Wow! Super smooth reel. I'm a firm believer in Shimano stradics as the supreme flats/inshore spinning reel and wanted something of similar quality in a grouper reel. The Torium isn't really meant to be a winch, but I wanted a lightweight setup for offshore so I paired this with an XH Ugly stick tiger lite 5'8". All the dudes on the boat are slobbering over it as it's like 25% of the mass of their setups and rips the bait/fish right off the bottom with that 6.2 gear ratio. I'll update this review at the end of grouper season and see how she has held up. Wanted to try something new and heard good things so i ordered this reel. Its beautiful, smooth... but unfortunately not reliable. I only used it once. Washed it down with fresh water, dried it, stored it inside. Put it in the boat to go fishing yesterday and didnt find out it was broken till i was out on the water. Drag isn’t engaging, Switching from freespool to engage does nothing. Ruined my day. Pretty bummed out. Stuck with a $250 reel that doesnt work and i cannot rely on. Oceans nice, cant fish. Currently been on hold with shimano for 45m. ... show more

After the return period ended we took fishing and it does not work. Tried getting product support and the website and customer service number takes us to a Flash Furniture website and person. We cannot seem to get a hold of anyone to help. We would like to exchange for one that works.
