your most treasured rest to shortcut the process. Just be patient and let it acclimate to the room it will spend the most time in, similar to wood flooring in your home. Because I chose the slower method, I still never have smelled any chemicals or off putting odors. I intially used the pillow as it was originally packaged in order to get a sense of the support for the first 21 days. I determined at that point, I wanted to see what adding the extra filling would be like. Not because I had neck pain, but because I notice I tend to squish the filling to whatever side I am on for the longest amount of time. GAME CHANGER! I have long term support and comfort that bounces back after constant use and learned bunching (I am trying to not bunch under my neck for support. Know that will take time because it is a learned behavior from bad support from other 'back/side sleeper' pillows that don't live up to stated claims). The zipper on the case is durable, even when I noticed I was pushing the filling to one side, it held up. It was never so bulky that your natural sleep patterns won't adjust to and even out. I went through the intial summer heat and the 'second' NYC summer without feeling like my head was cooking. I would not say this particular pillow system offers any direct cooling effect that you will noticeably feel. I would say that, the hottest summer days, with a satin pillowcase, it wasn't as bad as I have had in the past. 80-90 degree heat and heavy humidity, I didn't wake up constantly with my head in a pool of sweat. It is not a "cooling effect" so much as, you don't sweat at all, in an humidity or temperature. It's more like, a reasonable person shouldn't find fault or sweat as much with a box or shop fan. The context of like for like, not a dedicated AC or Temp/Climate control system throughout an entire house is not equivalent. Please, leave room for bias. Especially, in these reviews. I am in an apartment, and treated myself/experimented with this pillow. I love it and will recommend/gift it to anyone I can! Happy resting!

I’ve been using this pillow for a few months now and it’s better than your average pillow. I work nights and my husband works days. So he uses it sometimes. We’ve noticed that it helps with having no neck problems when waking up. When we are over tired after long shifts we fall asleep right away when using it vs the standard pillows. I’m a side sleeper mostly and he sleeps side and back sometimes. I’m glad we found a pillow that works for both of us. Safe to say I’m getting him his own cause when our sleep over laps sometimes, I don’t want to have to fight over my pillow lol.

I ordered these based on all the five star reviews. I really like these pillows but am not in love with them. There are two pillows in this set and they are not mini-pillows to me. There is also a package of cut up foam in case I want to put more of this foam in the pillow. In addition, there is a cloth backpack (see photo). These pillows are soft and comfortable to use. I love the crescent design. However, they are made of cut up foam. Had I known that, I might not have ordered them. I hate cut up foam. They also have a smell to them that I hope will go away over time. I am glad, however, that these are not mini in size. I consider them medium-sized pillows. The outer shell is a zippered pillowcase and then there is an interior white zippered cover holding the foam together. The extra foam can be added here. I waited until there was a discount on these before purchasing so the current price at the time I ordered was $37.49 plus tax (instead of $49.99 plus tax). For that price I think these are competitively priced. To me these are 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. If this were solid memory foam and did not smell, then I would have rated them 5 stars.

Pillow is large enough to hug and still hold my head. It’s made very well and soft. The adjustability is a great bonus as well. Original pillow case is soft and breathable. After following the instructions provided the pillow fluffed up nicely and the weird smell completely went away. Highly recommend you follow those! Downside is that it took forever to ship.

I’ve been sleeping on this pillow for a couple months now, so I can write an honest review. I was looking for a firm pillow, but not so firm that my head wouldn’t sink in. I used the extra filler and it really made a difference, felt better. I like that it has give, not enough that you feel suffocated. The neat thing about this pillow is you can flip it around to the flat side and it’s like a regular pillow. I wasn’t a fan of the contour part, but I flipped it to the flat side.
