Description

Shop Fox Heavy Duty Mobile Bases are designed to give you a stable and mobile platform upon which to mount machinery and equipment having a variety of base sizes and weights. The heavy-duty casters are arranged on outriggers allowing the machine to sit as low as possible and yet be extremely stable. Swivel casters on two corners provide excellent maneuverability. The bolt pattern on the fixed caster side allows orientation of the wheels in either of two directions. The base can be assembled in any of eight configurations providing maximum flexibility of use. The unique two piece retractable feet use rare earth magnets to allow the knob to turn while the foot pad is tight to the floor. You will find these mobile bases to be far superior to any mobile base on the market in strength, adjustability and movability. This patented mobile base is the most stable on the market with outrigger type supports. Adjusts from 20 x 20-inch to 29-1/2 x 29-1/2-inch. 700 lb. Capacity. Weighs 47 lbs.

  • Supports a 14” Shop Fox Band saw
Size: 19" x 20-1/2" to 29-1/2" x 29-1/2" Style: Base
Liked the stability and mobility. Screws should be shorter to allow the band saw door to open, but easily replaced with shorter ones on one corner. Doesn’t glide as easily as expected with heavy band saw, but works well enough. Would like to see all 4 wheels rotating instead of just 2.

  • Excellent Value for Heavy Duty Mobile Base
Size: 19" x 20-1/2" to 29-1/2" x 29-1/2" Style: Base
Just purchased along with the accessory extension kit for use on a 600lb 1995 Powermatic 66. Pro's: - Certainly is very heavy duty. Didn't even flinch, let alone deflect when my 600lb saw was loaded onto it. - Sizing of base within the spec'd range is infinitely adjustable, as opposed to many other models which have pre-drilled holes in increments that aren't always ideal for the specific tool/application. - Very low-profile and does not significantly raise the height of your machines deck after installation. - After replacing the manufacturer supplied pair of fixed casters with swivels, maneuverability is excellent. (also see Con below). - Caster locations for my particular machine setup do not stick out towards the operator and or pose any real tripping hazard as with many other models. - Finish is very industrial looking and understated. No shiny or obnoxious neon colored parts. Cons: - Assembly required is Total. Meaning that you get a big box of parts, and a very large bag of mixed bolts and washers. Predictably the instructions are cryptic at best and could be frustrating to anyone who isn't highly experienced with this sort of thing. Total number of Bolt-sets requiring assembly and installation for both this base and the extension combined is over 50.... (including casters, frame assemblies, etc) Be prepared to spend at least 1-2hrs assembling and dialing sizing this unit for your particular setup. - Fixed Pair of Casters that are supplied with this unit render it only capable of manuevering your machine in one direction only without having to push/pull/drag the unit (which kind of defeats the purpose of having it, imho). Immediately Replace them with another pair of swivel casters matching the factory pair, and it handles like a dream in all directions with very little effort involved, even with a 600lb machine. - You really have to pay attention when locking the frame members together because it is infinitely adjustable and relies on the bolts pinching the frame together instead of thru-bolting it. Too much and you can damage the frame members or cam-out the threads on the bolts, too little and you have a loose and sloppy assembly. Took me a few before finding the sweet spot. - The "feet" aka "leveling legs", are more of a hassle than they are a benefit (imho). They rely on a magnetic connection inside the frame to hold the foot to the adjustment rod on top. They also only leave about 1/4" of clearance beneath the feet when fully retracted, so on anything except a glass smooth and level concrete slab, they will get hung up on you and or the rubber pads will get torn off. I may try to retrofit with a more basic solid spindle replacement, but do not be surprised if you are mildly frustrated trying to use the factory setup. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. Conclusion: Dollar for Dollar this is one of the best setups you can have on your machines that require mobility without sacrificing stablity. Just be prepared for a few minor headaches during assembly, and purchase a pair of matching swivel casters when you buy this so you can assemble it properly the first time if 360* mobility is important to you. ... show more

  • Strong mobile base for my Jet drill press.
Size: 10-1/2" x 14-1/2" to 17-1/2" x 21-1/2" Style: Base
When I read the reviews I was not sure what to expect. Many negative reviews about the quality of the welds. The welds while not perfect seemed just fine. Perhaps I'm not a picky as those individual. I found this base to be easy to assemble and strong. With easy movement.

  • Seems pretty stable with my bandsaw
Size: 19" x 20-1/2" to 29-1/2" x 29-1/2" Style: Base
Easily assembled. Just run the nylocks on the bolts first then turn them around. Don't care for the magnetic locks, they fall down if it gets jarred. Casters are a little stiff. Otherwise it's a lot better than having to drag it.

  • Not a prime example of good manufacturing
Size: 18-1/2" x 24-1/2" to 28-1/2" x 33-1/2" Style: Base
The idea is good, realization is sloppy. This thing must have been manufactured in some low grade factory. The iron wheels look like they have been cast by some medieval blacksmith. I had to use angle grinder to grind of the bumps and make them smooth, because they would not roll on the floor, but slide and glide while scratching the surface. Make sure you do that before you mount the machine on it. Only way I could screw the nuts with plastic lockers to the bolts is when I fixed them in to the vise and use powered nut driver to screw them. No way one could do that with his hands only. The bolts are barely long enough to fix the tubes in place. All of them had to be screwed all the way down, and than some more, and I'm nut sure that all of them reach the inner tube. Don't understand why wouldn't they put just a little bit longer bolts, a quarter of an inch would be enough. The stopping "mechanism" surely look good on paper or on a computer screen, but is just a junk in real life. It will surely prevent your machine to roll of down the floor by itself, but everything becomes wobbly when that thing is engaged. As a matter of fact, everything is wobbly as is, and this thing alone will not fix your machine ready for work. It's good for moving things around, but if you want to use your machine, like a table saw for example, you'll have to shim both the machine into the frame, and frame to the floor for everything to become not wobbly. It's not a problem to do it once in a while, but if you move your machine often you should count on that additional work. From the technical point of few the thing itself deserves probably two or max three stars, but because of the price i gave it four. It's ok overall, just make sure what you expect from it. ... show more
