This is a three fold review. The machine - 5 Stars, Amazon - 2 Stars and thirdly the Shipping - 1 Star. First off, I bought two of these at the same time at an awesome price of [...] delivered. I think it was an Amazon typo or [...] as the price jumped to [...] the next morning. Like many other people, it would be nice to buy American but it's not going to happen at these price levels. Since Grizzly, Shop Fox, General , etc, etc, etc are all the same Taiwanese knock-offs, the differences are far, few and slight. When I need parts for anything like this, I just go to Grizzly and get what is needed. The shaper is actually very impressive. I thought it was going to be lighter duty than it actually is. The cast iron top is perfectly flat, the cabinet sturdy, spindle properly leveled, the fence is spot on and easy to use plus I like the integrated dust collector. Setting up the machine was very easy but the guide is a little backwards. Read the whole thing first, then perform your set up. Once it was all together, I mounted a 24" straight edge in the spindle to set it level. It was perfectly set within a few thousands from one side of the table to the other and front to back. I was amazed. Each machine has plenty of power to do the job it is made for and everything seems to stay in place as it's working. I like the electrical switches, the fence (although a little short in height - no real issue though), etc... Buy this machine. I would have been happy buying both for $1060.00 each as shown now 03/11. Without a doubt, they are worth the money. The machines receive 5 stars. Now for the shipping company. Amazon used ABF Freight to bring the shapers to my facility and were shipped 2 days after the purchase. The total trip from PA to WV is approximately 150 miles but I didn't get my machines for 18 days. Once the machines reached the local terminal on day three, everything fell apart. The driver refused to drive his truck down our road because his NEIGHBOR told him our facility was located on a bad road, which is most certainly not tractor trailer friendly. I actually talked to the driver and he told me this. Keep in mind, we have UPS Freight in here all the time plus we have long haul 52 foot trailers being pulled by 252" tractors with HUGE sleeper cabs deliver lumber. This too was explained to the driver and he stood his ground. NOW, ABF dispatchers listed my freight as Out for Delivery one day and then listed the freight as Damaged the next, then listed as Customer Refused Delivery the next. They kept telling me they were working it out but nothing ever happened. In other words, lies and lots of them. Amazon's chosen freight company receives 1 star. My business will NEVER use ABF Freight in the future. Now for Amazon. I called Amazon's customer service after 10 days and was bounced around over the freight delivery issue. I finally got some guy in Washington state that kept putting me on hold and then finally told me he needed a few hours to work this out. Later he sends an email (which cannot be replied to) further noting he needed another day and would call me the following day with more information. I never heard from Amazon again, not even an email. Amazon earned 2 star on this purchase as they honored the ultra low price, shipped immediately but dropped the ball on resolving the issue and their Customer Service practices. I finally called ABF Freight and had them deliver the machines to UPS Freight, whom dropped them off a day later and did so at no charge to my business. Overall, the machines are awesome - buy them, Amazon fell short and the freight company is horrible. Hence, an overall 2 star rating. Enjoy your new machines!!! Update: April/May 2014 This is a machine update. The other issues will stand as neither organization have tried to address their poor performance. These two machines were promptly set up in my business and are used several times each and every week. They never run longer than an hour at a time but have been used to build 10's of thousands worth of product. As of this date, we have had ZERO issues with either machine. We have NOT needed to readjust anything. Turn them on, do the job, walk away until the next time. We haven't even changed a belt. NOTHING!!! Both of these machines are used strictly for cutting tongue (one machine) and grove (the other) and that is nearly all they do. Occasionally, I knock them down and set them up for other projects like cabinet doors, flooring, etc... They are easy to make changes with their HUGE access panel from the rear and no time is wasted jerking around. I have yet to find an application in which they were underpowered. I would buy these machines without issue once again...... and would even be glad to put up with the poor service of the trucking company and Amazon if needed. These are excellent machines!!!

I just unpacked everything and it looks ok. There were dents in front and back where a forklift driver was clumsy. The manufacturer would not help but pointed me to amazon. I reluctantly contact amazon and I was shocked at how awesome I was treated and they compensated me for the damage. I thought it was dumb to send it back since it works and I can live with the dent as long as I was compensated for the damage. Sure enough I am SO GLAD I purchased through amazon. I am just so surprised at how well I was treated by amazon, that I feel obligated to post. I will definitely buy more equipment through amazon, because of this. The other thing is there is a half-dollar sized touch up paint I just noticed on the front of the unit that is an off color and poorly done. Inside the box, the cabinet was not wiped down and had smeers and fingerprints all over it. The setup is considerable and you will have very little to no assistance whatsoever from the the manual. Overall, I imagine the motor is good and it will ultimately work well, but this company is NOT high quality. I bought the Shop fox heavy duty stand to go with this shaper and sure enough...it will work once complete and it is heavy duty enough but the "shop fox" stickers on the side are crooked at about a 25-30 degree angle and its a ton of work to put together. Having just put together a DeWalt table for the dewalt planer, which was such a joy, this is just a stark contrast of half-assed, not very thoughtful design by Grizzly/Shopfox or whoever they are now. So if you like the price, its great but dont expect a beautiful machine to show up ready to go. And expect to spend a day figure out how to get it all together.

As a "medium sized shop" architectural woodworker and historical restoration specialist this machine works flawlessly for the window sash and door reproduction part of my work. The dust collection in the fence unit works very well. All in all very pleased with the performance.

Although the differences in the Shop Fox and the Grizzly (G1026) are minimal the "upgrade" to the Shop Fox is probably worth the difference ($70 at the Grizzly Showroom). The Shop Fox fence and integrated dust collection port are superior to the Grizzly. The Shop Fox is all cast iron and is moveable with the turn of a knob. The Grizzly is welded steel and cast iron w/o the knob for the large fence moves. You also have to purchase separately the dust collection hood for the Grizzly. The miter slot on the Shop Fox is a T-slot, whereas on the Grizzly it is a straight-sided slot.
