This Sidi MAG-1 is the boot for me! I hate zippers, and I definitely don’t want a boot that has an inner bootie that I have to put on first. Nope, these MAG-1’s are easy to put on quickly (helpful at the track when you miss that first call for your session, lol), and you can always get that perfect level of snugness (which is pretty fixed on zippered boots but can be whatever you want with these). It won’t take long for you to figure out the pattern of the Tecno-3 closure system. Each little flip-up handle on them always ends up in the same orientation when the strap is fully extended, so you’ll get quick at flipping the handles up and down with wither your index finger or thumb (also, the two lower closures stop in the same orientation, with the upper stopping in the opposite to those; hard to explain, but you’ll know what I mean when you try them). They are VERY well made. I had my first pair for over 5 years. I re-glued the soles once or twice with Renia Colle de Cologne, but that only worked because the original soles’ rubber had been pre-treated with the proper adhesion promoter at the factory, and the adhesive could still stick to it. The boot itself is still perfect, but this year it was really time for new soles. Have had trouble figuring out exactly (for certain) what type of rubber these soles are made of, so that means not knowing exactly what adhesion promoter to buy. Got tired of (and kinda ran out of time) trying to figure that out, so I bought this second pair and will have the new soles put on by a pro (rather than buying more adhesive products I’ll never use up). I’ll keep the original pair as a backup. My feet generally stay cool enough in these, but sometimes my right foot (exhaust side) will get a bit toasty in the summer, depending on the track and how much time I’m spending at high rpm’s at slower speeds. I think I’d consider the MAG-1 Air model if I were doing full races or endurance racing, but I’ve never worn those, it might not matter with the heat source there anyway, and these are awesome as-is. Some air definitely comes in through the little toe holes. My feet stay fairly dry in these, and the boots, despite years of service, do not smell bad at all. They dry out very quickly. I’d probably buy a third pair in advance of them becoming unavailable someday, but I’m probably set now for the rest of my track day “career.” ... show more
