I got these for my 6 year old son who collects fossils he finds. He does find some but these will be fun to hide next time we go looking. What I received looks virtually identical to the listing photo. Each piece is of a trilobite pygdium/tail (no thorax or head) and roughly 1.5" at the widest part. So to receive 5 of them seems a good value. The one thing I'm kind of disappointed with is the display case. I didn't expect anything fancy for the price but its not quite what I expected (glass or plexiglass panels with the pieces glued in). The fossils arrive separate in bags and the case is like two pieces of thick cling wrap that hold them in place when closed with the "feet" connected. Its an interesting solution and it does hold them securely. Basically its like being shrink wrapped but the reflections make it look kind of plasticky/cheap. But that's a minor thing. I paid for the fossils and those are impressive given the price paid. ... show more

Nice folding frame where you center the 5 pieces and let them catch an eye and tell the story. Mine doesn't sit flush though. One of the legs sits crooked and I off set that by displaying it high and in a dark corner. Fossils look good. Frame isn't balanced.

I was very happy with the product and my grandson was very excited with it as one of his birthday presents. I felt it well worth the money. They don't come set in glass but the frame is a plastic that once you close it holds the pieces in place almost like a vacuum pack and looks very nice on his desk. ... show more

    • Cool gift, weird packaging.
It was a really cool gift. My little brother loved it. Only its not glass or thick plastic that holds the fossils up, it's like stretchy plastic. It's weird, but I guess it makes sense since the fossils are all of different thickness. Just wasn't expecting it.
