I'm unsure if it was the seller, or Amazon who's at fault here, so it's very possible this wont be an issue for anyone else. However, the first chain I received came in a shipping bag that was never closed, and was twisted up and in poor condition. Inside was the bag labeled "1" in my photo. I was missing the pliers, and instead got a small allen wrench, which wouldn't be needed for installation of this chain. I contacted Amazon, and they immediately replaced it for free, and I received the package labeled "2", with all parts that were supposed to be there included, and the chain was actually in its own package. Although the first chain was in perfect condition, I was still upset, but the situation was resolved quickly. Other than that, it's a smooth, nice quality chain, with beautiful colors and easy installation. Update: Upon comparison of the chain, the first chain was significantly shorter than the replacement. Seems like a decent chain. Came in a plastic bag that had torn and lost 1 of the 3 master links. Otherwise, would have given 5 stars.

First off, I’m biased because I’m obsessed with anodized metal. The quick link tool is small and handy, so you can easily fit them into a bike pouch. I love that it came with extra quick links! I’m adding those to the pouch as well. The chains are the perfect length for both of my 7 speed bikes. Only had to add one quick link to secure it. I’ll come back to update this after I use them a bit more. I just took both my bikes for a quick spin around the neighborhood and they work great! One of the old chains was so rusted it didn’t even bend anymore. Was definitely overdue. Still not sure what the bent metal piece is for, but I didn’t need it. 😂 As of right now, highly recommend! ... show more

    • First chain I snapped

I put the chain on with a new 8-speed rear derailleur and shifter. Immediately, I noticed phantom shifting in 7th gear. I indexed the rear derailleur many times trying to fix the issue, but even when I could shift through all of my gears flawlessly I experienced phantom shifting in higher gears. I brought the bike to REI and they indexed it, still didn't fix the issue. The other day, while riding pretty mildly, the chain snapped on me (not at the master link). This made me suspect the chain was at fault, so I put the one that came with my bike back on. Now it works with no issue. It's possible the phantom shifting was because of my choice of derailleur (shimano RD-TX800)/shifter (Sl-M310 3x8 Speed 24S Shifter from DMAIP). Also, I got my bike on facebook marketplace and it's possible the derailleur hanger is slightly bent. But neither I nor REI bike mechanics saw anything wrong/bent with my setup. I checked the reviews before I bought this product and saw many people have had good experiences with it. Maybe I just got unlucky, but the phantom shifting + easy snapping makes this chain pretty much unusable for me. ... show more
