They are very easy to set up. I use mine in a large incubator in my barn. I use the gateway with a wifi extender. It works great. I can get readings on all 4 of my incubators from my phone anywhere I am at. They are connected to the gate way and WiFi range extender. I set up my alerts on temperature and humidity. It alerts me if temperatures drop or get too high. I have 4 incubators temperature and humidity sensors in my incubators and they all read about the same with the SensorPush.   • Loyal returning customer for a reason
I have been a loyal SensorPush user for about 7 years now, and I couldn’t be happier with their products. The G1 WiFi Gateway has been a fantastic addition. The setup was incredibly easy, and it seamlessly connected with my existing SensorPush sensors. The remote monitoring capability is a game-changer, allowing me to check on my fridge, freezer, outdoor fish setup, from anywhere in the world. The data is always accurate, and the alerts are reliable, giving me peace of mind knowing that my everything is in a stable environment. One of the best things about SensorPush is the lack of monthly fees for their cloud service, which is a huge plus. The web dashboard is also very user-friendly and provides a great overview of all my sensors. I've only had to contact their customer support once in all these years, and the experience was excellent. The US-based team was responsive and knowledgeable.   • Exceeds expectations
This review covers both the SensorPush G1 WiFi/Ethernet Gateway and the HTP and HTP.wx sensors. My needs were in obtaining temperature/humidity devices that could be monitored remotely as I do extensive overseas travel. I read reviews for a number of devices and the SensorPush system provided connectivity using BlueTooth, WiFi and Ethernet connectivity with multiple parameter monitoring. Many reviewers noted the company provided quick support via e-mail. I had a pre-installation question I sent on a Sunday evening and had a reply on Monday early afternoon answering my inquiry that was within the promised amount of time for responding to e-mail. The G1 Gateway and the most accurate HTP.wx are manufactured in the USA while the least expensive sensor HT1 is made in China. The HTP.wx sensor which is water resistant and has the ability to measure barometric pressure is mounted in the attic which has been experiencing high humidity levels. Using the information provided by the sensor, I am able to turn on/off an attic fan using SmartHome automation to lower the humidity level. The basic sensor for temperature and humidity is located in the basement that is not subjected to the levels of humidity as I experience in the attic. However I also have the ability to run a dehumidifier and separate fan for air circulation. I first connected the sensors to the iPhone app using BlueTooth and then installed the Gateway. With one sensor in the basement and one in the attic which is essentially the third level of the house, I needed to find an ideal location that provided significant signal strength. I ended up installing the Gateway on the first floor where I obtained equal signal strength. The connectivity remained robust for nearly a month when I noticed I was not receiving updates for almost two hours. I checked the Gateway and rebooted it and still no connection while my WiFi was working as well as all my other SmartHome automation devices and six WiFi thermostats. I suspect there was an issue with the server on the SensorPush company end being momentarily down. When I checked sometime later, the app was again being updated. No data was missing during the short outage. Since I was leaving for an international trip, I decided to run an Ethernet cable to a a switch in the house. My router and several Netgear switches are all plugged into UPS battery back-ups and the house is equipped with a standby generator to ensure continuously connectivity. When the plane touched down in Europe and I turned on my phone, I immediately began receiving push notifications from the SensorPush app giving me up-to-date status. I have been monitoring both sensors while here in Europe writing this review. I was pleasantly surprised at the functionality and appearance of the SensorPush app. It provides a great deal of flexibility in setting parameter limits for reporting and the ability to view data easily as a combination of alphanumeric characters and graphic showing trends of rising, stable or falling. A circle plotted on a horizontal line appears as green if within a clear zone indicating what the user defines as a normal range and a red circle within a shaded area if the value is above or below the user-defined normal range. The view can be changed to provide a graphic representation by hour, day, month and year. The graph lines of each parameter are presented in green indicating the measurements are within the user-defined limits and will be displayed in red when a parameter is above or below a defined limit. I am totally satisfied with the price, performance and technical support in the first full month of using this product. It is too early to provide information on battery life. However, the app provides information on battery level of each sensor so monitoring it is easy. I am looking to purchase a couple of HT.w sensors that are also water resistant and made in USA but does not have the capability of monitoring barometric pressure which is not needed since I already have one with that capability. If you have needs for remote monitoring whether off-premises or thousands of miles from home, I highly recommend purchasing the Gateway G1 to provide internet connectivity. ... show more

  • Extremely simple to set up and use
Excellent products. So simple to use and set up. I own a two story radiator shop right next to my house and last winter the garage door opener erroneously activated in the middle of the night, when the temperature was near zero and quite windy. Even though I live right next door, I had no Idea the door had opened. It caused many split pipes and flooded the entire upper floor with 1" of ice. Also, I use a portable fuel oil (salamander type) heater to keep the shop above freezing as temperatures here in central NY go below freezing for weeks or months in a row. In the past I have had problems keeping it running 24/7 especially since I don't work on weekends and don't check it directly until Monday morning. It sometimes runs out of fuel and I don't catch it or if it fails to fire up properly the first time, it has to be manually cycled to get it to light. So I decided to monitor the temperature more closely and needed a way to have it notify me wherever I am that it needs attention quick. This winter I purchased a cheap temperature and humidity sensor that utilizes Bluetooth technology. But it wasn't able to lock on from the shop to the house and thus wasn't reliable enough. So after some research I found these SensorPush products that use a wireless gateway and multiple sensors to send a signal directly to my cell phone and will alarm me if any sensor is out of my preselected parameters. I bought two sensors, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. This system works fantastically! I can be out of town and check to see what the temperature and humidity is in my shop any time 24/7. I have it set to alarm if the temperature should drop below 38 degrees. I also set it up to notify me if it goes above 75 degrees in case I leave my boil out tank running by accident, which I have done since purchasing this system and the alarm did notify me in the middle of the night. So I am thrilled to have this ability. The cost was higher than I would have liked to spend but I figure it will pay for itself if it saves me from freezing pipes or boiling my tank dry. I also purchased a new portable heater to use as a back up and they are both on thermostats that kick them on and off at a preset temperatures. So far this winter I have had no problems keeping the shop warm, but more importantly, keeping it from freezing. Great products, I will be soon buy several more sensors to use here and there as I keep thinking of interesting new ways to use them. I adjusted my refrigerator and freezer to optimum temps with them and I'd like to set one up outside to monitor in the summer. ... show more

  • Impressive customer support
I have previously ordered a wifi temperature sensor from Govee. It was a nice product with amazing analytics but failed to provide email alerts. I could only get alerts when the app was active and only in a transient form. They came and went and I could not find them after the fact in the iPhone notification log. Unless you happen to be looking at your iPhone at right time, there would be no traces of temperature limit violation alerts. Unfortunately, I had to return the Govee product back to Amazon. With some understandable skepticism I ordered the SensorPush gateway and two temperature/humidity sensors. The setup was easy. User instructions were probably the most clear and intuitive that I have seen in a long time. Even the guide itself was printed in relatively large and clear print, which makes a difference for an old person like me. I took me all of 3 minutes to plug the gateway, pair it with iPhone via Bluetooth and then connect to my home wifi. Adding each sensor was another 30-second exercise. Then I started my testing. Notifications for high temperature limit violations were issued very quickly, essentially in real time. I had a little more problem with the low limit thresholds. I put sensors in a fridge a little to far from the gateway and the device kept giving me 65F for a few minutes. I finally understood that the sensor was not communicating with the gateway so no data updates were provided. I took a cold sensor out of the freezer and almost immediately the temperature reading in the app got updated to 20F and I got the alarm I was waiting for. I was able to play around with the calibration and it worked well. Once you adjust the temperature offset, you will be getting accurate readings. I have precise thermometers at home and was able to calibrate SensorPush sensors right on the money. The app, by the way, is so simple it is amazing. Probably the most intuitive I have seen in a long time. As a software developer myself, I was impressed. The cloud service comes free with the device purchase. Several other monitoring services wanted to charge me a fixed price for measurement hardware (more than SensorPush) plus a nice monthly/quarterly fee. Everything was going well except for email notifications. I just could not get them. I ran many tests with various heat sources and proved to myself that this system will produce notifications and will do that quickly and reliably. But without email alerts it was a no-go for me. By the way, you cannot set up the email notifications in the app. You have to go on the SensorPush web site and login into your account to do it. SensorPush is an excellent product and my only recommendation would be to add the email activation directly in the mobile app. The absence of email alerts was disappointing. I submitted a problem report form directly in the app on Sunday in the hope of getting a reply in the next 48 hours. In about 30 minutes I got a confirmation email that my report was received and someone is looking at it. The email asked me to provide more information if I had anything to add. I replied that I wanted to confirm that I did get an email from SensorPush and would like to get similar emails for actual alerts. In a couple of hours I received email from one of the company founders, Nick, who let me know that he examined my account and everything looked good to him. He said that he would be asking his cloud team to dig into the problem. In the meantime, he advised me to check my spam folder. Sure enough, I found all email alerts in the Gmail spam folder. I should have checked it before firing off a complaint. I immediately sent email to Nick thanking him for a quick response and telling him that he was correct in his suspicion. I have retested both sensors under a variety of conditions. I probably did more testing than SensorPush QA people. I confirmed that email alerts are issued reliably and quickly and that notifications are popping up in the iPhone notification log even if the app itself is not active.   • Mostly great if all you need is to monitor your sensors from a web page.
I've been using SensorPush sensors and gateways for several years now. I've purchased four gateways and over a dozen sensors of all three tiers. The sensors overall are great, super granular, but they may have a bit more variance than you would think they should have. But this review is mostly about the gateway, so let's focus on that. The good: If you want to monitor your sensors through the internet, this is a great way to do it. You can use the app which is good (has issues, see more below) but the app truly shines if you use a desktop browser. The browser lets you do something the mobile app doesn't, and that's to merge graphs together. Like let's say you have two sensors some distance apart, you can merge their graphs together to get a very pleasing graph of how the two sensors may be converging or diverging, which opens up a whole world of possibilities for inferring conditions of wherever your sensors are. You want to place one in the deep shade while the other gets only a light cover? You can now easily infer if it's a cloudy day or a sunny day even if you're not there. Or arranged another way, you can tell if it's sunny or cloudy over the course of the day. It's great! Tech support is also responsive and helpful within the scope of what they can do. Not much else to say about that. They are good, but I'm not trying to throw them any real curveballs. The frustrations (lots of them): Ok, so ease of setup is better in theory than in practice. It can take a frustratingly long Time to get a device connected to your wi-fi network. Initial setup is via bluetooth, but even so you may experience disconnections of one or the other or both during the setup process. Since there's very little feedback as to what's going on, you're just constantly second guessing whether the connection is actually happening or not. After several retries you might get frustrated and want to quit, but magically it connects and works. And it may have taken several minutes of staring at your phone while status shows disconnected or G1 gateway can't be contacted, or some other error. Yea, it's rather annoying. Range has been a bit of an issue too. 30 feet under ideal conditions is still optimistic. If there's even a single hollow core door in the way, range could be cut in half. 20 feet out through a single pane of glass and sensors will constantly disconnect. Anyway the sensors are a lot more range dependent. And if you have two sensors 40 feet apart with 1 gateway in between, good luck getting both to connect reliably, especially if a sensor is inside a refrigerator, like its intended to be used. That's why I have 3 gateways in a single house. Seems to work great now. The web interface itself is great for merging graphs, but that's the extent of it. Neither app nor browser has any memory when you reload it, which means everything defaults to displaying graphs on an hourly scale. This may be great for some sensors, but frustrating when you just want it to immediately default to a daily graph. In fact, why is there no option to do this... Also a minor quibble, but there's no configuration or management of devices via the web browser, even if you create an account. It's strictly monitoring. And it seems they finally support all 3 of their sensors via their standard Dashboard and not resorting to using the Beta dashboard. Not that they look any different now. Another frustration involves the lack of being able to easily switch between SensorPush accounts from the mobile app. You can't simply log out and log in with a different account, you have to do more, I think at the minimum clear all history and data, and possibly uninstall/reinstall as well. All just to switch accounts. So why would you want to switch accounts? Because this is another frustration. SensorPush accounts have no "management." It's great that anybody with the credentials can check the sensors from a web browser which works effectively as read only. But anybody can take those same credentials, pop them into the mobile app, and now they have full control of renaming devices or messing with your calibrations. Also, anybody with the only account will see ALL devices. So here's a practical scenario. Let's say you own two properties, one is your primary and the other is a "shared" property with friends. You have sensors and gateways at both. If you lump everything under a single account (and with Gateways, they have to be associated with a specific account), then there is no way to share your account with anybody at the "shared" property, because they will have full access to all sensors and gateways across the board. If you create TWO separate accounts, then there is no way for you to readily switch between your primary property and the shared one. In other words, there are two good options to accomplish this kind of thing, and neither is available. If you can create a "guest" user to your account where you can limit them to "read only" (just like in a browser) and also limit their visibility to sensors so they can only see the ones relevant to the "shared" property, then you've virtually eliminated any issues. Or, if you can allow fast switching between several accounts, that too would fix the issue. But nope, neither option is possible, which means additional hassle trying to juggle this kind of very common scenario. Which again leads to the final frustration, seeming lack of innovation. SensorPush as sensors is great. Nothing is as granular or responsive and I really really appreciate being able to pull data and manipulate it if I want. But you just don't get a sense that there's a lot of new innovation going on. You would think that some kind of integration with other products might be in the works, like perhaps a Gateway 2.0 that allows sensors to act as triggers for events just like a lot of their competitors in their space do. Even this lack of user and device management ability feels like some archaic design philosophy they are stuck with. Imagine if a new Gateway had something like Matter compatibility, this would allow SensorPush to remain relevant for years to come instead of feeling like a niche product that does its one trick really well, but is incapable of more, allowing others to surpass them. Or imagine Arduino level support, using a "Gateway 2.0" to act as a relay controller of some kind. Instead, if I want "if temp exceeds X degrees, then flip this relay" I have to resort to using a completely different system, one that is vastly more compatible and flexible. Which I've grudgingly started doing in a few places, despite really liking the SensorPush performance. Despite all that I still think this is a solid product, as long as you only need it to do the one specific thing it's good at. But expecting anything more at this stage and you may as well move on to another product immediately. For likely less money.   • Once I had the right device, it was easy set up and works as expected.
The first device that arrived would not connect to the app on the phone to get started. You can email support but that can take a day or two for them to get back. Once they did, they were very helpful. I ended up chatting with support via Amazon to get immediate help. After running every troubleshooting step we could, it was decided to return the Gateway and get a new one. The 2nd one worked instantly as expected. ... show more
