I rarely review things, but I wanted to get my opinion of these bulbs out there after reading a few reviews with inaccurate information. A previous reviewer stated that the Sengled hub and app were "garbage" - I have had zero issues with the Sengled hub or app. They stated that you could not recover a forgotten password and that customer service was subpar. My password is memorized in my phone, but I did forget it early on in use and was easily able to reset it. The app is easy to use - whether setting up the hub, adding new bulbs, renaming them, grouping them, or choosing a light temperature or color, it is all simple and straightforward. I have never had an issue trying to figure out how to do what I want. It was then said that you could not pair more than 4 bulbs with Alexa, but this is also incorrect. As of now I have 26 bulbs set up in the app and they all work with Alexa. I can control them individually or in groups in the Sengled app, AND I can also control them with my voice via Alexa with groups set up through the Alexa app. The 26 bulbs include a mixture of Sengled Element Classic, Color Plus, and BR30 recessed light bulbs. I can (and plan to) add up to 38 more bulbs, for a total of 64, all of which can be supported by the same hub. I have nothing but good things to say about Sengled products. Since I was first gifted a set of their JBL bluetooth speaker bulbs (Sengled Pulse) over 4 years ago, I have continuously added to my Sengled collection without any issues. The software is user-friendly and intuitive, and they continuously come out with new products that seem to integrate well with their past hardware. The only thing I would want to see improved upon is that they come out with a single app to control all Sengled products, as I can't control my Pulse bulbs and Element bulbs with the same app. This is not a big deal, more of just a user preference, and not even remotely annoying enough to take away a star from my rating. Don't let the negative reviews turn you off of the Sengled bulbs as a great, less expensive alternative to the Philips Hue bulbs/hub. I will 100% buy these bulbs again, and I plan to eventually have them in all of the fixtures in my house.

Love these bulbs! I think we're up to 22 Sengled Element smartbulbs in our house now. As a mother of 4 boys, I LOVE them! No more lights left on all over the house to drive me mad! I was raised to never leave a light on when you leave a room, so it makes me crazy to have them left burning. Most of our bulbs are now set on timers to kick on and off at specific times, and because you can schedule a group of bulbs (ex: 6 kitchen recessed lights), or individual bulbs we rarely even touch a light switch anymore. The kids bedroom lights aren't left burning when they go off to school because I have them turn on when they get up and off 10 minutes after they leave. It's heaven! The dimming features are great too. I had a list of additional dimmer switches I wanted my husband to install but no need now! I have the kitchen overhead bulb above the sink stay on all night at 1% power as a night light, as well as an overhead bulb in the kid's hallway so they don't have to touch the light switches and leave them on there either. The bulbs in the living room lamps come on at their scheduled time at 5% power and give the perfect, not too bright, cozy atmosphere to the room where we relax in the evenings. They start dimming automatically an hour before they kick off at 11pm and we don't touch them! If it's a darker, rainy day I just ask Alexa to turn them on a little earlier. Our porch lights are even set on times so they can't get left on during the day anymore! I'm in heaven! I recently added 12 of the flood light smartbulbs to my collection for our finished basement. All of the recessed fixtures down there are on ONE switch at the bottom of the stairs. I'm sure that seemed like a great idea, but when you're in the family room, you really don't need the lights on in the utility room or the game room, or the kitchenette. We planned on hiring an electrician to install separate switches in each room but then I thought about smartbulbs! At $10+/- per bulb they're pricey, but compared to bringing in an electrician and having to put holes in our finished basement walls/ceiling it was CHEAP! Now I have them set up in groups for the different areas and certain ones are on timers. Life changing! I will definitely buy more! The multiple garage bulbs still get left on so that's my next hurdle. Love my Sengled bulbs!

EDIT: These bulbs rely on a remote SENGLED server, which went down in late June 2025. This means I could not control the bulbs using Alexa or the Sengled app. This is totally unacceptable for many reasons. 1) nothing remote should have control over the lights in my house! 2) That server better be bullet proof, and it wasn't. 3) When the server recovered, my lights still could not be controlled by either. I tried to reboot the hub. No luck. I deleted the bulbs from the app and tried to add them again by rapidly turning off/on the light switch 10+ times. Still no luck. Reading my review from when I got them, I see I had to scan them to be learned by the app. Screw that. I'm buying other brand bulbs that do not rely on a hub and external server. Never ever buying Sengled stuff again. I don't know how long the server was down. Amazon sent an email about the outage, but not the recovery. Bad on Amazon. And I assumed if the server recovered, asking Alexa to turn on the lights would work, so I didn't try anything else. I think it was only a day or two. *** original review, which no longer applies, below *** I bought this pack of 4, and also bought a starter set of 2 bulbs with Hub and Echo, in a Cyber Monday deal. The main reason was a hard to reach switch controlling 3 bulbs. I'm using the 4th in the same room, on a different switch that I want to control differently. I had looked into buying a smart switch, but all the ones I found said they could be tough to fit in the box, and if I can avoid dealing with wiring, that's fine with me. The drawback to this is that I can't physically switch the bulbs on and off since if I happen to leave it off, I can't have Alexa turn it back on. But I can control the 3 lights on the same switch independently if I have reason to dim them differently or have some on and some off. Pairing of the hub went easy, once I actually plugged in the ethernet cable all the way. It looks like you have to plug it in wired first, then you can go wireless after hub setup. For now I'm just leaving it wired. The hub is in a different room, about 40 feet away from the bulbs with a wall in between, no problem. Next, I climbed up on a counter, unscrewed the old bulb, and screwed in the new. That was a mistake. You have to scan the bulb first. Luckily I only did this with one. Make sure you give permission to the app for your camera and storage so it can scan each bulb. Otherwise you'll be trying to read tiny letters, and trying to figure out if it's a 0 or O. From there it's pretty easy. Screw in the bulb, flip the switch on to give the bulb power (bulb will come on), and hit OK to pair the bulb. The bulbs flash two or three times, then a few seconds later are paired. You can pair multiple at once. You have to assign a "Scene", or room the bulb is in. Then you individually name each bulb for Alexa to use, and have Alexa discover the devices. I'm not sure the real point of a Scene other than you can use the app to dim all the lights in the scene the same, or turn them all on or off. I actually find the different dimming levels useful, to make the one over my laptop dimmer, and one over a work area brighter. Alexa does not seem to let you control the entire scene--she will ask which device you want to control. Of course you can set up a group in Alexa, which I did for the set of 3 I want controlled together. Note that these lights don't dim all that much. I still have incandescent lights in my living room that I can dim to almost nothing, and these don't come close to that. But that are noticeably less than full. Fine with me for this application, but I probably won't get a set for that living room. I guess I'd have to change out that switch anyway, since they don't work with dimmer switches. I'm between a 4* and 5*, mostly due to setup not being really intuitive, but it wasn't too bad, and I really like having Alexa control of these lights for a very reasonable price.

I had four of these connected just fine to my Hubitat C-7 hub using the Generic ZigBee bulb driver. I migrated to the new C-8 hub and shortly after two of these bulbs became disconnected. Those bulbs will now not reconnect, so I bought two new bulbs and still they will not connect either, or specifically they have issues trying to initialize to become connected, and if they do end up initializing, they work for about ten minutes before dropping off. I tried every trick to get them back on, rebuilding ZigBee network, pairing close to the hub, pairing close to repeaters... eventually they initialize but then will randomly drop off the network and not work again. This is a known problem with the C-8 Hubitat hub that still has not been resolved. These bulbs will still connect to my older C-7 hub without issue. The issue on the C-8 shows itself mostly with end devices, and these bulbs do NOT act as repeaters like most mains-powered bulbs will. So being only an end-device, these will have issues with the C-8 hub until they fix the problem. Other than that, they are great bulbs when they are working and connected.

These are smart E12 bulbs that use the Zigbee protocol instead of standard wifi. The downside of that is that you need a Zigbee hub to connect. The upside is that Zigbee is much lower power and IMHO more reliable than wifi, and that most Zigbee devices also function as range extenders, so the more switches and bulbs you add, the more reliability and range you can expect. I use these bulbs for the lanterns outside my house, and Zigbee is a great solution for that problem. Standard wifi bulbs had a problem remaining connected to my wifi network - the bulbs are outside of the house and inside metal lantern frames, so the small antennas inside bulbs have trouble connecting to wifi. I use Alexa for my home automation, and have an Echo studio speaker, which has a built-in Zigbee hub, so connecting these to my Alexa network was easy, and now I have Alexa turning the bulbs on at sunset and off at a set time each night. Most importantly, the Zigbee bulbs connect much more reliably than my old wifi bulbs. One reason is that it's easy to plug a Zigbee smart switch into an outlet near the outside wall to extend range at that point, and another is that the bulbs themselves function as range extenders, so if my network can reach the bulbs by my front door, they help extend the range to meet my driveway lamppost.

Sengled strikes again with their awesome bulbs! I scored some of these on Woot! (an Amazon liquidation site/app) and fell in love, so I bought more here since Woot! was sold out. These bulbs are amazing! Pros: QR code pairing available, but with the latest version of the Sengled Home app, all you need to do is ensure your mobile device and hub are connected to the same network, turn power off to the socket(s), and screw in the bulbs. Turn the power on and add the bulbs using the app, and you no longer have to scan the QR code from the bulb! I was able to pair 4 bulbs at once with no issue thanks to the new feature! These bulbs are also dimmable on command, and can easily be grouped in the Alexa app for 1-command control over a group of bulbs. I have our living room bulbs added to a group, and can easily control them by asking Alexa to “Turn on/off living room” or “Dim living room to __%” Sengled also has incredible customer service. When 1 of my bulbs stopped responding, they shipped me another one with no issue after a quick call to customer service. They didn’t make me go back through the troubleshooting steps I already completed which was a huge plus! If you live in a place where you either cannot change the switches (rental) or don’t have the wiring required to have smart switches, these bulbs are a great option! My 120+ year old home is now a smart old home thanks to these (and Alexa, of course!)

These are my go-to for the spots that don’t need anything fancy—hallways, closets, random corners where you just want reliable light and full dimming. They pair easily to a Zigbee hub, show up clean in Home Assistant, and respond quickly. No drama, no cloud nonsense, just solid local control. Single color, nothing flashy—but honestly that’s the point. They’re cheap enough that you don’t overthink where to use them.
