I’ve used different kinds of fire starters as well as paper and I feel like these are the best value for what we need. I’ve used it for starting Charcoal and it’s perfect. Paper has embers has embers that fly into the air. This doesn’t. It lasts long enough to really get the fire going. I’m sure this would be great for open camp fires as well. I’ve used the starters that are wrapped in paper and they are fine but I feel like this has less chemicals and is more natural. And at about 25 cents per little bundle, it’s way cheaper than the other firestarters I’ve used. I have used 5 of them so far and have 60 more fires to go! Enjoy!

I've used this to light lump mesquite charcoal without a chimney. Yes, I know that I should be using a chimney but I keep forgetting. The fire stays lit for quite awhile and I was surprised at how easy it catches fire. Was able to light the mesquite charcoal no problem. I haven't tested it during wet weather because we are in 105+ degree summer weather but I'm confident it will still light up.
