I have never owned my own lighting equipment but have had the opportunity to use industry standard lighting and studios. I get request to do film and photography often but I haven’t take the leap into buying lighting equipment because I was unsure of how much work I would actually be doing and the expense seemed a bit too much. I decided finally to purchase this set to just get back into it and work on lighting skills and do some different stuff with my art. So far, it’s been good. It took me about 30 minutes to set up I totally and 20 minutes to break down. I didn’t realize the back drop cloths were so small compared to the size of the actual backdrop frame but that’s okay I can always get larger ones. The materials majority of the poles and stands are made of is thin aluminum so you definitely want to handle with care because it would be fairly easy to bend or warp the poles. The lights, unbrella and boxes worked well along with the bulbs for them. I did throw out the boxes the bulbs came in and wrapped them in styrofoam to pack them back up to keep them safe, the bag that the entire set comes in is not going to last long I can already tell but purchasing a large sports bag would probably keep everything much safer for longer. A few of the things had their own bags to wrap and protect them but most did not so that is something I will probably look to buy too. The only way to really get the most out of this kit is to understand lighting and editing. You also will need to handle with care. You could probably get away with using for a few years if you aren’t to rough with the set and I plan to slowly replace each item with probably some higher end lighting equipment when I feel ready. The cords for the lighting fixtures are relatively short considering. I will probably purchase 4 - 6’ extension cords to leave in the kit permanently because that was probably the biggest issue I had when trying to film. Overall if you are getting into photography or videography I highly recommend because this will give you the opportunity to learn without spending a ton of money. I am happy with the purchase!

The price point is definitely worth it for the amount of equipment you get. You get a full studio! Easy set up and it's portable. I love it!

I received this item today. It’s great, lights put out a good strong light. Rigging is sturdy enough for beginner/intermediate purposes. I was disappointed that one of the light bulbs was broken (a crack in the bulb). I called Amazon Customer Service who was happy to process a return and refund. However, I really didn’t want to wait for a whole new kit to be shipped, so I’ll have to buy another bulb (approximately $20). Worth it to avoid the hassle of packing it all back up, only to assemble it again in a week or so when a new one arrives. TL;DR: great lighting/backdrop kit, but be prepared to buy some replacement bulbs before you can use it.

You definitely get a lot of pieces for the money, and everything works OK despite being pretty flimsy. I expected that. If you want a full portrait studio with high quality components, expect to pay 3 or mor times what this set costs. This set will generally do the job for internet quality video and portraits. However, the single bulb compact fluorescent light fixtures simply do not generate enough lumens for serious portraiture. Using all the lights up close to the subject, and even with my 85mm lens at f1.8, I had to crank the ISO to 2000 to get a usable shutter speed of 1/250th. For the bargain price, this set is a good value. Just be aware that you get what you pay for.

Generally good for the price. The only drawback is the backdrop stand which is very weak and flimsy, but again, what can you expect for this price?
