The first one was defective (tried it with 2 different TVs). Amazon promptly replaced it. The replacement worked perfectly, easy hookup, will now order one more for another house.Highly recommend to be able to watch old DVD and VHSs with old Player.

Keep in mind this technically is downgrading the signal, but the quality of the composite output is as good as what gotten from cable boxes and streaming/media boxes with composite out, only thing is wish it had s-video out too. However do note that did not test this with any HDMI only video game consoles, because of on more modern consoles like the PS4/PS5 and all Xbox One models, the text so small that downgrading it to a letter boxed 640x480 signal would make lots of text and numbers very hard if not impossible to read, as text even an issue on some ui elements on streaming boxes and apps, when down converted to composite ... show more

My kid had broken the hdmi input on the TV's lone hdmi input, and we only stream. I plugged a fire stick into the converter and connected to the RCA inputs. It worked, but the picture quality was noticeably less well defined than the original image. Wheras the picture used to be crisp digital, it's now more like watching a VHS video cassette. It's worth noting that the device was a bit finicky. I had to plug the firestick directly into the device, rather than use the flexible extension that came with the firestick. Also, not all firesticks worked with it. We have many, and the newest one worked while an older one did not. Using a firestick, it was not necessary to supply power to the converter. ... show more

    • Saved an old, but good TV.
We have a 32" 4:3 aspect ratio CRT TV in the basement. My wife and I watch it while on the treadmill. It also has its own VCR built in, for playing our collection of family videos. We recently cut cablevision and since this almost like-new TV is analog, it won't pick up any signals. We have four other modern large and medium size TVs in the house, all connected to Fire Sticks, and Tablo for OTA TV. The old TV didn't have HDMI, so this little device came in handy for connecting a Fire Stick to an old TV. As far as clarity, you can't compare an analog TV to Hi-Def digital, it's not fair. But I will say, the picture is just as good as when it's connected to a DVD player through its RCA connectors. ... show more

This is a relatively small box. It comes complete with a power wire, and small instruction manual, but no power box, nor AV wires. I found a 1 Amp cell phone charger is sufficient to power it. It I'd usable with both NTSC/American signal, and PAL. I put mine to use to play a gaming console on a HDTV. Not a 4k, but more like a 1080i, older model.     • Won't work with a Fire stick.
Due to the placement of the power inlet, a Fire stick wouldn't fit without purchasing an adapter.
