Received the 8k BTU unit to set up in my bedroom where my computer is for work and for gaming. My bedroom wall and window faces the west so the sun beats down on my from just after noon until the sun finally dips behind the trees at 6pm. Living in the southeast, summers are hot, muggy and unbearable, and recently my whole apartment AC has decided to no longer work. This unit is way cheaper than the repairs for an outdated 20+ year old unit and while it in no way is something to cool off the entire apartment, it took my bedroom from 87 degrees down to 75 degrees in about 2.5 hours. (170 sq foot space). The air flow is strong, and once it starts cooling, it's ice cold in front of the unit with the rest of the room feeling nice and comfortable. My only issue is that the noise level from the unit is in no way 55db. This thing is loud. Louder than some actual window units. It'll be great for white noise to fall asleep to, but is a bit of a problem while in a work meeting or on Discord with gaming buddies. Had to do a little McGyver-ing to get the slide for the window to install right. (Outdated windows in this apartment) but overall, the slide is holding in place for now. Assembly of the hose was easy to do, but be careful not to pull too hard on the bracket or the direct exhaust piece that goes into the window because they will come off. They were easy enough to screw back into place, but it was annoying trying to get the hose positioned correct. As of today (05/17/2026) it's an easy 5 stars from me. I will update once my whole apartment AC is fixed or the summer ends, whichever comes first. Highly recommend for anyone in a pinch. ... show more

I bought this in 2021 and have used it daily for at least 9 months out of the year maybe more because i am so hot natured in live in the south where the mosquitos carry fans it's so hot. I've never had any trouble with it. I think this is a great unit that is really easy to set up. I also like that it has never leaked. The room i use it in is 19 by 17 and it cools it easily. When its 90 outside my room is 65. It takes it about 10 mins when it's 80 outside to get it that cool and when it's 90 or 95 it takes it about 20 or 25 mins but considering the humidity outside i think it's great. I would definitely buy this again and i am very happy i did! One other thing- the remote is easy to replace which i like because i lost the original:-). Every summer this is my favorite purchase. Its a little loud but as someone that is autistic it's not so loud that it bothers me because it blocks out other noises and helps me sleep. ... show more

This ac unit works great. Keeps it cool upstairs for the 2 small bedrooms we have up there. Easy to install. If you are looking for a quiet to sleep at night unit this is not it. It is very loud. I can hear it kick on when I am downstairs. It’s powerful and works great just loud.

I ordered this ac a little while ago in prep for the summer, I just installed it today, let me tell you I’ve paid more for less compared to this, this kit came with everything you need and was super easy to setup. The AC works well, it’s about what I would expect noise wise, not bad by any means. It came without damage and the price was amazing, I’m using it for my rather large bedroom and it works amazing, I don’t have to run it more than 10 mins to enjoy a nice cool room, the dust filter and such is super easy to clean, and the ac itself it’s heavy when you have to drain it it seems. I should have googled the negative reviews more and check about this product before I bought it. I saw the review of a customer in Amazon that the aircon does not last long. I ignored it and went ahead and bought it, when it arrived to me, the item is too heavy and can only be moved using a dolly. It is also too loud. I intended to return it but because it is too heavy, I did not. I purchased the item last week of November 2024. As instructed in the paper that came with it, I religiously clean the filter and always check the container of the condensation to make sure it is not full and the water continuously flow, the aircon is located near the window and in a clear area. My son installed the item, followed all the instructions so from start of turning on the aircon, the aircon has been running fine until first week of May 2026, when the aircon does not put out cold air anymore. I notified Shinco the problem, their response is “ Dear customer, the lifespan of the machine is related to various factors such as the usage environment and time. Generally speaking, the machine can be used for a long time if it is placed as per the instructions. Who buys a $200+ product that does not follow instructions? My son installed the aircon. If my son did not follow all instructions to install the aircon, it should not have been running fine for a year and few months after my son installed it, The usage environment and time and all instructions in the paper that came with it are followed. So obviously, the aircon or the product won’t last long, or the product became defective after certain months of usage. And the company does not acknowledge a product produced that became defective after certain months of usage. The hassle of always watching the water container of the condensation is also a problem. If you are planning to be away from your home for few days or a week, or longer, this aircon is not good for you. The aircon that sits in the window does not require a container for the water condensation, so I would recommend that instead. Another company would be acknowledging a defective product, not Shinco. If I would give no star, I would but there is no way to give a zero star. Only starts with 1 star. ... show more

I love this air conditioner. I chose it because I don’t like the way traditional window units look. It was really easy to install, and it works very well. It is a little loud, but it’s very powerful and keeps my bedroom really cool. I would definitely recommend it if you also don’t want a bulky unit sitting in your window. So far so good. The only thing is the cool setting doesn’t turn on and I think it’s because it’s not hot enough yet. It hasn’t reached high temps yet to fully see how well it works. The standard shipping took less than 24 hours. The machine looks great, a little smaller than expected. Wasn’t to heavy and can be easily moved around. Installation was super easy. Happy with the purchase so far. UPDATE: Been almost a month using this unit for an apartment master bedroom. Have had no issues and it cools the room well. It is a bit noisy but having the room cool during hot weather makes it totally worth it. Happy with the unit and would recommend. When I read other reviews, seeing other units leak or are super loud, maybe they got bad ones or damaged in transit. ... show more
