  • Great addition to the shop
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
Love this little guy. I went through it for build and calibrating and found it for quality. Easy to set up and built solid enough for my birch and hard maple requirements. I purchased this at a price point being cheaper than retail and "used". It came within a week to my door in the original box having been opened (the original box was in a padded Amazon box). The unit had been used what appeared to be once but all in all excellent condition having taken it down myself for inspection. I do this like a lot of you guys do just to see what these things are made of and how they operate. This unit uses the four sided small flat razor sharp blades situated in a pattern to accommodate a helical cutting effect. I need a joiner to produce the smoothest cuts possible and this gem does the trick. I mounted it on a DeWalt portable stand from hell and couldn't be more pleased. ... show more

  • perfect out of the box
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
I've been debating about which jointer to buy for a while and landed on this one. I build mostly small things (cutting boards, lazy Susan's, guitar stands), so the 6 inch width and shorter tables were enough for me. This came out of the box practically ready to use. The adjustments from the factory are perfect and I was using it in no time. This tool instantly made my woodworking better and more accurate. ... show more

  • Instruction manual leaves out key step
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
It instructs you to line up the outfeed table with the body of the cutter head. Which is OK to get things square to the out feed table. But if that's all you do you will get snipe at the end of each run . . . guaranteed. The missing step is to line the surface of the outfeed table exactly to the height of the cutterhead inserts that do the cutting. If the insert cutting edge is above the outfeed table you will always get snipe. In the trouble shooting section it does mention that if you get snipe - "1. Align outfeed table with cutterhead inserts at top dead center (Page 33)." The other problem with adjusting the height of the outfeed and infeed tables is that when have removed the insert screws and use the screwdriver to move the tables up or down you can get it perfectly aligned. But when you screw down the insert screws and tighten them up it lowers the table by between 1/32 and 1/64 of an inch. So you have to redo the process several times to get it right. ... show more

  • Perfect For Me!
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
I don't know a lot about jointers. This is my first one, so this review will be short. I put a machined straight edge (from Woodpeckers) across the tables and they were perfectly flat out of the box. It was easy to assemble, and easy to connect to dust collection. I bought it to put perfect edges on boards I want to glue together to make a panel, something I had been doing on a table saw. I just used it for the first and got exactly what I wanted. The edges of the 5 boards I ran on the machine are perfect, it only took minutes, I didn't have to bust out the table saw, and it didn't make a complete mess of the shop. Making panels just got a WHOLE lot easier in my shop. 5 stars if it were manufactured in the USA. ... show more

  • Manual sucks, but it cuts wood
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
Definitely not the simplest tool to setup - it took several tries to parallel the infeed and outfeed tables. The manual isn't very clear on the procedure and tech support is outright useless - the important point the manual fails to make is you want the outfeed table at the *lowest* parallel plane to the cutterhead, if you make it parallel in a higher position you won't be able to match the outfeed table without increasing the cut depth above zero. The pictures in the manual are too small to be helpful. Note the fence isn't easy to setup either - the locking mechanism can push it out of alignment, so double check it's flush to the outfeed before attempting to square it. Once all that is done... it seems to work quite well! The cuts are quite clean - comparable to the feel of sharp hand plane. I was able to face joint and edge joint 8' long boards with some practice, although a dedicated floor stand unit is probably appropriate if you do long jointing frequently. You need some kind of dust collection for this to work well - I wouldn't want to use a shop-vac for anything more than a board or two. The manual isn't clear regarding the mounting hardware - it indicates 3/8" hardware, but the holes in the base are 3/8" wide - so you actually need something closer to 1/2" screws. I'd wouldn't recommend using it without some kind of attached base, otherwise it's prone to tipping in operation. ... show more

  • I think it's pretty good
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
First time buying one and I'm really impressed with it. I'm not a professional or anything, but like wood working in my spare time. This tool has taken that hobby to the next level! My boards are awesomely smoothe after passing and it's so sexy. This is gonna make jointing boards so easy.

  • Accurate
Style: 6" Benchtop Jointer
The assembly was easy as long as you don’t try to use the useless instructions. Just looking at the picture of the assembled item was more useful. Not as well built as some other machines that I was considering but as long as I don’t abuse it I think that it will last. The other ones that I was considering cost two to three times as much. If I was buying it for commercial use I probably would have got a more expensive one but for a DIY tool this is a good alternative. This one has a carbide cutter head and some of the more expensive ones don’t. This was the reason why I picked this one. I was impressed by how it cut square and straight right out of the box. Being a machinist for 42 years has made me a perfectionist. I have gauges that reads in increments of .0001”. I was prepared to spend as much time as it took to calibrate it but I didn’t have to! ... show more
