My son got this for his birthday, his first "real" reel (see what I did there?). He's an avid largemouth fisherman, and was really pleased with this unit. He says his casts are much farther, and the reeling in is smooth and fast. Not only that, it's an awesome looking reel. Not sure he'll catch more fish, but he's enjoying the process more! The reel itself is very nice, the only issue I have with it is the drag dial. The dial is half covered with the body of the reel. So that makes it hard to use the dial with big fingers. The dial itself is hard to turn to the desired position.

This reel actually casted better than the Slx dc. I backlashed on the dc but the xt no issues. Easier to dial in.

This reel is really tough to beat for the money. Smooth, long casts with no backlash issues, even against strong winds. It's light and easy to palm. Love it so far!
