  • Mostly great but some things to think about
I would give this a 4.5 star rating mainly due to the complicated button usage and having to have the helmet where the charging happens but I rounded up since that wasn't an option. I should start by saying that when we replaced our old Shoei helmets with new ones and we saw the integrated comms, we decided to try them out. Our previous 2 comm systems were Cardo ScalaRider PackTalk systems that are 6-7 years old, so that's where my comparisons to our "old comms" are from. Install was easy and the integration with the helmet is outstanding. The drawback to being integrated with the helmet is that we now have to keep our helmets in the house if we don't want the cold garage to drain the battery in the wintertime. We also don't have a lot of outlets in the garage near our helmet shelf, so we have to bring the helmets in to charge. Compared to our old comms, the buttons are harder to use, especially with gloves on. Both of us have accidently turned the Sena unit off and also somehow got stuck in FM radio mode. There is also a very fine line between tapping a button and holding it for 1 second. I'm sure practice will make things better but currently we're in that struggling phase of the learning curve. Battery -- Our old comms batteries didn't seem to last as long. We could use them for about 6-7 hours and then it seemed one or the other would start giving us low battery warnings. So far on the Sena, we haven't charged them yet and they are still displaying 70-100% full when we turn on the comms. I've gone for 3 3-hour+ rides and mine still shows high battery. I also like that you can see battery status, the old comms didn't have that feature. We are using a full faced helmet with fixed microphone and a neotec with a boom mic -- wind noise in the boom microphone is much less than our old comms. Pairing was easy between the 2 units. Unsure if we can easily add other people or other comms. Pairing was easy between my phone and the unit and/or an iPod and the unit. Volume hasn't been an issue with the Sena. The old comms would limit the music volume when 2+ paired devices were both on at the same time. Not only would it dim the volume while we were talking, but it would not allow us to turn the music up as much as we wanted when we weren't talking. Sena does not appear to have this limitation. We have both been turning up and down the volume as needed during the ride and whether we're talking or listening to our individual music doesn't seem to affect anything. As far as speaker quality, I don't really have an opinion -- the speakers provided are good enough for my use. I've never been someone who absolutely demands to hear every little nuance in the music they're listening to. For those people, I believe they can substitute other speakers if they don't find these adequate. ... show more

  • Great system
My original SRL system lasted 5 years and then stopped working with a puff of smoke. Trying to find an SRL set to fit my older Shoei Neotec 2 proved to be a bit difficult. Shoei and Sena both said the SRL2 would not fit in an older Neotec, mine was made in 2018. After some close study of the different systems, I figured it would fit with minor modification. Sure enough it fits just fine with a tiny bit of modification. The SRL2 has a removable mic from the right speaker, this junction is the issue with it fitting, it is a bit longer than the old permanent mic junction on the original SRL. Using a hot xacto knife, I was able to trim a few millimeters off of the plastic liner behind that cheek pad that the SRL2 clicks in to. The size of the recess just needed to be extended a few mm and it fits fine. Now it’s up to you if you want to trim plastic in your helmet but it is just the plastic liner behind the check pad, not the styrofoam impact material. You make your own choice about modifying your helmet. This works and fits for me in my old Neotec 2. The sena product itself is great, I have some older units are still going after 10 years. ... show more

  • Pretty good product
Some of the other reviews are correct as the sound quality could be better. There's definitely room in the helmet for thicker speakers that sound better. However, the system integrates nicely with my shoei GT air 2 helmet. Considering the other products on the market, I would have to recommend this this particular com system. ... show more

  • Sound is Fine, Despite Reviews
I was a little on edge about installing this on my Shoei GT II but glad I did. The install was extremely easy to do and despite the many (aged) reviews that complain of the sounds, I can hear this just fine. By all means, it's not BOSE or Beats by Dre, but sounds good enough. And I could hear it loud and clear going 80 MPH on the highway today. Don't let the old reviews deter you from a nice, low profile Sena. ... show more

  • Does the job
This headset system is great because it does not show on the outside of your helmet. It is meant for the Shoei GT air II Motorcycle helmets. The system is pretty easy to install. The sound quality is subpar. When listening to music there is absolutely no base. The volume controls are located on the left side outside the helmet, With gloves on it's hard to control because you cannot feel the Buttons. If the sound was better I probably would feel better about value for money because this is not a cheap system. We use the headsets on our rides together, we have not tested the range of our head sets in depth but I did notice when I was dropped off at the front of a hotel while my husband was parking the bike, I could still hear him talking! The battery life is pretty much a days worth of riding. The power charger cord is a fast charge and comes with USB cable so you can plug into your bike directly if you wanted to. You can use the Bluetooth to sync to your phone and both hear music at the same time, you just need to install the Sena app to your smart phone. I am sure this company will come out with a better quality sound in their next version! ... show more

  • Bluetooth Done Right
This thing is wonderful. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but once you learn it, it is great. Sound quality and battery life are better than I expected. It fits perfectly in the Shoei Neotec II. It’s a breeze to install. I recommend this for anyone looking a quality Bluetooth for their helmet. ... show more
