Description

Freestyle bait reel for various types of fishing. High casting performance has been achieved by updating to a magnum light spool. The line capacity has been further increased by deepening the grooves, allowing the angler to adjust the spool for a wider range of fishing conditions. The I-DC5 brake provides instant and appropriate braking force even when the lure suddenly stalls. The lineup of gear ratios includes 6.2 normal gear, 7.4 HG (high gear), and 8.5 XG (extra high gear), making it an enjoyable fishing tool for bass, sea bass, and rockfish.

  • My new favorite reel!
Highly recommend this amazing reel, especially for someone who is newer to baitcasting reels. The dc braking system when set properly significantly reduces the chances of backlashes and over runs. High quality, and super smooth! Cheaper than the curado dc and has the more adjustable braking system. Only downside is no warranty is given for Japanese market reels. This is my first dc reel and I did a lot of research before buying, does not disappoint! ... show more

  • Amazing
I’ve changed from Daiwa to shimano for my baitcasters. I now own this one and a scorpion 17 dc. And they’re both amazing reels, I use the 17 for flukes and it is a complete work horse. And I use the 21 for crankbaits and both work great. The 21 cast a mile and is super smooth. While the 17 you feel every crank which I do prefer. I guess the 21 is a little too smooth for my likings haha. It almost feels like when your drag is too loose and not doing anything, but I can assure you it is cranking in anything you toss and you can’t feel it at all. ... show more

  • My new favorite reel
This thing is amazing. Strong wind no problem. 5 settings and all work well into the wind down to around the 2-3 setting depending on wind strength. I have casted this reel into the direct wind and it has yet to back lash. I have it on a Duckett MH micro magic pro and the pair work together pretty awesome. The reel helps to make skipping a breeze. I love it. Price is only a number if you value proficiency and this reel is worth every penny. Thanks ... show more

  • High quality as expected from Shimano!
Pretty much the same feel, weight and operational design as the Curado DC. It mainly differs in that it's finish is more metallic like than the Curado (more metallic than even the picture indicates) and has extra line settings you can internally adjust by taking the brake cover off. Some anglers may see the added benefit of the added line settings over the Curado, but most will not. Plus the internal knob to adjust the settings is kind of hard to rotate ad it is hard to get to with your fingers. If you have long finger nails, you may be able to rotate it. I had to wedge a willow blade in it to get it to move. Shipping was surprisingly fast as it quoted me 2 weeks and I received it in 4 days. Props to the supplier! ... show more

  • Fast shipping, as described
Title says it all. I've owned an slx DC, so settin g it up took seconds. Casts a country mile and strong. Have yet to test it on a good fish, but so far so good. Love the sing of a DC reel.

  • Straight BUTTER! Best reel on the market imo
Best reel in my arsenal, And I have a BIG arsenal full of $200-$350 reels and this one cannot be matched. It is as smooth as butter, Clean with a awesome looking finish. Once set to your liking it pretty much will never backlash I’m talking bombing 1oz jigs down to a ned rig/wacky worm. Love my DC Curado but it’s nowhere near the scorpions level. Great job Shimano! ... show more

  • Best reel for under $250
This reel is the ultimate work horse. It has more brake settings than a curado dc and it's very compact. It's low profile makes it one of the best to palm and the comfort is very important especially if you're a bass fishing all day long. I dropped it in the water few times and you do have to dry it out for the electro magnet for chip to work. I also found out not to over spool you're line or else the electromagnetic won't generate. You can feel and hear how well the braking system works. I love the sound of scorpion dc. My only gripe is the drag settings and there's no drag clicker. Don't waste your money on SLX DC and save the money for Scorpion DC. It's a JDM version of curado dc from what I know. ... show more

  • Wonderful reel. Smooth as butter, and the brake works perfectly, just as you would expect.
My new favorite reel. I am a Shimano fanatic, and I love the Scorpion. Highly recommend for beginners or advanced users.
