  • Smooth and Quiet
Size: 17T X 0.094"
Smooth and Quiet. Works great on a single speed(;

  • Best mid-priced freewheels on the market.
Size: 16T X 0.094"
These are great freewheels. They work just as well as those fancy anodized ones that cost four times as much... and they're nice and quiet--I'm not into that whole 'hear-my-freewheel-a-mile-away' business (if you want that then pay $80 for a white eno). If not, then get one of these. Great quality. Be careful though... get the ones with the four-prong teeth; the shimano ones with only two tooth contacts are awful. They feel cheap and they are difficult to mount/dismount, even with the proper tool, as the teeth are thin and round off easily. ... show more

  • Great Freewheel
Size: 16T X 0.094"
This freewheel was reasonably priced and made from good materials. Just make sure you buy the tool to remove. I purchased the Park tool (FR6) 4 prong with external teeth. Worked great. Easy to remove with a vice tha it is using a socket driver. Usually from the factory these are tightened with large machines. Not too many bikes seem to use these external freewheels. There are more expensive and even sealed type but not worth purchasing unless you make your living off your bike. I have only replace 2 in my lifetime. To spend 80 dollars or more on a sealed high end freewheel does not make any sense. I have people ask me about some play or possible bad bearings and they always blame the freewheel. Typically it is the wrong chain or a cheap chain to blame. If the hub, wheel, sprocket and freewheel spins "true" then it is the chain. Make sure you match the chain size matches your sprocket and freewheel. If the teeth are too small or too big then you will have issues later. ... show more

  • Holy Smokes It's SUPER Quiet! Also Smooth. Using it on my eBike (Electric Bike).
Size: 16T X 0.094"
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: added video to show how quiet this one is compared to others :) So, the first thing I noticed about this freewheel was that it was just ever so slightly stickier than my older freewheel. Not by a lot, but it was noticeable. I believe that's due to the (possibly) thicker lubricant used in this one. BUT... you can only really tell a difference when you're spinning it with your finger. WILL NOT make a difference once it's on your bike. You won't be able to tell. I have a pretty powerful Electric Bike and with my old freewheel, it made a loud clicking noise whenever I wasn't pedaling (as like 99% of all bicycles do). But this one is just insanely quiet. I can only really hear it when someone else is riding my bike around and even then, only when they ride really close to me (and I have to be listening for it. It's also super smooth. No snags or anything like that. I had read in other reviews that there was a clicking noise but... that's definitely not the case with the one I got. So if you get one with a loud clicking noise, I'd send it back and get another. Could be faulty or something. Bottom line: I've been riding bikes for ~25 years and this is, by far, THE QUIETEST freewheel I've ever used. Didn't even know you could get them this quiet and I sampled a lot in a bike shop before going for this one. Definitely way quieter than anything they had in the bike shop. So awesome. Better than what I was expecting. Super happy with this purchase :) Hope this is helpful to someone out there! ... show more

  • Awesome

  • Good value single speed freewheel
Size: 16T X 0.094"
Good value, it's not a high end part so it's not super quiet but it's a Shimano branded freewheel. A step up if you're used to big box bikes with no name Chinese parts, a decent replacement if you need a single speed freewheel in a pinch. Reasonable price, good build and quality, and quiet enough. For anyone who has anything to say about the ratcheting volume, if it's too loud for you, you aren't going fast enough to get that wind noise in your ears; alternatively, don't stop pedaling. Gotta keep that cadence up anyways, am I right? ... show more

  • Get this one, not the other
Size: 17T X 0.094"
This, the Shimano MX-30 is the one with 4 notches meant for use with a removal tool. The other similar one doesn't have the same notch pattern, rather some sort of thin notch that is apart of the threading. This one can actually be removed without destroying anything. It's the most silent freewheel I've used. I do have another louder one form a reputable brand, but I haven't found a specific use scenario that would make it better for me than the silence of this Shimano freewheel. ... show more

  • Fit my Kent Thruster 700 Fixie for increased speed.
Size: 16T X 0.094"
Fit my Kent Thruster 700 fixie from Wally-Mart. I love the speed increase of 16T over 18T but I am really happy it is flat here. It is so quiet that now I need a bell to warn pedestrians I am coming. The coasting clicking is almost imperceptible if you hear anything at all. The chinese 18T freewheel it came with didn't have any provision for spinning it off since the dimples are so shallow. I read of others using a chisel to cut into it and then using a hammer to tap it off counter clockwise. The first thing I found was a punch (nail-set actually) and I was able to coax it off without destroying it but I don't think I would reuse it anyway. The Shimano is just too nice and not expensive. ... show more
