One of the best Shimano reels for the price point. Got my 2500 size for $79 on sale. Came in good condition and was shipped fast. Easy to tighten and screw on and handle and then it was good to go. Great for Bass fishing or in the surf because it is saltwater rated. Super smooth and strong drag. You can feel some resistance when reeling but it doesn’t seem to change its performance. A bit heavy too but it seems to be strong and made out of quality materials. Overall happy with my purchase.

I picked this up for my 2pc UL rod and have loved everything about it. The action is smooth, reel is light, and the handle is very ergonomic. I really appreciated that the reel did not twist my line after an entire summer of use. If you're looking for an UL reel to pair with an UL rod, this is the one. High performance in a small package for a great value.

I have been a bait cast person most of my life. I had the old Garcia Mitchel 300 as a child and loved it. So, I decided to try another one. This is light, smooth quiet and looks and feels solidly built. Mine said "Imported from Japan" but it was made in Malaysia. I was disappointed I thought it was made in Japan. So Amazon's ad was misleading a bit. But I am satisfied.

I recently purchased the Shimano Spinning Reel 21 Nusky, and it has quickly become one of my favorite reels for fishing. The performance is smooth and reliable, with an excellent drag system that helps control the line during fights with bigger fish. The build quality is solid, and it feels very durable, which is typical for Shimano products. The reel has a comfortable, well-balanced design that makes it easy to handle for long fishing sessions. It’s lightweight but still feels sturdy enough to withstand the wear and tear of saltwater fishing. The reel’s performance in terms of casting distance and retrieval speed (due to its gear ratio) has also been impressive, making it a great choice for both beginners and experienced anglers. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have preferred if it came with a more robust handle grip, as it can feel a bit slippery when wet. Other than that, the Shimano Nusky spinning reel is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a dependable, smooth-operating reel at a great price.

Not sure where all this praise for Shimano is coming from because I did not have a very sweet experience with Shimano reels lately. Hopefully someone from Shimano reads all our reviews to get some real world reviews after some actual use and not only first impressions. Like some other people, I also had a great first impression out of the box, but after some actual use I was pretty disappointed. I've had two of these reels, one came directly from Japan, and one bought here on Amazon. Needless to say, one of them was returned. Some of the disappointing things are: 1) not smooth when retrieving a lure, geary 2) rotor seems heavier than other reels 3) there's a lot of handle slop, I mean quite a bit Pros: 1) reel lays line very very nice 2) drag is excellent Due to this reel not being smooth when retrieving lures, I had it paired with a long light trout rod what I use for float fishing. For this purpose this reel is great due to having a good drag but I still wish Shimano delivered a better product, especially when they advertise their micromodule gear mesh and there is still a lot of handle play on their reels. This is happening even on their higher and reels such as Stradic, Ultegra (own both), and Vanford (returned). I still love Shimano due to their awesome drag and longevity, but please Shimano fix your gear mesh so we can enjoy nice and quiet retrieve when using lures.
