Description

Wedding photographers are under tremendous pressure to capture once-in-a- lifetime moments—from the bride’s preparations, to the ceremony, to the reception and the exit. They are forced to shoot in low light in every wedding—whether in poorly lit ceremony and reception venues or, later in the day, when the peak lighting has faded. This presents myriad problems and obstacles to achieving beautiful, artfully executed images of the events of the wedding day. In this book, popular photoeducator Brett Florens and contributors provide digital photo techniques and lighting solutions—from reflectors, to LED lights, to flash—that will help you ensure that no important image is lost to poor light or exposure concerns. From choosing and using the best camera settings to scouting locations with interesting, workable light, to creating gorgeous artistic effects, this book provides the skills you need to get THE shot at every stage of the wedding and in any locale. • Reading Florens book on educating yourself to shoot in the dark and manipulate the light is such a great advantage in the biz.
Format: Paperback
I am still reading this book. Photography for me is a constant learning experience. The Shot in the Dark-Low-Light Techniques by Brett Florens seems to be an excellent text on the subject of lighting in photography. Light and photography is the main subject within photography that i feel you just can never get enough education on. It is constantly changing and within the industry different lighting is one of the key reasons that one person can evolve more than another if they have the vision to move ahead. Reading books like Brett Florens is one such book on educating yourself to shoot in the dark and manipulate the light to the advantage of how to make your photographs look the very best. I hope to finish the book tonight, but for as much as I have read, I highly recommend this book to others that want to stay on top of their photography game. Best wishes to everyone and thanks for this book. I have really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to other photographers. Thanks, Margaret ... show more

  • Another fantastic educational and inspirational book by Brett Florens
Format: Paperback
I have been lucky enough to have attended one of Brett's 2 day wedding workshops (some of the images are included in this book) and what I really like about his teaching style is that Brett keeps it simple. This is another great educational and inspirational book from a photographer at the top of his game. I am not a technical photographer but I can easily follow the contents and advice in this book as I feel it is aimed at all photographers at every level. I have improved my photography in numerous areas thanks to Brett, both from his direct tuition and from his books. If you are wanting to improve your techniques and produce incredible images then I can highly recommend this and other books by Brett Florens. ... show more

Format: Paperback
I was hoping for more insight/ideas on actual equipment being used for specific low light shooting from this book.....not just your average list of camera settings with "pretty pictures". If that is what you are looking for, this book is NOT going to fulfill your needs.

  • Really worth your woth you time
Format: Paperback
Brett is a good photographic educator. I picked up several tips from this book, the use of baby powder to add drama in low light shooting and how to start working with LED lights. Also I got some idea on how to better use my 85mm

  • Just Do it.
Format: Kindle
This book is fantastic. I recently ordered a new camera and a couple of video lights and wanted to experiment with low light photography for weddings and engagement shoots. This book walks you through so many examples of shots Brett has done. Just the technical aspect that shows the photo and the settings would have been enough for the price. They are like a recipe book for photographers to get started with. But his running commentary, the why, and tips to achieve similar results and when to use specific techniques is top notch. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. You won't be disappointed. ... show more
