Many reviews say that the grab bars do not stick well to 4 inch tiles. This is because the 4 inch tiles that I have are not flat and smooth, but have a wavy surface. This allows air to enter under the suction cups and they fall off. I solved the problem by applying petroleum jelly or Vaseline under the outer edges of the suction cups. The grab bars have been on my bathtub 4 inch tile wall for 2 weeks and are still firmly attached. I also learned that we should not press the grab bars really hard against the surface because it makes locking the tabs impossible. Back off on the pressure and the locking tabs are easy to push down. I ordered 2 packages, one for my main bath and one for my guest bathroom and they are working just fine. We got three sets of these when my mom was on an extended visit. One of the handles would never stick, no matter what! It would be fine for a few days then, BAM! in the middle of the night it would come crashing down in the bathroom and scare the crap out of everyone. The first time we thought someone was breaking into our house. We tried this handle everywhere, it would be totally solid for grabbing then give out for no reason. At 2:12am, 4:01am 1:33am. I threw it away before it gave Mom a heart attack or killed us all in our sleep. Pro tip: when installing, touch cups LIGHTLY to the tiles then flip the levers.     • How Much Safer My Shower Is Now!
My shower had one suction type handrail, but since 2 kneecap surgeries I felt more help was needed. Now I have 3 in my shower. Anytime we travel I can grab 1-2 of these, dry them off, and pack them, I find hotels fail to realize that handicapped bathrooms mean a shower only with ample handrails .It's too dangerous climbing in and out of a tub. These rails also have that neat hook in the middle for holding on to your washcloth or scrubbie. I know from my original handrail that it must be taken loose, checked, and cleaned about once a month to insure maximum holding power. ... show more

I have had other shower, grab bars that fell off after a few days, or wouldn’t maintain their stick at all. These were beyond easy to place, remove, and then replace to get them exactly right. They have a powerful section, and even with my applying a great amount of weight and pulling on them, they were not coming off. they have been on for a week and are still as strong as the day I placed them. As long as you can keep these suction cups off the grout lines (and the tiles stay on the wall) or you have a non-grouted wall option these handles are excellent!! A bit of liquid soap on the suction cup (not too much) but a wee bit helps to create and maintain a sound vacuum connection!

Put in shower to hold on to and after two baths one fell off the side of the shower. Put it back up and we will see how long it stays up.
