This is the second SLX DC reel I have purchased. To be honest I returned the first one thinking it didn’t work. After watching many videos on how to set it up, I purchased the second one. Best decision I ever made. This reel is fantastic and simply just fun to cast. Will definitely be getting an other one or the next step above best reel I have ever used to date! Paired perfectly with my Googan squad green series rod. Definitely will recommend to everyone that I talk to and fish with! Easy to use even if you have never used a bait castor reel before put the settings in 4 and will not birds nest (back lash) on you if it does it’s really simple to fix it. I use 18lbd test beaded on setting 2 and this reel bombs my lures and gets them where I want them with ease! *ATTENTION* Braided line has a tendency to slip on the spoon causing one to think there is a drag problem. It is very hard to notice. You will think the spool is moving but I assure you it is not. Love this reel. And at under $200 with DC tech, it's a win. I went from a Curado to this and while the Curado is also an incredible reel, this suits my needs a lot better. I use this as an all-around on a medium Ugly Stick GX2. It's currently my favorite setup for general fishing from worms and 1 oz sinkers on the bottom, to 1/4 oz spinners and everything in between. With a 1 oz sinker and 12 pound mono or 40 pound braid, you can literally throw this thing all the way to the knot on your spool. You can BOMB this thing a mile. It is also VERY forgiving for beginners and when casting into wind, etc. You can absolutely still birdnest it if you don't know what you're doing but I spend way more time fishing and way less time untangling nightmares and buying line. The reel quality speaks for itself. It's a mid range Shimano DC reel with 7.2:1 retrieve ratio. The issue is I ordered the 8.2:1 retrieve ratio (same price). The box indicates the reel is a 150HG, not 150HGX in big characters all over the box. The box states the retrieve speed is 7.2:1. The sticker on the box is mislabeled as SLX DC 150 (no mention of HG or HGX) and lists the retrieve speed as 8.2:1. So someone is looking at that label (probably barcode selected) for retrieve speed and not looking at the model number on the box. It's not at all uncommon to pick the wrong item from a shelf if the label is incorrect, and I do not want to go through the hassle of return and retry. I just wanted to try the faster retrieve speed for saltwater fishing (spanish macks anyone?). I don't fault the seller much, just took off 1 star, but I'd suggest the seller check their inventory to ensure the labels on the boxes accurately reflect the content, to avoid shipping fees for returned items and replacements. ... show more

Phenomenal reel I have the curado DC and several johnny Morris and this SLX DC holds up really well in feel and control to the curado. Which is my gold standard. At this point all my extra reels are going to be SLX's. At the price point for the regular and the DC there's no reason not to as this reel makes it's direct competitors feel cheap and sloppy. ... show more
